*clack*(sound of jaw hitting desk) Forgot how many stats there were in Champions. Only thing I'd say is that at the time of the story Braddock wasn't dependent on the British Isles for his powers until it was revealed at the end of his own story ark (Think it was Captain Britain #13 when he and Megan were living in the lighthouse. First time I'd seen him flying without the suit). Up till then it was the suit that amplified his (peak natural) abilities. Then of course it was expanded on in Excalibur and he lost his powers for a while before getting another suit in the cross time caper, but I'd rather forget about that mess of a storyline... The other stuff brings back memories... Obvious Inaccessible focus... Offensive Combat Value... I can't remember what was the harder sell to my group - character creation (took hours), the endless ream of stats and numbers on the sheet with all the abbreviations that no one knew about or the roll under mechanic (because my group had had it ingrained that roll high=good from D&D and the like). Come to think of it until Marvel Superheroes came along I had a tough time selling any supers game to them. Think Champions and Villains and Vigilantes was tried, Superhero 2044 was unplayable as written and Golden Heroes came out at around the same time as Marvel. If you've never played that just let me say I haven't run a better combat/round system in play by post than that games take on it (rounds are split into frames, like a comic book, and you get a random number of frames to act, then your opponent acts with all their 4 frames, then you use the rest of your frames). It sounds a bit clunky but fights really zip along in PbP. There's a retro clone of Golden Heroes here. Which version of Champions are you using for Cap Britain? I'll dig what I have out of the loft when I get chance.

Just re-read the main thread post. Champions complete. Will dig out the PDF and take a look. Is it just me or do you find the older you get the more intimidated you are when faced with the prospect of grinding through a bulletstopper to learn a new game? That put me off Pathfinder (hell, I still haven't cracked open D&D 3e or 3.5, still as new smelling as the day I bought them. I plan to read D&D 4e around the time that D&D 7.5e comes out...) I like the idea of rotating systems though. I get to play (and maybe GM at some point) systems I thought I'd never re-visit

I figured Captain Britain just didn't know he would get weaker away from the British Isles until he actually left the British Isles to visit NYC for Inferno.
This is Hero System 6th Edition, so anything compatible with that will work.
O.K., I'm off to check out Golden Heroes now. (Is this like The golden Girls RPG? Who wants to play Blanche?)
