These are some ideas I'm kicking around for the broader "Roaring 20's" setting. If anyone is interested in playing characters associated with any of these ideas, please let me know. Depending on numbers, it would likely be mostly solo games, or possibly a sort of ad hoc Justice League thing. Please note that none of these are plans that are set in stone, they're just ideas right now.
This is mostly here because I have no better place to put it, but you guys can feel free to read and give feedback if you'd like. These ideas aren't set in stone, they're just ideas at this point.
Krypton/Superman: Krypton was a focal point of intergalactic culture due to Krypton's unparalleled level of scientific achievement. Nearly all species (including Earthlings) that appear "human" are actually Kryptonian offshoots, though some are hundreds of thousands of years removed from their Kryptonian ancestry. Earth was once a Kryptonian experiment, with Kryptonian DNA laced into primitive local species. The dinosaurs were (mostly) wiped out in order to lay the groundwork for and protect this experiment. Ancient tales of gods are largely based on oral histories relating visits from Kryptonians (and potentially, other aliens) to various early Earth cultures. The destruction of Krypton is not due to natural disasters, but an attack on Krypton by Brainiac, an attack orchestrated by an alliance of other alien species looking to end Krypton's grip on galactic culture once and for all.
ALTERNATIVE CONCEPT: Doomsday, rather than Brainiac, was the instrument of vengeance against Krypton.
Amazonians/Wonder Woman: Long ago, a team of Kryptonian scientists were sent to observe the evolution of Earth culture, but they crash landed, and saw no hope of retrieval. Instead of abandoning their mission, they isolated themselves and observed, keeping copious notes. In order to continue the mission, they began the practice of kidnapping locals with which to create offspring. Since the leaders of the original mission were women, a clear Matriarchy emerged and, as generations passed, they forgot their true purpose. Local tales equated them with the gods, and they began to believe this themselves. In spite of their Kryptonian ancestry, Amazons are not as physically potent as full-blooded Kryptonians because of generations of diluted genetics, but they make up for this with access to Earth magic, and a lack of vulnerability to the various forms of kryptonite.
The Green Lantern Corps: Before the Kruptonians spread across the universe, the most advanced culture was that of the Guardians, who harnessed the power of both technology and magic. With the rise of the Kryptonian colonies, the Guardians withdrew from the Galaxy, but they maintained a watchful eye through the so-called Green Lantern Corps. When Krypton was destroyed over two decades ago, the Guardians immediately sprang into action, recruiting new Lanterns and assigning them sectors of space to defend, to ward off the chaos of the new power vacuum.
The Speed Force: The Speed Force was a known scientific principle to the Kryptonians, essential to their method of Faster-Than-Light insterstellar travel. They were warned, most vocally by the Guardians of Oa, that tapping into the Speed Force with their technologies held enormous danger. With the destruction of Krypton, the technology that tapped into Speed Force has been permanently lost. The last vessel carrying that technology rocketed to Earth some 20+ years ago, carrying a most precious cargo...
Atlantis: Despite their mostly human-like appearance, Atlanteans are natives of Earth, evolved from undersea creatures that weren't wiped out in the mass extinction caused by the Kryptonians to pave the way for human life on Earth. Atlantean evolution nearly parallels that of human evolution, except that Atlanteans are amphibious. At one time, around Earth's "classical" period, the Atlanteans had a scientifically advanced culture of their own, and nearly achieved interstellar travel, but were deemed a threat by the Kryptonians, and their surface cities, including mythical Atlantis, were destroyed. To this day, Atlanteans hold a grudge against surface dwellers, from whom they remain a secret (for the most part), and whom they associate with the Kryptonians who attacked them.
