The day has arrived, and even if I never hoped for something like this, the optimism returned when John Wick bought back the brand months ago. Kickstarting not only a book, but a whole new line of books, and offering as a wink ALL of the old ones as pdf files, 7th Sea Second Edition has been funded in minutes and sails (sorry, had to) to being quite the success. As a fan that has been playing from release to a month ago, I'm beyond hype.

Five more days to go, and this thing has shattered all records for a pen and paper rpg. I knew that there was a lot of nostalgic 7th Sea fans out there, but so many... it's kind of crazy. Also maybe John Wick's reputation isn't as bad as I would have expected to be. In any case I'm glad that a game I love is coming back (and my friends and I are already throwing money at the screen and sorting a pledge, of course)

I dunno. There's a lot of Wick bashing at the rpgsite.

I dunno. There's a lot of Wick bashing at the rpgsite. My friends and I pledged 300 bucks or so for a special edition book, a normal one and some swag out of love for the setting. We played the quick start and liked the general direction of it. After years and years of playing 7th Sea first edition (and quite some L5R too) we know that Wick gonna Wick so we are kind of buying in the renewed setting and ready to butcher his rules if needed (knowing him, it probably will be needed). As a bonus track the kickstarter has pdf copies of all the old books included (most of them we own in very used state in Spanish) that runs for quite the money in drivethrurpg, so for us is quite the deal. Worst case scenario: We adapt the world, change the rules and keep playing with a new timeline and nicer maps.
