Nikyu Nikyu no Mi: 10
(Int.bonus)
- Pressure: Works as Telekinesis (2x damage, Ignores Hardness of objects the victim/target passes through up to AN; read further), with the Intelligence bonus and a Wpn.modifier; Special Range of Stones played, up to AN, or lower if user so wishes (In order to move objects, must actually almost touch them with one's palm(s) rather than move them from a distance. The "range" actually refers to the distance the 'pressured object' can travel in a single panel) The most basic use of this Devil Fruit, its user applies a hand onto an object, projecting it with a very powerful force at an amazing range. The user decides whether to use this as an attack (in which case, anything the victim/target will crash into will take damage as mentioned above... but not the victim/target itself!) or to simply move something away/towards something else (in which case the object is protected by this power, as is its surroundings when it lands, thanks to a force bubble in the form of a paw. Works as a Force Field of AN, also works VS Energy and Mental, defensive stones are doubled). Additionally, this technique includes a Duration of stones played, up to AN, which means how long a victim can travel before crashing/stopping (the duration can also be lessened as much as the Devil Fruit user wishes, of course). Finally, this technique can affect both tangible and intangible objects/beings, including, but not limited to, air, ghosts, and even feelings or pain (read further for the last two).
- Force Leap: Using the previous power with a small twist, users can project themselves in the same manner, traveling great distances in little time. Again, the stones played act as a Force Field (defensive stones are doubled), and the user travels a distance equal to stones played up to AN of Range on the DnR chart every panel, for a duration of Stones played, up to AN, or until they reach their destination.
- Air Pressure: By repelling the very air around them violently and at extreme speeds towards a target, users generate a blast of deadly air shattering almost anything in its path. This powerful attack is so devastating it leaves deep paw-like imprints in solid rock. It works as a Wpn.modifier to Ranged Combat of a MN equal to half this Action's AN, rounded up, with 2x damage, AP and Area Effect 1 (may be increased to 3 by spending stones). It is a Range 5 attack.
- Repel Feelings/Emotions: Act as Empathic Projection, but solely for the purpose of diminishing/disabling entirely an already present emotion/feeling. Cannot create feelings or emotions not already present, nor increase them. The user literally grabs a target, and using their hand, repels a given feeling or emotion away.
- Deflection: User gains "Deflection" (as Force Field, Also works against Energy and Mental, Defensive stones are doubled, may defend only against up to three foes at once. If both hands are used for this, defends against all directions. Must be aware of a foe's presence to defend against that foe's attacks.) at this action's AN -1 as a separate Action box. It rises by 1 AN every time this action improves by 1, although it cannot exceed this action's AN even by spending LoEs.
- Repel Pain: This particular use of this Fruit's power allows the user to repel the pain of a given person or being, thus healing them (as Mutant Healing at AN, may heal up to 2x AN white stones per day). That pain must then be transmitted to someone... acting as an Atk VS Durability equal to 3x the number of white stones healed, although the recipient of the pain must be within 10 ft times AN at most for the transfer to occur properly; failing which the pain returns to the initial victim. Note that if this ability was used to only restore Energy, then the pain (in this case' "exhaustion") will only cause Stun damage as well. Regardless of the success of this technique, though, although the healed person feels healthy and refreshed, the wounds are still apparent, and must fully heal normally with time.
- Pad Cannon: A stronger version of Air Pressure, this attacks costs 2 stones of additional energy from the user, but it adds a Wpn.modifier of AN to Ranged Combat, dealing the same 2x damage and AP as normal, but an Area Effect line of range 7, 10' in width!
- Ursus Shock: A very powerful technique. Akin to Air Pressure and Pad Cannon, this technique adds a Wpn.modifier to Ranged Combat, but first things first. In order to use, the Devil Fruit user must accumulate Energy in this action on the first panel, using both hands (and leaving them unable to defend using Deflection or other Nikyu Nikyu no Mi techniques). However, once the accumulation is complete, they combine those stones with a Ranged Combat action on the following panel, adding all the accumulated stones, plus this action's AN as a Wpn.modifier, into a 2x damage, AP (Ignores 3 Toughness even if No AP), Area Effect of AN around point of impact, Range AN attack. This devastating power can lay waste to a whole city in a single blast... which, of course, looks like a gigantic paw when seen from the outside.
Deflection: 7
-As Force Field, Also works against Energy and Mental, Defensive stones are doubled, may defend only against up to three foes at once. If both hands are used for this, defends against all directions. Must be aware of a foe's presence to defend against that foe's attacks.
Six Paths Technique: 7
(Int.bonus)
-Efficient
-As Mastery of Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth, and Water; Unlimited Create/Manipulate, Force Blast (adds half this Action's AN as a Weapon Modifier to Ranged Combat; Fire [2x damage, sets flammable objects on fire], Lightning [2x damage, or Normal and Stun damage], Wind [2x damage, or Area effect 5], Earth [Normal damage when target is airborne, 2x damage when target is standing on the ground, 3x damage when target is under/in the ground] and Water [Normal and stun damage, and 2x damage if target is on/in/under water]), Accumulate Energy, Combine with Close or Ranged Combat.
-Also usable as the aforementioned Mastery are mixed elements such as Mist, Lava, Wood, Mud, Ice, etc.
-Through the use of Rinnegan, River has access to all the powers of the Six Paths Technique, as detailed below the CAD as per the seven Paths: Deva, Asura, Animal, Human, Naraka, Preta, and Outer.
Perfect Killer: 4
-Usable as Iron Will; does not require an additional action to use
-Gains a 'Special Technique' every 2 AN, with 1 more at AN 3, AN 6 and AN 9. Up to 2/3 of the AN of this action may be used as Advantages to the Special Technique when creating them, the rest acts as a bonus to the action. A bonus of up to half the normal bonus may also be added if proper disadvantages are selected. The technique may apply only to one Action which must be selected when the technique is acquired, and cannot be changed afterwards.
NOTE: If an advantage is already provided by some other sources in the character (for example, a 2x damage technique used with a 2x damage weapon), the advantages do not stack; instead, the attack gets a bonus equal to the advantage's worth in CL (2 stones for 2x damage, for example).
-Each technique may only be used up to half this action's AN per hour/issue, whichever comes first
-Power Detection (adds half this action's AN as an Enhanced Vision [Detect Power, Analyze Power]. To increase detection ability, the user may also spend stones in this action, which then combine with the Enhanced Vision.)
-Inner Power (As Accumulate Energy from M.o.M)
- Special Tech 1: "Trigger Happy"
-Added to Ranged Combat uses of Assassin; Acts as a +3 modifier; may be used to make up for penalties/shoot despite cover/show off. Requires the use of a firearm (or two).
-FX: With one quick look, River assesses the situation, her target's (if any) position and relative skill, any factors which could hinder her shot... and then she fires... either without even looking, through a seemingly perfectly safe cover or in a way that'd awe any fool with an ounce of reason out there.
-Gained at Perfect Killer AN 2 - Special Tech 2: "I can kill you with my brain"
-Added to Telepathy (Mental bolts); Acts as a +2, 2x Damage modifier; May only target a single opponent.
-FX: What once sounded like an empty threat has become a reality: River is capable of killing a living creature by focusing her considerable mental power on it and its destruction, eventually either wounding the victim severely, disabling it, or killing it outright.)
-Gained at Perfect Killer AN 3 - Special Tech 3: "Whirlwind of Death"
-Added to Assassin; acts as a +4, Area effect 4 modifier, requires a close combat weapon in both hands, may not hold back to avoid killing.
-FX: Even when surrounded by enemies who strike fear in the hearts of any normal person, the Perfect killer that is River Tam does not falter. Holding two melee weapons, she throws herself in the melee with absolutely no mercy, and deadly efficiency... leaving nothing breathin'.

CHALLENGES
-Psychological (-3; Altered Reality Matrix. River was experimented upon, and almost entirely brainwashed by Alliance scientists in order to make her a living weapon. While she was rescued before losing the last of her sanity and personality, and despite the fact that she has gotten better in time and with her brother and her friends' help, River perceives the world around her in a different way than most. She will hear things no one else does, see things that aren't there [or so people think], and understand things around her in a way few others seem able to get. As aforementioned, she's better now, so she can usually pass as relatively normal to most folks, but she's still somewhat weird at times.)
-Psychological (-2; uncontrollable empathy. A side-effect of the Alliance's tests on her brain, River feels the emotions of those around her, a potentially useful ability that can become troublesome if many folks close to her feel a lot of emotions at once, or just a single, very strong one. More problematic is, she can't turn it off... So it is a double-edged sword, sometimes more bothersome than it's worth.)
-Psychological (-1, Minor Cruelty. While she is kind and sweet most of the time, especially with her friends and family [Serenity's Crew, and her brother Simon even more], River is also rather ruthless and merciless with her foes. She was trained to be a killer, and sometimes a darker side of herself allows itself to be known when she deals with people she don't like.)
-Psychological (-1; strong thirst for knowledge. Even as a child, River craved for knowledge. While she knows a darn lot nowadays, one never knows enough, according to her.)
-Love (-2; towards Jim Henkins, her beloved Commander.)"
-Deadly Enemy (-3; the Alliance. While it is weakened since the Miranda incident, and despite the fact it has lost her track thanks to the Operative and her own little masquerade as Myriam "Calamity" O'Sullivan, the Alliance would love to re-acquire their most dangerous assassin and finish what they started years ago. This challenge is lessened since the Alliance is not what it used to be, and is also running out of other "super-soldiers2 to send after her, what with the death of the "Hands of Blue" and the Operative leaving their ranks.)
-Loyal (-3; to her brother, Simon, and to a lesser extent, the rest of the Crew of Serenity. Simon has risked and lost nearly everything to save her, and she'd do the same for him anyday. As for the rest of the crew, she feels like they are family, especially Mal and Kaylee.)
-Memorable (-1. River has grown into a beautiful, strong woman. This, along with her personality quirks (or weirdness), her fighting prowess and her tendency to walk around bare-footed whenever she has the chance, makes her stand out in people's minds.)
-Haunted past (-4; her time at the Academy, in the Alliance's hands. She'd really, REALLY rather forget about it.)
-Recurring nightmares (-1; ...yet, obviously, her mind won't let her. Thankfully, since her brain stabilized after the Miranda incident, she never had any more waking traumatic flashes... but that never made the nightmares go away.)
-Weakness of Water/Seastone (-2; if a Devil Fruit user is even only partly submerged in water, they temporarily weaken and take a -2 stimod to all their Devil Fruit-based actions. Moreover, if they are submerged up to the knee, they become immobilized and weak, sinking fast. Essentially, it is the same as being reduced below 1 white stone of Health, but without the wounds. At this point, they better have a good friend willing to give them a hand nearby, or else they may drown. Note: Moving water, such as waves or rain, does not affect a Devil Fruit user, although still water does. Also, a Devil Fruit user similarly loses all powers related to their Devil Fruit temporarily when in contact with Seastone, until they escape its touch.)
EQUIPMENT
-Currently worn: Comically long t-shirt and underwear
-Japanese kimono/wester gown hybrid (+1 attractive, falls down to her shins.)
-Arcadion, the Black Sword (A +5 AP, 3x damage, Ignores 2 stones of Toughness even with No AP legendary sword, within which a demon's essence resides. The Black Sword can also [stones are free] perform the following actions, by asking it [though it may not always answer]: Death Magic: 9 [Vs Durability + Magical Defense. Target instantly killed if attack is successful], Restore Mana 10 [As Magical Healing, but restores red stones only], Fire Barrier: 7. Additionally, the soul of the Demon within may converse freely with its wielder telepathically. Finally, it is Indestructible, and Exclusive, meaning it can only be wielded by its chosen wielder and no one else.)
-Pair of Pistols (+3, 2x damage, range 4, holds 7 bullets plus 1 in the chamber. Like Mal's, River owns a pair of 'Moses Brothers Self-Defense Engine Frontier Model B' pistols, both very well-crafted and decorated with a metallic black rose on the grip, the symbol of "Calamity". The grip of both pistols also bears several notches, made to count every gunslinger Calamity defeated in a duel.)
-ZAFT Bullpup Assault Rifle (+3, 2x damage, 45 round magazine, Range 4. Fires 4.82 x 49mm cartridges. 30/45 ammo remaining.)
-Volley-gun (+5, 2x damage, Area effect, range 2 weapon)
-Combat Knifes (+2, two of them, kept in hidden pockets inside her outfit.)
-Leather belt with holsters and pouches (holding, among others, additional ammo [22 bullets for her pistols], Nutrition Bar [equates 30 days worth of food in a small bar], a metal flask with water, a COMMS device [kind of like an advanced smartphone], a handful of personal items, and a bag of small black Rose-shaped gemstones.)
-6x magazines, each with 45 rounds of 4.82 x 49mm ammo for the Assault Rifle
-2 Frag Grenades (+4, Area Effect of 3)
______________________________________________________________
STORY: River Tam was born to a wealthy family of Osiris, a Core planet. Her parents, Gabriel and Regan Tam, were blessed with two wonderful children; the eldest, Simon, and his little sister. Simon was really smart, but River was on an entirely different level. She was correcting her older brother's spelling mistakes at the age of 3.
Both grew up learning much and fast. Simon was to become a skilled doctor. River had little idea about what she'd do, but she had time to think about it. Still, when she grew tired of her regular studies (she started studying advanced physics at the age of 14), she accepted an offer to join the Academy, which was apparently an institute for gifted students. Her parents proudly supported her in that decision.
The truth, it turned out, was much darker. The Academy was actually a secret facility meant to brainwash gifted children such as her and train them into becoming secret, deadly assassins for the Alliance. They experimented on her, eventually finding out that she was a very powerful Reader, a person gifted with psychic abilities... a power they attempted to exploit for their own use.
However, her brother eventually found out about the truth through letters she kept sending to him. The letters were coded, telling him of the danger she had found herself in. Simon left his own studies, his career as a doctor, and his family behind, in order to attempt to rescue River from the Alliance facility. With his money, influence, and own skills, he succeeded and escaped with her, the both of them becoming fugitives.
They ended up on Serenity, a Firefly mid-bulk transport, owned by Malcom Reynolds (a former Browncoat, or Independent, in the Unification War) and his crew, whom Simon and River eventually joined. Simon became the resident doctor of Serenity, while River... well, River was being his half-psychotic, brainwashed sister.
In time, with the help of her brother and the crew of Serenity, River became more... socially adept, and her madness lessened. During the crew's ordeal during the Miranda incident, her psyche stabilized, leaving her a bit more sane and normal, and quite less dangerous to have around. Following Wash's death, she became co-pilot of Serenity.
Now, over three years later, River is officially the main pilot of Serenity, and a full member of the crew. In order to help her gain more freedom regarding the weakened Alliance (which was still after her despite their repeated defeats and the loss of more than one special operative dedicated to her capture), Mal, Zoe and Simon made up a new identity based on a suggestion she made, that of Myriam O'Sullivan, also known as "Calamity", a renowned gunslinger from the Rim planets whose family died during the Unification War, known for her lightning fast reflexes, her unbelievably quick draw and her deadeye accuracy, as well as her habit of leaving black rose-shaped gemstones on the heart of her victims, and her dislike of the Alliance. Hacking the Cortex with the help of Adrian Carver, a young woman who happened to be Mr. Universe's apprentice (and a former contact of Zoe), they implanted rumors and stories about the famous gunslinger, and soon the tavern tales worked their wonders.
As far as most people know, one famous gunslinger known as Myriam "Calamity" O'Sullivan travels the Black along with one thief with a heart of gold Mal Reynolds, a reputation (and actual skills) Mal has used several times in the course of the last few months.
As for River herself, she thoroughly enjoys the ride and playing the role of her "badass gunslinger girl" new identity. But when the day ends, and Serenity takes to the stars again, she becomes her good old self and joins up with her friends for a good, well-deserved rest. And just like Mal and the others... River keeps flyin'.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Six Paths Technique
- The Deva Path: As Telekinesis (with Weapon modifier), As Mastery of Gravity (Immune to Effects, Create Manipulate, Force Blast [adds hald the action's AN as a modifier to Ranged Combat, 3x damage, Ignores Toughness/Hardness], Accumulate Energy, User gains Flight at AN, Combine with Close/Ranged Combat); Shinra Tensei Field (as Force Field; doubles defensive stones); Chibaku Tensei (User creates a small ball of black energy, which gathers matter in a large area in order to create an artificial heavenly body (stones as an Area Effect of 5 times what the D&R chart indicates; acts as an Attack ignoring Toughness/Hardness, works only against inanimate matter, which will create a mass equal to Area in diameter. This attack might only deal damage to living beings withing if they are crushed by the moving matter or hurt by rubble or inside buildings or underground yet within the area [GM's call].), which can be used as such by being put in orbit, or used as an attack by being dropped onto an area (in which case it acts as a basic Gravity blast, but with an Area effect equal to the Area of the heavenly body thus created). Using this aspect of the Six Paths Technique at more than 20 stones in total forces River to wait 1 panel before using it again.
- The Asura Path: Grants River the ability to summon a mechanized armor, augmenting her body and granting her the use of varied and powerful robotic weaponry. In effect, the Asura Path essentially works like Metamorphosis with an AN of 3/AN of this action, which can be used to acquire Cybernetic/Robotic powers/actions/abilities, including, but not restricted to, robotic weapons, increased Toughness, Cybernetic senses, etc. Additionally, the changes can be altered once every two panels as a reflexive and instant effect requiring no action, to reflect the great versatility of the Asura Path. The base form of the armor is a six-armed, three-faced version of the base body with robotic features, but River can alter it in various ways depending on its abilities.
- The Animal Path: Allows River to summon various creatures, with fewer limits than regular summoning jutsus would indicate. First, the types of creatures she can summon are many, and how many there can be at once is quite impressive, essentially making a small army (up to 2 creatures/AN can be present at once, though summoning each still requires to pay stones as normal). Second, all summoned creatures have the Rinnegan as they are connected to the summoner, allowing River to see through them and control them. Finally, all the creatures can be summoned only by paying their Durability in stones, as if River knew their true names. The creatures that can thus be summoned are: Giant Drilled-Beak Birds, Giant Multi-Headed Dogs, Giant Snake-Tailed Chameleons, Giant Pandas, Giant Oxen, Giant Rhinos, Giant Crustaceans, Giant Centipedes, her own River Clones (if she knew the technique), up to 3 allied Ninjas River would have previously created a mystic bond with. Creating such a bond requires River to meditate for a minute, and the bond can only be changed if a previous ally died, became hostile to her, or otherwise refuses to share the bond with her.
- The Human Path: This path is rarely used by River unless it is absolutely vital and all else failed. It allows River to forcibly extract the soul of a victim in order to read its mind.... but the soul removal results either in a coma if River decides to store the soul in the King of Hell, or in death if not. Extracting the soul is an attack VS Durability + Chakra + Mental Defense, meaning some very powerful individuals with either powerful minds or chakra might resist it, but otherwise, it instantly kills the victim (as 2x damage, plus the fact it ignores most defenses)/puts it in a coma, rendering it harmless. River has found a way to use her chakra to restore a stolen (and stored in the King of Hell) soul to its unconscious body, thankfully, so she can use this technique without killing the victim, restoring it to its normal state afterwards. "Reading the mind" of someone using this technique will not only bring all the information River wishes to learn regarding a person, its lore and experiences, but also allows River to gain +1 AN/MN in one Ability/Action/Modifier the victim had that was higher than River's own (if he had it at all), as she retains part of the victm's knowledge after such a thorough reading of its very soul.
- The Naraka Path: Through use of the Nakara path, River summons the King of Hell, a large head sprouting from the ground, surrounded by purple flames. The King of Hell, like all summons through the powers of the Six Paths Technique, has the Rinnegan, is under Naruot's control and River can see through his eyes if she wants to. The King of Hell grants three powers to River. One, the power of interrogation (the King of Hell immobilizes its victims through an attack VS Durability and Chakra which stuns for 1 panel/stone of damage; he then grabs a hold of the victims' lifeforce [which looks like an enlarged tongue through this power], and asks questions with an Enhanced Sense [Discern Truth] at MN 10. If the victims tell the truth, the King of Hell releases them with an Attack VS Durability and Chakra; each stone of damage causes a -1 to all actions for an hour, but they are still alive. If they lie, or refuse to answer, it releases instead an Attack VS Durability plus Chakra that deals normal damage). Two, the power of restoration (the King of Hell ingest the damaged body, regenerates it, then releases it fully healed, intact, including the wearer's clothes if River so wishes, though this power cannot resurrect the dead). And three, the power of transportation (allows use of this action as Teleportation; River, her allies and whatever she wants to bring along enter its mouth, then the King of Hell disappear into the ground, reappears elsewhere, and its passengers walk out). It is to be noted that the King of Hell is invisible except while restoring the wounded or served for teleportation (if River wishes it to be visible then), otherwise it is seen only by River (and victims being interrogated).
- The Preta Path: Allows to absorb either regular energy or that of Ninjutsus in general of up to 3/2 the amount of stones played, dispelling the technique or effect, and gaining up to half the stones absorbed. For example, if she puts 12 stones in this action, she can absorb a Fire release jutsu of up to 18 stones, and regains a total of 9 stones of Energy from absorbing it. If it's not enough to absorb the attack entirely, the rest of the stones still act as an attack against her, although severely weakened. If she manages to grab a victim, she can also use this as Improved Energy Drain.
- The Outer Path: The most powerful Path, and for obvious reasons, the only one River cannot grant to her clones through the Six Paths of Pain Technique (read further). The first use of this Path is the Six Paths of Pain technique, using animated corpses to serve as vessels for the six other Paths. In doing so, she shares her Paths with up to 6 of her Clones, losing access to it until she dispells them/they disappear. The original River controls the Six Paths, of course.
Additionally, River can bring the dead back to life through use of the Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique, as long as they didn't die prior an amount of time set by this Action's AN on the Duration row of the D&R chart, by paying stones equal to the dead's Durability plus Chakra (doing this is tiresome and causes a -1 to all actions for 6 hours). If River so wishes, she can also bring back many dead back to life (1 per stone played), but doing so is positively exhausting and imposes a -5 penalty to all actions for one full day). NOTE: Some dead beings and creatures cannot be brought back from the dead, at the GM's discretion.
The third ability of the Outer Path is the creation of Demonic Chakra Chains, he can use to bind, cause pain to, and absorb the energy of its victims, as well as to control the Tailed Beasts through use of Chakra Receivers. Acts as an Atk VS Defense to immobilize, an Atk VS Durability+Chakra (Normal Damage, or 2x damage, Stun damage only) to cause pain, or as Improved Drain Energy. Control of attached Tailed Beasts is automatic as long as they have Chakra Receivers within them, and River can reabsorb them near-instantly within the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path if she were to lose control of them. The chains have a range of up to 5.
Finally, the fourth and final power of the Outer Path is the summoning and control of the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path itself. (CAD will be done later)
