Force Fields, Toughness and Armor Penetrating

Here is a hypothetical situation:

Hero A attacks Villain X with a 5 stones armor penetrating attack. Villain X has a 1 stone force field up and 3 toughness for a total of 5 stones of defense.

Question:

Does Hero A's attack remain armor penetrating after meeting the 2 stone force field which ignores armor penetrating? If it does remain armor penetrating does that mean the remaining 3 stones of attack ignore Villain X's toughness? And if so doesn't does this mean the 3 stones of remaining attack do nothing as they cannot penetrate the 3 stones of toughness? Or perhaps do you apply the toughness first which would be ignored by the armor piercing and then apply the force field which would not?



PS: I think I have answered my own question, but I would still like to hear what you think.

I tend to do it in layers. You'll hit the forcefield first, then get around any reflexive dodge, then through any armor, and finally you'll hit the toughness. If the AP is nullified in the first layer it's not what's gonna make it through the next ones.

Really though, if your attack made it through the first three layers I imagine it's worth it to let you ignore the last one.

What Gryphynx said. Forcefield doesn't ignore armor penetration for the whole attack, but for the stones Forcefield provides. Villain X takes 3 damage.
