(OOC: I hope I managed to do good despite it, but my stupid 'a' key works super badly today for some reason. I apologize for any typing mistakes I might have missed.)
Two years have passed since the L.A Incident, a puzzling catastrophe seemingly mixed in with mass hallucination, where the entire City of Los Angeles apparently vanished from the world for months, leaving behind an immense crater... before reappearing, damaged, but safe... mostly. Thousands had died, many more had disappeared without a trace, and multiple accounts of demons and monsters were issued to the authorities by many survivors, while others had simply entirely forgotten what had happened. The incident was not without bringing back the Sunnydale crater to people's minds, a California town destroyed under similarly mysterious circumstances not too long before. Again, gas leaks were blamed, along with a potential temporary madness due to the hallucinations causing the ensuing violence in the city. The city's rebuilding project is well on its way, nd life has slowly returned to normal. Still, despite those two cities' fate, the world remained mostly normal... as far as ordinary folks knew.
Modern day... New York City. The Big Apple. One of the biggest, most renowned, wealthiest and populated cities in the world. Filled with hopes, dreams and desires of the 8 millions and more inhabitants who live there every day, and night. Unbeknownst to its local population, however, NYC isn't without its darker sides. Organized crime, street gangs, petty criminals and corruption of city officials... as many threats and problems facing the average New Yorker every day.
But at night, it gets far worse. For NYC hides within its less-than-holy depths one of the largest, and most dangerous Hellmouths on the planet. The city is a massive entry point for the supernatural, and vampire, spirits, and demons frequently terrorize people, who try their hardest to dismiss those tales as nothing more than superstition. Ancient cults and secret societies work together and against one another to bring back menaces from eons past. Untold perils awaits their chance outside the thin dimensional wall keeping the world safe, silently plotting to rip it open and invade this world again. And of course, new foes of Mankind appear every day to make the city's life even more... interesting.
Thankfully, while the legendary Slayer Buffy Summers has her own duties to deal with in Europe, the Powers that Be keep watch, and gather new heroes, in the hopes of turning the tide... as Evil - with a capital E - draws ever so near.
You are those heroes.
Welcome to the Buffyverse, a world of badass martial arts, powerful and dangerous witchcraft, deadly artefacts, terrifying monsters, bloodthirsty vampires, massive demons, hi-tech guns, good ole swords, old-fashioned Englishmen who boss around young female heroines, and so many other things.
This game, as mentioned in my interest check thread, will make use of the Eden studios' Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel roleplaying game system, which itself functions with the Unisystem.
I will take 3 to 5 players (preferably 4), either with the Investigator (closer to normal humans, but with bigger 'luck' so to speak, thanks to Drama points) or Champions (usually more badass, often supernatural, but fewer drama points), player's choice. If it was me, I would ask for a 50:50 ratio, but I will go with 'whichever you want', and adjust difficulty based on what you pick.
Investigators
Attributes: 15
Qualities: 10
Drawbacks: Up to 10
Skills: 25
Drama: 20
Suggestions of ideas: Watcher, Student, Scooby member, Cop/Private investigator, Gang member, Witches, Techies, Any young person with supernatural powers they barely control yet, Geeks, anyone young/inexperienced with minor powers/skills/abilities focus who can be quite talented at a few things but are unlikely to be heavy hitters all across the board.
********************
Champions
Attributes: 20
Qualities: 20
Drawbacks: Up to 10
Skills: 30
Drama: 10
Suggestions of ideas: Slayers, Vampires with a soul, Powerful witches, Initiative Soldiers, Honorable demons, Monster hunters with trenchcoats, wide-brim hats, and cool weapons; professional assassins, high-rank martial artists, mercenaries, immortal swordsmen, etc.
If you have a concept you want to discuss, ask about, know whether it's possible or ask questions about, go head. If you got the books and can build the character, no problem. If you want to ask to create a new Quality (be it a new Demon species or something), contact me or ask me here. I'm open to ideas, suggestions, comments, and questions. Hve fun!
NOTE: I would like if there could be at least 1/2 of the main cast being 'technically humans' characters if possible, but it is not an absolute requirement.
