I think that too many people on this site worry about mechanics instead of playing the game like its a comic.
For example, who cares how (blank cool comic weapon) would work? Come up with a general number and play off of the fact that's it;s fairly well known in comics.
I mean, I wouldn't ask a player playing as Spider-Man to tell me that Spider-Man had webshooters and they work like blank with blank stones in range and black stones in blank. I would just figure out a general way for it to work.
When I write an established character, I don't stone him, I write the character as the character would be in my opinion.
When I (probably) write an updated Taskmaster profile, I'm noot worried about saying Ok Intelligence is blank stones in cost, I'm trying to make the character accurate.
It's not about the numbers, it's about the adventure.

Different people enjoy different things, and not all comic fans play alike.

Are you talking about free form roleplaying - basically no mechanics involved? I did that back in the day (90s) on message boards. Was quite fun, but more like story telling rather than gaming.
I was always too over critical of my characters too. I ran a character called Wonder Man (not the Marvel version, the ORIGINAL version, from the 30s which ran foul of DC's legal department and was canned after one issue for 'being too much like Superman'.)
It was quite fun, trying to 'finish off' the story of the character after his premature cancellation. Overall though, I don't miss the interactive storytelling - it's even more time consuming than playing RPGs (having to read through sometimes long replies then reply with your own, equally long, reply), but fun if you have the time. Improves your writing and punctuation skills no end when you're doing it regularly.
Ah, the good old days. Not so good if I recall. A shitty 33.6 modem and £100/month (minimum) for internet access.... Downloading a song would take 20 minutes+ ...

So... I'm the only one that finds it ironic that this is basically telling people that they're playing the game wrong because they're worried about playing the game wrong(?)
