Some time after Kay-tell's visit, a second vessel appears in the sky over Braddock Manor. This time, however, it is the SHIELD helicarrier, the flying HQ of the law enforcement agency. Within seconds, a small helicopter is launched from the helicarrier, and it descends to the front of the house. From the helicopter three figures emerge, two SHIELD agents and the Director himself, Nick Fury. Captain Britain's Hits: 17/100 Captain Britain's Hero Points: 3 Captain Britain's Hero Dice: 0

"Bloody hell, might as well put neon signs up and direct everyone here for a chat about my life as a superhero." growled Captain Britain looking up at the vast floating carrier in the sky.
He shook his head, chuckling to himself. "If my life got any stranger I could give Lewis Carrolls books a run for their money."
Captain Britain walks over to where General Fury stands with the two agents. "Fury. We meet again. I'd ask what brings you here but I suspect it's something to do with a Kree named Kay-Tell. I've had an awful day thus far, so any bad news you want to tell me, save it till I've had a drink. Then, since the day probably won't get much better, I'll have another. I'd offer you one but you're on duty."
"How can I help you?" he asks innocently with a smile, as if the fate of Planet Earth wasn't at stake.

Fury quickly gets to the point of his visit.
"Lissen, Cap. Ya don't need me to tell ya what's happenin'. There's been more'n a dozen attacks all round the world. They've just one thing in common -- a helluva lot of innocent people get hurt. Fer once, everyone agrees what's gotta be done... Uncle Sam, the Soviets, the Chinese -- even you Limeys. We're gonna do summat about it, Cap, an' we're gonna do it together."
"But ya can guess the problem. We can try anythin' to protect our people down here, but we can't fight back. Now, I bin a soldier long enuff to know that ya don't win a war sittin' on yer butt waitin' to get hit all the time. But how're we gonna fight against a inter-Galactic invasion. I mean, this ain't Star Wars."
"So, we've bin talkin' to a few of you costumed clowns, and we think we got us a solution. With super-brains like Reed Richards workin' fer us, we got us a way to get us all the way to Home Base, and we know just who's goin' to go. They're all ready and rarin' to go, Cap; the Avengers, the Fantastic Four.... heck, everyone in fancy britches is gonna be on that ship, Cap -- and I've come ter take ya there, if ya wanna go along fer the ride."
Fury looks at Captain Britain expectantly, waiting for an answer. After a brief pause he adds, "Cap, we're gonna finish the Kree, once an' fer all -- or we're gonna go down tryin'."

Captain Britain looks uneasy.
"There's something about all of this that doesn't make sense Fury. Why the Kree? Why now? And furthermore, I'd have expected an old warhorse like you to realize that depriving the Earth of it's guardians would leave it relatively undefended against not just the Kree in a surprise attack, but against other alien races, against supervillains and organisations... heck, even against each other. There is a strong argument to be made that superhumans are as strong a nuclear deterrent as nuclear weapons themselves! We live in perilous times Colonel. Best we contact the Kree, I think, and attempt to give them chance to explain their actions. Charging off half wee weeed and without all the information seems to be the daft thing to do, if you ask me."
He shrugged. "I'm no coward. I like a fight as much as the next man. Damn, probably far more than a cities worth of 'next men'. It's what I do. I also protect and help where I can, and my place is here. I don't fight wars. I defend the weak, battle the evil tide that threatens to drown us. I can't charge off and leave Britain undefended, no more than the Fantastic Four, Avengers or anyone else leave America undefended! It's madness! Surely you can see that? There HAS to be another way!"

When Captain Britain starts trying to persuade Fury, he quickly gets on the wrong side of the Director's temper. When the Captain persists in this line of reasoning, Nick Fury's patience snaps!
"Ya don't haveta say no more. I had yer figured as some sorta chicken. Well, I got my orders, an' I mean to carry 'em out. If y'ain't goin' by choice, then I gotta take ya in anyway."
With those words, Fury pulls out his pistol, and starts to level it at Captain Britain!

"Fury!" spluttered Captain Britain. "This is insane!"
"Think about it man! Drawing away the Earths first, last and only line of defence is a tactic that..." he narrowed his eyes. "I would expect of an enemy!"
OOC I dunno, is there some way of making a Perception check to notice anything odd about Fury? Maybe his eye patch is on the wrong eye or something, or he's not as tall as he should be. I might be barking up the wrong tree but I'm in the same boat as the Captain - I don't know what's going on.
With Forcefield up Captain Britain leapt to tackle Fury - not to harm him, but to disarm and pin him!
ACTIONS
Wrestle Fury to relieve him of his weapon/s and pin him without hurting him. Something weird is going on, and the Fury CB knows would listen to reason - well, I think he might do.

For Captain Britain to grab Nick Fury and hold him fast, both roll Brawn or Agility (whichever is lower) adding the difference as a Dice Bonus. However, Nick Fury Has Martial Arts Mastery 3 which includes Grappling styles, so Fury's multiplier with all wresting rolls is 1 higher.
Captain Britain (+1x2)=([dice=6]+[dice=6]+1)x2=16 Nick Fury (x3)=([dice=6]+[dice=6])x3=33
Since Nick has Grappling Styles (pg. 51) and beat Captain Britain by 10, he can achieve a reversal, so that now Braddock is in Fury's grip!
With his one free hand, Fury presses a stud on his communicator before trying to hit Captain Britain with the butt of his pistol.
Nick Fury (+2 Dice Bonus for grabbed opponent x3 Weapon Technique)=([dice=6]+[dice=6]+2)x3=33 Captain Britain (x2 Defense)=([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=12
He hits!
Fury has Attack Weak Point and just hit by 20+. This means Nick's blow does double damage.
Nick Fury (x2 Hand Weapon + 10 for Brawn*5 doubled) = (([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2+10)x2 = 44 Captain Britain (x4 Soak) = ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x4 = 32
Captain Britain feels the hit to his nerve cluster even through his force field! (taking 12 hits)
It takes a combat panel to roll a skill check, but I'll roll a quick Mind check as you requested.: ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2 = 10 (meets requirement for Typical Difficulty)
The eye-patch is in the right place and this bloke certainly kicks ass like the real Nick Fury. (It's no wonder the Americans won the Revolutionary War! :-))

Narrator Setback Pool: 2Angry now, Captain Britain flies straight up... and up... and up!OOC I assume as he flies by willpower rather than wings that there'd be no restrictions on flight."If you ARE the real Nick Fury, and you certainly seem to hit like him, who arranged the bombing of Braddock Manor? The real Fury would know that! And if you AREN'T Nick Fury, I sure hope you know a way to land safely from a mile up if you decide to press your advantage!" he grunted (in pain presumably) OOC Tod Radcliffe of STRIKE is the answer which the real Fury would know - seeing as he killed the Nazi with a poison dart from his stogie!

Fury releases his grip to leap back down to the ground 30 feet below.
Acrobatics check to mitigate falling damage. As a skilled paratrooper, he has the Acrobatics Specialty and can roll twice and take the better result.
([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=16 ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=10
Neither roll is over 20, so there is no bonus to his Soak.
Rolling for the fall damage before the Soak.
30' Fall: ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x3=21
Soak: ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=14
Nick Fury takes 7 Hits, but still may land on his feet thanks to Martial Arts (Fast Styles). He needs to make a 20 Athletics/Acrobatics check.
([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=18 ([dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=16
No dice. Fury's landing knocks the wind out of him and he is unable to answer Captain Britain's interrogation.
Instead the two SHIELD agents open fire at Captain Britain!
I'm using Swat Team/Special Forces stats from page 72. The Attack value for this type of minion is 21 and I add 5 for the second minion for a total of 26.
Captain Britain's Defense Roll: ([dice=6]+[dice=6]+[dice=6])x2=28
The SHIELD Agents miss Captain Britain!

The Captain swoops down to land near Fury, in such a way that the Agents will have to hold their fire or hit their Boss.
He would normally use his own body as a shield for others but felt so bruised and battered from the mauling he'd gotten thus far he knew a stiff breeze would drop him.
"Just answer the question Fury!" he hissed. "Who ordered the bombing of Braddock Manor?"
Captain Britain hoped this WAS the real Fury. Nothing made sense, but at least he knew that the Colonel could be trusted, if he was the 'real deal' as Americans would say.
ACTIONS
Go on the defensive. One hit will bring the Captain down I reckon. So dodge, block, take only defensive action. If Fury gives the right answer he'll call out for the Agents to hold their fire, and ask Fury to get them to stand down... If he gives the wrong answer, or none at all... eeesh. We'll have to see. Cap is in no shape to take on SHIELD agents....

Fury stands up from his previous prone position and answers Captain Britain only with, "Strike One". He then lights himself a fresh stogie. "I've thought over what ya said about leavin' behind a superhero defense force. There are worse ideas. I'll mention this to my pals at the U.N. In the meantime, I trust Captain Marvel to keep an eye on you."Brian now notices the Avenger approaching across the front lawn from the front of the manor. "Let's go men. Captain and... Captain, I'll be in touch." Captain Britain's Hits: 5/100 Captain Britain's Hero Points: 4 Captain Britain's Hero Dice: 0This turned out to be a short chapter. Next is Chapter 4: Panic in the Streets, I'd like to try again to find a player for Captain Marvel though. Any suggestions?

OOC I'll ask a couple of my players - David has just joined up in the DC heroes game I'm running here, and is active (every day, several times a day) poster in both DC Heroes games I run on my own site, so I'll ask if he wants to hop on board. If he didn't want Captain Marvel and would prefer Britain, I'll take Ms Rambeau instead. I'll ask the question.
