"I'll be there," Iron Man was more than ready to join this mission, "Give me a minute or two to figure out how to fly these crazy alien vehicles, and I'll be right with you."

He inspected the strange equipment the Beyonder had provided, feeling that if their opposite numbers within the villainous faction could figure them out, then so could he. Yet he had to admit this was still a million miles away from anything in his air force experience. But by the time the storm had abated enough for them to leave the Herobase, Rhodey was determined to have at least figured out how to get one of these crates moving.

Hawkeye

In the Auto-Kitchen with some of the alien refugees, when he is mentally contacted by Professor Xavier.

Hawkeye willingly volunteers to help with the plan. Acting as a leader is not really his biggest forte, but he's willing to if no one else steps up. Otherwise, he is gonna do what he dose best. Snipe and/or cover fire.

Day 2, Evening

The tempest is rough on the heroes who brave the wind and thunder to cross the Heroes' Plain in an armored halftrack.

Their mission is to set up a lookout somewhere between Herobase and the Volcanic Plains where the villain's base has been detected about 500 miles away. 100 miles NEE of Herobase, the terrain changes from gentle, rolling hills to more pronounced reddish-orange geological formations. All wet, windy and extremely dangerous due to the nasty weather!

"Yep, can think of ...oh, a million other places I'd rather be right now. And doing a zillion other things." moaned Johnny as looked through the windows of the half track. If he was the best driver in the group (off the top of my head, might be him or Hawkeye) he'll take the controls and call over to Spiderman. "Yo, webs, keep your eyes open for bad guys and nasty stuff. Most of the goons we've fought so far are yours, so I figure most of this mess is your fault."

Hopefully steer towards better terrain/weather

Iron Man kept his radar running, alert for any dangers even if he had to wonder how the horrendous atmospheric conditions might cause problems for his early-warning system. Rhodey made sure to keep a watchful eye out for any trouble his radar might miss, certainly not wanting to be caught in an ambush while they were hoping to use the element of surprise against their enemies.

"Eyes on the road, Torch," he pointed out to Johnny when he felt the younger hero might be a little side-tracked by his bromantic bantering, "If you crash this thing and wreck my armor, you're gonna have bigger problems than the Beyonder or Doc Doom's army of villains when Stark sends you the repair bill."

Oh come on, this is still better than mid-town traffic! Spidey tried to keep the mood light as they traveled, relying on his spider-senses to warn him if anything bad was going to happen.

The tempest shows no sign of letting up. Human Torch's best hope of ensuring the groups survival is to find shelter to camp for the night. Fortunately, Iron Man's radar detects some geological formations up ahead that might be caves.

Spider-Man's senses tell him that the rain, wind and thunder are all extremely dangerous. She-Hulk might be able to survive such weather, but guys like Hawkeye and Professor X would barely last 10 seconds without protection.

While I realize the situation may be dire I shall investigate the area and ensure we will not be walking into an ambush.

"Ok, this doesn't rank amongst the greatest ideas in the annals of mankind. Must be your fault somehow Spidey. No idea why, but it's the only explanation that makes sense." quipped the Torch.

With it clearly not being safe enough to fly, Torch tried his best to find the safest route - away from potential landslides, cliff edges, that sort of thing. He glanced over at Professor X, then wondered if the man had read his mind. Chuckling at the prospect he muttered "Might liven up his day a little" as he whistled to himself.

Iron Man remained alert, ready to protect any of the more vulnerable heroes with his armored body should the situation call for it.

Day 2, Night

By nightfall the small band of heroes, including Hawkeye, Human Torch, Iron Man, Professor X and Spider-Man have found a cave with a good view of the area between Herobase and the Villains from which to keep watch as they remain sheltered from the storm.

They must now decide who will sleep and who will keep watch throughout the night.

"I'll take the first watch," Iron Man volunteered, "My suit's radar should be able to pick up on any activity from the Villains, if they try to slip past us during the night."

Johnny settles back to catch some zzzzs. "Hey, if any of you guys need a fire or anything, you just holler. Thing is, might be seen by someone - or something - out there so depends on how much sleep you plan on getting."

With a shrug he tried to find something soft - bushes, moss etc - to lie on. "Hey spidey" he whispers. "You given any thought about what we're going to do if we can't get back home? You got family back there? Seems I've known you for years but I guess I don't really know you - the real you. Just sayin."

Hawkeye Looked at them and nods. "Well tell you what Torch if I find anything resembling water you can be our one man hot tub engine. After that pretty much you can snore all you want. I'm heading to higher ground so we got someone at sniper's post" Hawkeye said sarcastically. He gets his quiver and bow and finds a spot not to far away where he can try to get a view of the area.
