"Mutants, created by that force which denied out great Lord. His servants of evil sent to corrupt the minds of our young, to turn them from the true path. Though it is true that an eye for an eye is against his creed, also, does it not say that our lord shall not return for our second resurrection until the world is cleansed of evil that those who are not pure of thought will burn in the lake of fire? I tell you, these Mutants are sent to see us all burn within the lake. I say, we must cleanse this Earth and allow those who survive to see the Light of the Lord. But know, also does our lord say 'Let he who lives by the sword, die by the sword'. Know that we shall die, but in our deaths, glory shall grow. We shall pave the pathway to heaven, that our brothers and sisters in this world might know the bounty of the Lord!" The voice of Jason Stryker rang from his pulpit, echoing from the converted warehouse and back towards the large group of worshippers who stood before him. Their voices suddenly roared in support their feverous behaviour swelling and multiplying like amoebae in agar.

The surveillance footage ended throwing the meeting room into momentary darkness before the lights were flicked on. Several faces looked uncomfortably from the screen to the folders they had open, a few seemed more than pleased and weren't hiding it. The man at the far end of the table indicated a, now frozen, image of Jason Stryker, "Clearly, this man is dangerous. His practices violent, his actions without control or true planning. But, as we all agree, his words bear a modicum of truth. Mutants are dangerous, especially new ones. With the sudden resurgence of their kind, once again humanity is at risk. We have a duty to protect our people. We must act now, or he will surely doom us to the retribution of the most dangerous kind." the image shifted, showing images of the Phoenix in all of its fiery forms.
"We cannot, do as the Mutants did and, say 'No more Mutants'. But, we can limit their danger, control them. If you turn to Appendix C, you will see my recommendations for our solution. Each has a reason to assist us: some are purely mercenary; others have a hatred for Mutants; and a few, are what the media terms 'former mutants' struggling or bitter without their powers. Take a moment, look over my plans, but I am certain you will agree with them..."

The Defenders, a small, surgical team designed to defend human-kind from the newly resurgent mutant threat. Each has a reason to combat the 'Mutant threat', each knows they will be charged with apprehending and potentially 'neutralising' new Mutants. Of course, there is a hefty remuneration for their services should it be needed ensuring even the most mercenary of sorts is willing to join.
Character creation is 35 stones plus up to 10 in challenges. Please be aware that Durability is not an Ability, instead it is the Average of your Health, Energy and Energy Regeneration scores- each paid for as a standard ability.
