ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/Hope everyone had a GREAT Halloween. We were hoping that we might be able to release the latest section of the Spider-Man's Guide to New York project, but there were a couple more polishing touches we wanted to make prior to releasing it. (Nothing but the best and all that.) We are working really hard and are hoping to release it very shortly... so keep a close eye on this forum, and on the official Spidey site. As we continue to work on this project we are interested in getting some feedback from the MURPG community... so if you have a minute, read through the following questions and respond to those which apply. - Has anyone played any of the characters included in the released character packs? What were the pro's and con's of the characters. - Which of the characters released so far is your favorite, and why? - Which released Spider-Man villain do you think is the funnest to play, most challenging, overall best villain? Repeat for the hero's. Thanks for everyone's support. This latest section has been a challenge for us, but we think it is going to be well worth the extra work and time it has taken to get it prepared for release. We look forward to your comments and are excited to soon announce the new section for the book. Tomasina ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/

I played Sandman for a one-shot. Morlun showed up as an NPC, too, although I don't think the GM used his stats, just improvised his actions. At any rate, Sandman was rather fun to play, even though his actions/options are a lot to read and try to decide what to use. I don't think there's any good way around that, though. (Also, can he increase his Strength all the way up to 10? He can use his Mastery Number for Strength, boost that 3 points by absorbing sand, and 2 points with Manipulate Body Density, or something like that, I don't have the stats in front of me at the moment.)
I haven't used anyone else's stats yet, but I'll hopefully use Cloak and Dagger as NPCs this weekend. I'll probably forget to mention how well I think they worked out, but hopefully someone will remind me.
Also, I'm wondering, how well would the Werewolf's stats work for Man-Wolf? Or how easily could Sandman's stats be adjusted for Hydro-Man?

Yes. Sandman was indeed a challenge to build for that very reason. In fact we had to change him 3 times before we felt we got him "right". And yes, you're correct regarding Sandman's ability to boost his strength to 10. He can boost his Strength to Mastery # and then place stones into manipulate body density to increase his strength to 7. (Keep in mind though, he must keep at least 1 stone into the density control action box, in order to maintain the increased density.) If he's by a beach, or another place where there's a lot of sand available, he can increase his strength by another 3 for a maximum strength of ten.
Can you use the Werewolf stats for Manwolf? Surely! Though might want to make the following adjustments.
Intelligence: 4/1 Close Combat: 3/5 Add Ranged Combat: 3/0 Replace General Knowledge with Black Ops: 4/0 (Surveillance, Security) Increase Vehicle Operations to 4, and replace "Motorcycles" with the following 2 specialties: Test Planes, Jet Aircraft Also, replace his Social Skill specialties with the following: Social Work, Politics, Assylum Culture,
Finally, since Man-Wolf was not a traditional werewolf, you can remove his susceptibility to magic and silver.
As for how Hydro-Man stacks up against Sandman, well they're very similar, but you'll just have to wait and see on the details, since Hydro-Man is one of the characters included in our bonus pack prizes!
Thanks for the comments... it is great to hear how the characters and rules are working in the 'real world'. Can't wait to release the new section and get your feedback.
