Dejected and weakened, the once powerful mutant Apocalypse stumbles into his celestial powered chamber. Slowly crawling to his machine his labored breath increases with every step. As finally touches the glass of the rejuvenation chamber a shadowy figure emerges in the doorway. Without turning around to face the man, the once mighty mutant addresses his executioner.
“You!”
The figure speaks without remorse, with a cold chilling tone.
Yes. Your time is over. You are weak. My time is now. I am your judge... I have come to separate the chaff from the wheat.”
With that he stepped toward his prey, as Apocalypse’s features twist into a snarl.
“You would use my own words against me? Who are you?”
As he steps closer the man laughs.
“I am the future… and you are the fallen.”

So who here is interested in an X-Man themed game? I’m looking to make it close to a modern cinematic-type universe as I can, but also keeping things in the spirit of the comics we know and love.
My plan is to introduce characters off with a slow introduction to my 3356 universe in an issue or two, before jumping into the “Meat” of an X-Men gamE just a couple interesting/fun one shot or two.
One of the concepts I have been toying around with in my head (and I think this game might be a prime candidate) is a board-wide "Self-Sustaining Universe" event-like game. The system/game would work like this...
- Each player will have the chance to submit CADs and also comment on and approve other player's CADs. Players can only play with character CADs that are accepted by all other players.
- Similar to how each Marvel movie has a different director, however fits into a streamline set of events (Phase); all players will work together in order to propel a plot forward. This means each comic will have a player and a GM (or more, if the situation warrants) and work together with updates to form a cohesively built storyline.
- With this simple framework set-up players and GMs can update a comic (come and go due to RL issues) as much as they wish. Thus a game will not “Die due to updates.” Players and GMs who are quick responders can update a comic as often as they want, while players who drop by weekly or (in my case) monthly can also have a say in the stories, and post.
Anyways, here are the mains:
Rules:
RULES:
- MURPG Rules.
- My Game Specific Rules are here.
- Post CAD submissions here.
- X-Men/Marvel characters only please. That said; these don’t have to necessarily have a mainstream-like or ultimate-type background. Any interesting character is a good character.
- Although at heart it is based on comic books, I plan on having this game as “True to life” as I can. I am looking for a (realistic) cinematic adaptation on characters with a slight comic book feel; meaning that I am looking for semi-vulnerable characters that have visible limitations. If in doubt, think of the latest Marvel movies and you will see what I’m talking about.
- Health/Energy/Regeneration will be separated into three different abilities.
Stone Count:
For this game I am looking into starting players off at several tier levels (although this is not set in stone, as I may change the count up or down depending on the power level on the CADs I receive). Please I need everyone to send me a “Student” CAD first, and if you want to be a teacher/ect. (and we actually have enough to look over students) then let me know and we can “Upgrade” your CAD. These Tier Levels are as follows:
Tier Level 1 (“Student”): This player will be role playing a student here in the X-Men game. For this game, I want everyone to first send me their character stated as a "Student" first before we discuss on "Upgrading them" to a higher tier, if preferred by the player. These players will start with 40+5 stones to create their starting characters. Each issue will grant them an amount of stones (instead of lines of Experience) to be added to character sheets.
Tier Level 2 (“Teacher/Team Member”): This player will be role playing a teacher and or an X-Man team member here in the X-Men game. These players will start with 55+5 stones to create their starting characters. Each issue will grant them an amount of stones (instead of lines of Experience) to be added to character sheets.
Tier Level 3 (“Established Marvel Character”): This player will be role playing an “Established Marvel Character” in the X-Men game (mainly characters widely known and long-running, this list includes but isn't limited to characters such as Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, Gambit, ect.). While mostly reserved for NPCs, I can make exceptions if needed for storylines. These players will start the game with 65+5 stones to create their starting characters. Each issue will grant them an amount of stones (instead of lines of Experience) to be added to character sheets.
Tier Level 4 (“Villain”): This player will be role playing a “Villain” here in the X-Men game. While mostly reserved for NPCs, I can make exceptions if needed for storyline purposes. If the character is represented in the book, then for the most part the stone count will be what you see in the book +20 stones; if the character isn't presented in the book then we will need to work together on how this character will be represented. If this is an option for you, please PM me for further details so that we can talk about what we both see conceptually for the game.
