A young boy places his hand on the windows, staring frightened out into the grey.
A reassuring voice offers: "Don't you worry, son. Nothing bad happens in this city."
An older man places a hand on the young boy's shoulder, his own face hidden in the shadows.
"Hello? Is this thing on? Hello?"
A resounding banging echoes through the fuzzy static in three sharp thuds.
"Ahem. Hello. Ain't this a real peach? 'Nothing bad happens in this city'? What a joke! And *I* should know! You see, you go to bed at night, thinking: 'I'm safe, tucked in under the sheets, and the good guys will win, and everything's right with the world.' But just who *are* the good guys, I might ask? Are *you* one of the good guys? Don't make me laugh! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHOHOHEEHEE!"
The boy bolted up from his bed, screaming: "I'm scared!"
Lighting flashed as the television power cut out, revealing the man in the shadows standing ever dutifully by his ward: "The clown, again?"
The young boy solemnly nodded, gripping the covers, his knuckles white.
"It's alright, young Bruce. Go back to sleep. Nothing bad ever happens in this city."
Lightning flashed again, the silhouette of a bat's ears passing into and out of view.
"I'll make sure of it."

[OOC: So...you knew this was coming, right? MCR's back in business, ready to revive Gotham. The city where nothing bad ever happens*. There was something of an abortive attempt way back when that is in definite need of new blood, which really only makes sense if everyone's on the same page from the get-go.
In this reboot, I imagine a group of 4-6 players, one of which will take on the lead role. Comicfan may have already called dibs. And Andyman expressed interest in Plastic Man (though as ever his tend to be characters I'll have a hard time writing for). The idea is that this is set in the heart of Gotham, where nothing bad ever happens*.
The idea in the original game was that teenage Bruce was on the path to inheriting his destiny as Batman, and going through the growing pains of life as a superhero in the making, a la Smallville. I'm not sure at this stage how close I plan to stick to the original concept, and this may depend in large part on the temperature of the interest expressed (if any).
If there's enough interest, we can talk concepts and mechanics. The original game used an older Cortex variant, from which Marvel Heroic evolved, and should be easy enough to learn. I'm not 100% positive on this, but I do think the Cortex/MH system could work here with some tweaks, and I am more than happy to help anyone learn the basics.
Thoughts?
In a shameless bit of self-promotion, if there's enough mutual interest, we can tie this into the other origin game I'm cooking up.
So: join the party. After all, nothing bad ever happens in Gotham, right?*
*I should trademark that...]
