"Yes... yes... no... yes..." Captain Britain went through the series of automated messages that directed him through the Avengers automated calling system. He'd already said the wrong option once and been directed to the police in New York.
Quelling his frustration, he spoke to what appeared to be a human operator.
"Yes. My name is Captain Britain. yes, THE Captain Britain. Of the United Kingdom. That's just above France in the North Sea...." pause "No ma'am, it's not in Europe. Well it is, but we're a sovereign... Look. I just need to speak to an Avenger, specifically Captain Marvel. I've worked with Captain America, Nicky Fury and Spiderman before." Pause. "Yes, I know, Spiderman isn't an Avenger. What's that? Not a team player? I don't know about that, he..." Captain Britain paused to listen, once more holding his temper back. "LOOK! JUST BLOODY PUT ME... Hello? HELLO?"
Some time later...
"Yes, finally! Sorry to interrupt whatever you were doing Captain Marvel, but I need your help!"
He goes on to explain what had happened at Buckingham Palace, glossed over as much as he could the embarrassing trouncing he'd suffered at the hands of Hurricane. He then recounted the encounter with the Kree and his subsequent demand and threat against the Earth.
"If what this man says is true, the Earth is in peril of being invaded! I need to find out if this threat is real, and if so there are people better connected than I who need to mobilise every form of defence the Earth can muster! If it's some kind of trick... well... let's just say I'd like to meet the man behind it. I wouldn't be surprised if it was that maniac, Arcade."
OOC The Spiderman/Cap Britain crossover involved Arcade I think. Can't remember the details of the Britain/America crossover but the pair know each others identities I think, whereas Peter Parker knows CBs, not the other way round.

OOC: I have the Marvel Team-Up issues with Spider-Man and Captain Britain against Arcade. I don't have the issues with Captain America but put Captain Britain - Volume 1: Birth of a Legend on my Holiday wish list so I may get a chance to read what it's all about soon.
Captain Marvel believes that the Kree are responsible for the attacks. She will happily come to Britain's aid, and asks where he would like to meet. The Avenger can travel at the speed of light, so Captain Britain just needs to name the time and place.

'Brian publicly debuted fighting the crimelord Vixen’s minions in London, though some, such as Chief Inspector Dai Thomas of Scotland Yard, were not glad to see him; he also battled Hurricane (Albert Potter; another villain empowered by the Nethergods), and faced Doctor Synne near Braddock Manor. Brian learned Synne was Mastermind’s pawn, and the truth about his parents’ deaths; he confronted the machine, apparently switching it off, though in fact the computer simply faked its demise. Brian teamed with Captain America, Nick Fury, and Lance Hunter, Director of S.T.R.I.K.E. (Special Tactical Reserve for International Key Emergencies), Britain’s equivalent to S.H.I.E.L.D., to battle the Red Skull; early on in this skirmish Mastermind used holograms to fake Braddock Manor’s destruction in a bomb strike. While battling Lord Hawk, a former colleague of his father who used a robotic hawk built for him by Brian in his campaign against modern society, Brian was badly injured. While his body lay dying in a S.T.R.I.K.E. medical facility, Merlyn and Roma brought his spirit to them, and after testing him again, replaced his quarterstaff with the Star Sceptre. Brian returned to his healed body and slipped out of the S.T.R.I.K.E. base. Following this he battled foes such as the mercenary biker Highwayman, deposed tyrant the Manipulator (Basil Crushstone), aliens beneath Scotland’s Loch Ness and their mechanical monster, the hellspawned Black Baron, Doctor Claw and his mutations, and the assassin Slaymaster.'
OOC About as outlandish as you'd expect with bad guys names 'Albert Potter'. Very British...
"I'd be more than glad for your assistance Captain!" declares Braddock with a sigh of relief. "If there is more trouble than we two can handle, perhaps the rest of the Avengers might be required... the Fantastic Four, even the X men, as mutants legal status in the UK grants them the same rights as anyone else. What say we meet in ... an hour? At Big Ben?"
OOC Unless there are other leads to follow up, CB will meet at the time and place chosen, or whichever is suitable for CM

It's late when Captain Marvel meets Captain Britain at Big Ben. The events of the day have taken their toll on Brian Braddock. He is exhausted, but with Kay-tell promising to return to Braddock Manor tomorrow afternoon, it will be difficult for him to sleep without a plan. Captain Marvel circles ahead before landing some distance from Captain Britain. "You must be Captain Britain, but...is that a new costume?" she asks warily. Captain Britain smiles wearily. "It is. Thanks for noticing, as my profile isn't that great beyond these shores. It's a long story, but my costume and my powers changed in response to a threat the like I'd never met before."
He was silent for a moment. The memory of the Jaspers Warp and the Fury had been erased from the countrys collective memory, but Braddock still bore the scars.
He put a smile back on. "Dane Wh... The Black Knight, knows me well and should be able to vouch for me. We journeyed and fought alongside one another for a while. I've worked with Captain America, Nick Fury and Spiderman but haven't had much to do with the Avengers. I suppose compared to their usual foes my are strictly small time."
"This one is different I think."
Captain Britain explains how he battled and was beaten by an old foe, Hurricane, and the subsequent damage. He then retells of the meeting with Kay-Tell and the threat against the Earth if Captain Marvel were not produced. He also adds his theory that they are after Mar-Vell and not the current Captain who stands before him.
"That's where we're at. You're welcome so stay at.. my temporary base of operations, though judging by your speed it would be more convenient to appear a few moments before the meeting. I'm worried, but I have been tricked before, so I'll keep an open mind when dealing with Kay-Tell again."

On the following day, the Kree Commander Kay-tell arrives at the manor in his landing craft again. He suffers no delay, demanding that Captain Britain bring Marvell out. He knows nothing of the female now using the Captain Marvel name and is furious that the Kree warrior has not been produced.
"Where is Mar-vell? You dare to defy me!" He attacks with his Kree plasma blaster, missing Captain Britain but stunning Captain Marvel!

Angered by Kay-Tells attack, Captain Britain launches himself full into an offensive against the Kree Agent, trying to catch the man flush on before he can bring that weapon to bear on the Captain himself!
OOC Force field up (though it's more along the lines of skin armour/tough skin in how it works) and pound away at the Kree. I dread to think what the dice will come up with, mind...

It sounds like Captain Britain is performing the Slam action on page 21 of the BASH Ultimate Edition.
Kay-Tell is going to try to dodge.
Captain Britain Brawn + Flight 3 Momentum vs. Kay-Tell's Defense [dice=6][dice=6] X (3+1) vs. [dice=6][dice=6] X 2 (8+[dice=6]) X 4 vs. 14 52 vs 14
Captain Britain Hits and Kay-Tell takes 52-14 or 38 damage!
This also causes knock-back. Since Kay-Tell was standing between Captain Britain and his ship, Kay-Tell is knocked back toward his landing ship.
SMACK! Kay-Tell is knocked back 10 feet into the side of his landing craft.
[dice=6][dice=6] X 1 for an extra 10 Damage.
Amazingly, Kay-tell gets up from this beating, using the side of his craft to help him stand. He glares daggers at Captain Britain and he and his ship suddenly disappear!

"What the bloody...?" splutters Captain Britain. He soars over to the spot where Kay-Tell and his ship had been, probing about with his hands in case the fellow had turned invisible.
(OOC if he doesn't find anything by touch)
He turns and moves to the side of Captain Marvel, helping her up then asks her if there's anything she can see, or detect with regards the ship and its energy signature.
"I'm being played here, and I don't like it. Not. One. Bit!" he snarls.

Narrator Setback Pool: 2OOC Captain Britain at this stage in his career was that rarest of beasts, a street level flying brick. Strong enough to take on low level criminals, not fast or strong enough to take on much more (unfortunately) and with few options other than his fists and fighting skills to call on. That said, I like the character because of who he is, rather than what he can do, and the mess of what Marvel did to him later with elevated power levels and ridiculous storylines means this era is my favourite for the Captain.
Not sure what all that has to do with an escaping space ship, other than to explain his actions Captain Britain soared up at full speed, forcefield on, to ram the alien vessel as hard as he could, either to disable it or break through the outer skin and render it un-spaceworthy (and batter Kay-Tell once he was inside the thing!) ACTIONS: Charge attack! Use a hero point and Hero Dice, whatever they are

Captain Britain launches himself in the direction in which he felt the invisible ship move away from his hand. OOC: A charge attack is called a "Slam" in BASH! With a running, jumping, or even a flying start, you can use your entire body as a weapon. When you make a Slam attack against an opponent, they will decide to either hold their ground or to dodge. Kay-tell is going to try to dodge, because your chance to hit carries a -4 Dice Penalty against the invisible ship. Since you are willing to spend Hero Points and Hero Dice to succeed, I'm rolling Kay-tell's Defense first.
Kay-tell's Defense Roll: ([dice=6]+ [dice=6] - 1 Size Defense Dice Penalty) X Pilot 2 = 14
Here is an initial roll for Captain Britain's slam attack prior to any Hero Point or Hero Die expenditures. Captain Britain's Slam Attack Roll: ([dice=6]+ [dice=6](+ [dice=6])(+ [dice=6]) - 4 Invisible Target Dice Penalty) X (3 Brawn + 0 Momentum Bonus because the difference in speed is not 10 or more) = 33
Thanks to the die roller rolling a lot of 4s for you, the ship will take 19 damage (33 - 14) which bypasses normal soak.
Adding the one Hero Point would raise this to 20 damage. This would break a windshield, but not the Plexiglas/Thin Steel body of the Kree landing craft.
So let's look at the Hero Die. By using the Hero Die for "Never underestimate me!", we can roll another die which will be multiplied by 3. while even another 18 points would max out at a number under 40, if it matches either a 4 or a 3 it can be rolled again and added again.
Since there is a chance of this and you said to use 'em, I'll go ahead and give it a try.
[dice=6]
There is that 6, raising the total from (11 X 3 = 33) to (17 X 3 = 51). 51 Slam Attack - 14 Defense = 37 Damage.
The ship is still running but with only 3 Hits left! The battered spacecraft and it's driver turn visible again as a still invisible force pushes Captain Britain back from the desperate vehicle. He wanted answers, and he'd been battered from pillar to post so far in his quest to get them - this man wasn't leaving without the Captain doing his utmost to stop him! ACTIONS:Again, try that high speed slam attack on the ship. Sounds like it's *nearly* there, just need a few more points to wreck it and bring it down (hopefully) in the grounds of Braddock Manor. If the Captain bursts through into the ship he'll make for Kay-Tell and land some of his own greatest hits on the fellow

This time Kay-tell holds his ground and Captain Britain automatically hits a force field!
Captain Britain rolls Brawn (plus Momentum, if applicable) for damage.
([dice=6]+ [dice=6] (+ [dice=6] for exploding dice))X (3 Brawn + 0 Momentum Bonus because the difference in speed is not 10 or more) = 39
Kay-tell rolls Soak, but since this is a force field it's kind of different than the rules as written. (This BASH! experiment isn't going so well, I think.) Since it is a force field it automatically soaks 10 damage each time it is struck and the force field will take the remaining 29 damage. Now Captain Britain suffer the following soak roll as Hits that he can not soak.
Kay-tell's ship's Soak roll: ([dice=6]+[dice=6](+[dice=6] for exploding dice))X3 Brawn=42
SLAM!
It hurts when Captain Britain flies into a solid wall! However, he only suffers his 39 roll in damage, not the full 42. This reduces Captain Britain's Hits to 17 and the spacecraft speeds away, now too far for Captain Britain to follow.

"DAMN!" he spits, and turns to fly back to where Captain Marvel is. Once he's made sure she's ok, he looks to the receding dot that is the ship and wonders if he's made some colossal blunder.
"That's all I seem to do lately" he mutters, then hefts Captain Marvel up into his arms gently, and carries her to the mansion where he lays her on a couch and pours a drink for himself whilst watching from the window and waiting for her to come round.
Shaking his head in disgust, he wonders which is worse - his bruised body or battered pride.
