Ooooh, and if character creation allows, perhaps each emotion has a certain power, meaning he may have to unleash an emotion he doesn't want to in order to accomplish a certain task.

Oh that sounds really neat! I'm trying to steer away from any nuances to powers because I don't know how power creation will work, but I like that. You think he should have control over the emotion that's released/the power associated or should it be more random? LIke he wants to be in two places but one of the emotions happens to be pure unadulterated rage and it's coupled with superhuman strength or should he be able to say "I'm going to go film some of the A team out in Manhattan cleaning up after a brutal terror strike so I want to just bring compassion and invisbility" or "I'm going to film some of the A team out in Manhattan cleaning up after a brutal terror strike and, though I want compassion, that comes with laser eyes and I'd rather be Invisible even though it means I'll be a cynical prick."

You think he should have control over the emotion that's released/the power associated or should it be more random? Control gives it an interesting aspect. If he knows that when he needs super speed (for instance), it means unleashing his insecurity (for instance), it means that he has to weigh allowing others to see his insecurity manifest in order to accomplish the goal. Maybe he can work around it, maybe he just has to let go and deal with the fallout. Randomizing it jumps straight to the "deal with the fallout" part, but also allows DK the flexibility to do what he does 8)

Okay, so my thoughts: I want to use that "amateur vlogger/Andrew Wells" type character for this game. His mutation should somehow connect to that, so I'm either thinking something that would let him run around observe what's going on around him (Multiple Man-style or maybe Invisibility?) or some kind of Telepathy/Empathy that gives him a deep understanding of people around him and has spurred him into documenting what they're all up to. On the flip side, it could be fun to play his power against his characterization. Maybe he's a gentle giant type whose friendliness and fondness for directing/art is contrasted by his ability to turn into a dragon or his mastery over some element that manifests itself hideously. Third option is that he could have a somewhat useless ability that he feels the need to compensate for by being a "journalist" of sorts around the school. That's a cool idea! I could see that working with a duplication power, and this could be one of the rulesets where that kind of character could be relatively easily tenable at chargen. Quick tangent: for those who can tolerate ridiculous anime, HunterXHunter is a great example of characters with weird powers using them in creative ways. They have a character who divides himself up into smaller copies of himself, and he's one of the more overpowered characters. There's also characters with powers themed around topics as diverse as haiku, accounting, and vacuuming, amongst others, and most of them are very clever with using their powers offensively (and in some cases in multiple ways). Not sure if I can recommend the whole series, but it has some inspiring characters and powersets.

I haven't played smallville yet, either. Interested to hear more about how the rules are going to work.. this all sounds too good.

Actually going to withdraw my vote to get into this. As great as it sounds, with Last War in Heaven and Teen Titans, I know I'll wind up pushing one of the games off to the side and I'd rather make sure I'm 100% on everything.

So this is the list of potential players from what I can tell: GrisWildKnightshenrontakewithfoodDharkRinjolilithsboy (I'd be willing take you if you're willing to learn the system alongside most of the rest of us and have fun That's one person more than I wanted to take, but I think I could make 7 players work. That's about my limit. I'll be getting the Pathways thread up soon (probably tonight).

At the moment I'm not sure if I have the time to commit, so if there isn't room I can easily step aside.
Well, it won't be easy: I'll probably cry myself to sleep for a few nights. But I'm willing to take one for the team.
