While I do support the idea of having d6 as a lower level, d12 is a little too much power for something that regular humans can do. We'll have to agree to disagree. First of all, the d12 level isn't for "regular" humans. It's for humans who achieve nearly impossible levels of mastery in a particular area. More importantly, "just humans" accomplish the extraordinary in comics all the time. Captain America is "peak human" yet has gone toe-to-toe with Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk. Punisher is "just a human" and yet has evaded capture and avoided being killed in a world full of super powered beings. Incredible levels of skill, in effect, are and always have been, a super power onto itself in the world of comic books, and the earliest (and some would argue, best) heroes were super human ONLY because they possessed a great deal of skill.

I know I wont convince you, so I'll just stand by my opinion. Specialties shouldnt be too powerfull, even if you're Captain America (who btw, goes toe-on-toe with everyone becouse of shield, supersoldier serum, wits and only THEN his skill. Punisher has even more wits).

For what it's worth, I left the d12 out of the Operations Manual for a reason. You'll see it addressed in the Annihilation Event Book. Cheers, Cam

That's generally the way it works, yes.

That's generally the way it works, yes. I'll get my group's Sugar Daddy to buy a copy, but regardless, I think I'll end up sticking with my version instead of going with whatever it says in the book. I have some very firm ideas about the value of "skill" vs. the value of "power" in comic books, and I'm deeply opposed to the idea that somehow only the most uber-potent characters can achieve the highest levels of skill. Skill has always been the great leveler, IMO.

Huh, I always figured that powerful characters are so powerful partially because they're skilled.

Huh, I always figured that powerful characters are so powerful partially because they're skilled. Sometimes they are, but what's Hulk's "skill"? And then there are guys who have great skills, but those skills have nothing to do with their power...
