Huh, might've given the authors a tad to much credit then, my bad.
If that's the case, that works just fine.

Some points on Deadpool’s healing factor:
Wolverine’s healing factor is amazing … in Wolverine. It isn’t necessarily going to function properly in someone else any more than his kidney would.
(Actually, wouldn’t giving someone Wolverine’s healing factor eventually just turn them into a second Wolverine? No wonder he’s on so many teams)
The Weapon X guys who give out powers are evil mad scientists so the wellbeing of their subjects isn’t a huge priority.
The Weapon X guys are pretty shitty mad scientists so it wouldn’t matter much if they did care anyway.
IIRC Deadpool had cancer before he became Deadpool and then his new healing factor made it spread (which caused disfigurement and brain damage) but kept him alive.

The quality of the Weapon X scientists is just as variable as anything else in comics. Sometimes they do more impressive genetic engineering than anyone, other times they get shanked by a Canadian midget. Always much more frustrating to me is how rarely an organization manages good security and good work simultaneously. It seems the two are mutually exclusive.
Aside from the names of characters I'm not sure anything is even remotely consistent in comics.

Well, that little de-railment hurt my brain and made me sad.
Anyway, as far Deadpool goes, I actually like him and enjoy reading his comics and I find him entertaining as hell. The breaking the fourth wall thing is funny but can also get old and overly used at times. A lot of the times I find his antics hilarious and fun but at times they get over the top, a little overly dark, and psychotic.
Plus, one of the best comic book fights I have ever seen was with Wolverine and Deadpool in Wolverine: Origins.
Hell, I have been reading his current series since issue one and I have been impressed with 99 percent of it. You know, the great thing about reading Deadpool is that hidden under all of the crude/dumb jokes and eradicate/psychotic behavior is actually a person with humanity. It does come out once in awhile.
Hell, and just the fact the Deadpool goes out of his way to annoy one of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe (Cable) is just a win for me. I read the entire series of Cable and Deadpool and it was amazing! That series was actually when Deadpool became a series character.
With all of the being said, yes Deadpool can be over done, over the top, and I can read him in limited doses. At the same time he is funny as well and there is actually some humanity underneath it all. Again, he is not for everyone and I agree he is a niche character but I also agree he is a mix of Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the Punisher with an huge sense of humor.

As a fan of Spider-Man, that statement was deeply insulting. There is NOTHING of Spidey in Deadpool. Spider-Man makes stupid jokes about his opponents' outfits to throw them off their game during fights. Deadpool (apparently) wears ladies underwear and talks to his own thought bubbles.
What you just did was like comparing Shakespeare to Vaudeville.

Alright, I see what you mean - I didn't mean his humor per say. Spidey and Deadpool both have that fun loving kind of goofy (not the right word) air about them. One is just way more psychotic and makes his T.V. chair out of c4.

... that's not that bad, unless the C4 is wired to something. I hate Deadpool.

Reading about our good friend and Deadpool creator, Rob Liefeld, I came across this interesting statement... * here is a simple guide to creating your own Image Comics character
1 - take a pre-existing Marvel or DC Comics character that fat guys would like (The Punisher) 2 - change his name to couple a negatively connotative word (blood, die, death) with a second but completely unrelated negatively connotative word (shot, hard, blow) 3 - draw scribbles all over him 4 - do not make him engaging or interesting ever I would like to point out that pretty much all of that applies to Deadpool.

[rant] Liefield is a genius. There is no other way to describe someone who draws like the pencil is held between his ass cheeks and as if the image were then run through a 'crazy mirror' distortion effect in photoshop (no feet, stilt legs, wasp body, giant sharp pointing norks, lines all over, huge hair, pouches, big guns, more lines, strange perspectives that make you wonder if the character in the picture has been cut in half because the back doesn't line up with the front etc). Further evidence to his genius is that major comic book companies give him work, he makes a good living, people buy the comic books (though Hawk and Dove being canned might be attributed to him and therefore show people no longer want to buy his books..?) and he is famous the world over in geek comic book circles. He is, arguably, as well known as George Perez, John Byrne, John Romita, Jack Kirby, albeit for the wrong reasons.
The man's a genius. He probably drives a ferrari round all day thinking 'suckers'.
I didn't know* he created Deadpool. Now that I do, I'll rush out and buy a few old Deadpool comics, because extra toilet roll is handy when I'm stuck out in the middle of nowhere on my train. [/rant]
*although the knowledge doesn't come as a surprise, so maybe I knew and part of my brain shut down that information as a result.

I am aware the Deadpool has his limits and I even get tired of him at times, but I think he is a great read.
I can understand why WK and other people Hate him but I also understand why people love him and why some people are in the middle or like him depending on their mood.
There is definitely a Deadpool effect, whether the effect is positive (such as myself and others), Negative (for all the people that despise everything Deadpool is), and the Middle effect (other people).

Australian slang for Breasts. I suppose it's a pet hate of mine that the women in comic books are anatomically impossible, and Liefields even more so. Off the top of my head, only Invisible woman dresses reasonably sensibly of all the Marvel Ladies, plus maybe a few mutant types stay for the most part covered. Exception being Emma Frost and Mystique, amongst others. Liefields women look like mutant human/wasp hybrids.

I generally don't mind the limited clothing (because frankly, I don't think anything all that much more "realistic" about the clothes the guys wear... funny clothes are part of the super hero gig) when it's done with taste. Emma Frost and Mystique... well, they DO live in California now...
Liefeld's art (and in a broader sense, the way everyone is drawn in all of comics) is a bit more of an issue.

Mystique is always naked anyway. Most shape shifters are.
Emma Frost was in the Hellfire Club so the tendency toward exhibitionism makes perfect sense for the character … though some of her outfits defy laws (both in indecent exposure kind and the physical kind)..
