I might do something for this. Any deadlines? Not yet. I've got the deadline for SHIELD coming up tomorrow, then I'll worry about this (although they're somewhat related projects, which is why I'm squishing the start of both so close together) |

I was responding to a question from Travis, and thought I'd just go ahead and share my response publicly as I'm riffing along here, building (the initial) world of 2115. This being a time travel story, of course, its entirely possible some of these details will change once this story is through.
Ragnarok happened, nobody knows what's up with Thor (but probably dead in Ragnarok). Asgard either doesn't exist anymore or is inaccessible (some of the more savvy Asgardians might know which), the remaining Asgardians have taken up residence in what used to be Minnesota.
Globally, almost everything is under Corporate Control directly now, with very few places making any kind of distinction between Corporate and Government entities. New York, for example, is the "New York Metroplex" (covering most of the traditional Northeast), and is run by OsCorp, which is itself part of a loose confederation of Corporations that run almost all of what used to be the United States.
There really isn't any kind of regular military. Mercenary Organizations (such as "Deadpool Inc.") are hired when Corporations need more than their own in-house security can provide. The same is true of policing, its handled by corporate security teams and sometimes Mercs.
Normal, non-ultra wealthy people have basically nothing in the way of basic rights; most of their lives are constantly monitored, and the kinds of basic protections offered by the Bill of Rights are pretty much all a thing of the past. Religion, for instance, either has to be State Approved, or kept entirely private and within the home.
