I was perusing my library and picked up a few Deadpool comics and that got me to thinking: What was Deadpool like in his first appearances? Was he still a smartass?

If I recall correctly, Deadpool was a Rob Liefeld creation, and didn't have the personality we know today.
But what he was actually like, I have no idea.

He was always a smartass... "The Merc With The Mouth" was his very first nickname. If I recall properly, he didn't have the whole fourth wall violation thing that makes me hate him so much (well that, and Marvel trying to make him a hero when he's clearly a murderous piece of crap)

(and Marvel trying to make him a hero when he's clearly a murderous piece of crap) So WK do you like Deadpool or the Punisher better?

Punisher, but I'll argue to the death with anyone that says Punisher is a "super hero"... he's not, he's a vigilante anti-hero (and almost never any good when he appears in crossovers with actual super heroes).

Do you mean no good as in lame or no good as in he's evil?
