Hey all! This thread is going to be for gear that should be buyable with $$$ rather than stones. What I'm looking for here is stuff which:
1) Exists (more or less) in real life 2) Should cost $ rather than White or Red stones to buy 3) Can use the game rules 4) Doesn't already exist in one of the 3 (or 4) books
My first thought is something like a Swiss Army Knife or other multi-tool. I realize the Kree Army Knife already exists in the main book, but that costs stones and probably provides a better bonus than a SAK. Maybe the SAK merely would allow certain Actions (like Technology) to be attempted (maybe even with a situational mod penalty)?
Secondly, shotguns and flamethrowers? These things exist in real life and should probably be mechanically different than standard firearms. Any suggestions on how they should be handled? Maybe shotguns (firing pellet rather than slug ammo) should have Rg 2 and AoE (or collateral) dmg? Perhaps Flamethrowers should follow the guidelines they use for flamethrower powered armor? Hit me up with your ideas! Thanks.

Alright, I'll take first crack at this. The humble shotgun. Now, we know that a Rifle is buyable on cash alone to be +4, 2x Dmg, Range 5. Obviously this is a maximum. I suppose if I look at the Options table I can reduce the Range by 3 and get this as my best possible shotgun....
Shotgun: Area of Effect. Rg2. 2x Dmg. By reducing the maximum range I have added the Area Effect trait to the weapon. I feel that this is a fair exchange. Obviously other shotguns would be possible with less damage, maybe better ranges. The one I've written up here represents a high gauge shotgun firing shot rather than slugs (ie solid rounds). Obviously reduced ammunition capacity would further help to balance it against rifles.
