So, a little history first. I tried to read Harry Potter when it first came out and was the fad and all over the place. I could not get through it. I was just kind of meh about it. Maybe part of that reason was I just got done reading Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind and some other things.
Then about a month ago i got into a conversation with my sister in law and a few other people and they acted like it was a crime against humanity for me not to have read Harry Potter. Without thinking anything else about that conversation a week later I got a box in the mail and it had all 7 Harry Potter books which my sister in law sent me. So, I decided I would give them another chance.
The Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets: This were really light and meant for very younger readers. It had a lot of setting set up and whatnot. To me, they were still a little hard to get through but easy reads.
Prisoner of Azkaban: This was actually a good book. I really enjoyed all of the character stuff and the dark of the book and the story. It even had a lot of cloak and dagger and the whole concept of the Dementors and the Dementer kiss was just amazing. I need to use their concept for my next game.
Goblet of Fire: So, this one had some cool things in it and I liked some of the history to it but it was a disappointment after reading the last one. Did not hold a flame to it at all. It finally picked up around chapter 30 - then it got really good. It made me feel like this book was all set up for the next bok.
Well, this is wear I am at and I actually appreciate the setting an idea. I hope it continues to get better.
