I do love the midnight sons, but that would imply crafting the data files since (as far as I know) there aren't any. Personally, still undecided, it tends to happen when I think of playing existing characters. Midnight Sons also means a fairly limited scope for the game, where being "The Avengers" or "The New Fantastic Four" gives us wider access to the Marvel Universe. I love Midnight Sons, but as an opening for a new version of the Marvel U (which is what his DC game was, at any rate), it may not be the best "entry point."

WK has a point. We will do Midnight Sons some other time.

Are we doing this as an "origin" story btw? Because if we're doing the "origin" of The Avengers, I would really like to start out with Cap frozen if at all possible. I think that, if I'm playing Cap, I would really like to start off with the initial total shock of being alive and in an almost totally alien world.

Yeah, we are doing the origin story of the Avengers.

Yeah, we are doing the origin story of the Avengers. Cool, would you be amenable to having Cap thaw out in the initial adventure?

Oh, and if we expand into the Guardians of the Galaxy, I call Groot. (Alternatively, if there were interest, I would run the GoG side of this setting if SK wanted to get in as a player)

Cap can start just being thawed out.
Also, DIBS ON STARLORD!

That's true, Midnight Sons would make for a fairly odd starting point.

That's true, Midnight Sons would make for a fairly odd starting point. ... unless the sudden arrival of supernatural forces is the "instigating event" that starts the super hero frenzy. Hadn't really considered that one. We're used to something more like Hydra or a Doctor Doom-like figure, but it just occurred to me that the world might feel the need for something like The Avengers if Mephisto just decided to unleash Hell on Earth itself one day. In that case, Midnight Sons might make an interesting prologue. Still pretty limiting in terms of character options though. Anyone and everyone can be an Avenger. The Midnight Sons require a certain sort of background.

The Midnight Sons require a certain sort of background. It could work if you switch the focus entirely, it would be a Marvel full of Tomb of Dracula, Man-Thing and Strange Tales. It sounds like a cool game, but also like another game and not this one

I like my Hulk concept I'm working on, but I'm not sure if I really like it for an Avengers game. I think I'll try to play Hank Pym instead, and I want to use both growth and shrinking but I'm not in love with the Yellowjacket outfit/persona. Could I be Ant Man and still grow and shrink? Or else I might try to do the same thing while still using the Goliath code name. Or maybe he needs to steal another insect-themed codename...

I've always liked the idea of Hank Pym simply calling himself "Pym" or going by his actual name. The guy discovered a sub-atomic particle and named it after himself. I'm not saying that he's got an ego, I'm just sayin... 8)
I'd enjoy seeing you playing as Pym though, regardless (and really look forward to any opportunity to play alongside you as well)

Any suggestions from the crew as to which Avenger that suits me well? TBH I start to feel guilty every time I want to say Strange or Thor. :-p

Any suggestions from the crew as to which Avenger that suits me well? TBH I start to feel guilty every time I want to say Strange or Thor. :-p I have no problem with Thor in theory, but his datafile in the game is the most broken piece of garbage in all of Marvel Heroic. Thor's official datafile can hand Hulk's official datafile it's ass without breaking a sweat. I have no idea what they were thinking. Strange is a fine choice, IMO. The Datafile is good, but not overwhelming. I played him quite a bit in Civil War and found that, if anything, the restrictions he has make him feel much less powerful than I felt he should be. He's more powerful than, say, Cap or Spider-Man, but he's not going to dominate the game.

Wait, scratch that, I just remembered... we eventually figured out that Doctor Strange can "complicate" any enemy out of a fight in a single round with ease due to his d12 and SFX combo.
... this game really does fall apart almost completely when you've got heavy hitters on the board
