So, I've got not one, not two, not five, but four different ideas I've been sort of considering. I obviously don't want to run all four, and I'm indecisive, so I'm putting the decision in your capable hands. Tell me which ones suit your fancy most, and that's the one that's a-happenin'. So vote and discuss with me, I dig all these ideas, and I want to run one of them for you all!
Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
A new team of Avengers assembles against a new series of world-shattering threats. Characters would use modified versions of preexisting CADs as starting points, then have 5 free chargen stones and up to 10 new challenge stones to improve them/provide them whatever recent backstory in the comics you'd like. (Currently I'm thinking of including Captain America, Iron-Man, Thor, Spider-Man, the Scarlet Witch, and either a "wild card" spot, or another sixth character TBD, possibly Carol Danvers.)
Uncanny X-Men
Running counter to most of my normal X-Men, this will not be a school game. Basically, this would be a game about a mix of canon X-Men and original characters who are part of a new squad of X-Men, go on adventures, hope they survive the experience. I have this vague idea for a "random melodrama generator" to encourage the sort of bizarre sci-fi soap opera storylines that permeated Chris Claremont's run of the title. I would accept any of the published CADs as-are (or rebuilt to 40 stones if they're less than 40 including challenges), unofficial ones would require approval but no set stone counts. OC's would be 40 stones+Challenges, must be mutants, if that's not obvious.
Young Justice
This would be a game about the next generation of DC Heroes. The Teen Titans are the senior heroes, the Justice League has become the faded elder statesmen the Justice Society once was (and the Society all but gone entirely). You would be sponsored and supervised by the current Justice League, whether teen sidekick or just teen hero, next generation in a legacy or first of their own, learning to work as a team against the next generation of evil. Bright and colorful, with a big old splash of teen angst and melodrama in the middle, but mixed with all the stuff I love in the DC Universe (i.e. not "Batman v. Superman"). 60 stones+challenges, to encourage some Kryptonian and Martian-level power players (or a Marvel family member, or what have you). Experience will be given out in stones so don't worry if you don't have Strength 10+ at start or what have you, that'll be entirely possible.
Radical Krew
Some awesome dudes and tubular babes have to pick up the slack and defend the Earth from evil, and become totally bodacious heroes in their own right when the "real" heroes return. That would be you guys... A period piece, if you will. The year is 1984. The Berlin wall remains up, Ronald Reagan is in the White House, and the heroes of the Marvel Universe have been whisked away to the Battleworld at the behest of the mysterious Beyonder. Spider-Man will soon return with a strange black costume, and many of the other heroes will be similarly challenged or touched by the War (however temporary). Also, intriguingly enough, Marvel comics still had access to the publishing rights for a variety of licensed properties, some of which happened to have nebulous continuity links to the 616 Marvel Universe of the time. Some titles to mine for inspiration would be Transformers (G1 please), G.I. Joe, Doctor Who, Conan the Barbarian (and by extension-via-Shuma Gorath the HP Lovecraft mythos), Star Wars (Empire and earlier), I'd even ridiculous left-field stuff like The Smurfs or The Micronauts if I liked the concept. I would highly encourage characters to seem like "spin-offs" from properties Marvel would later lose the rights to publish like these. Keep in mind the time period when coming up with backgrounds too (so the Doctor would be in the tail end of his 5th incarnation, for example,) and, please, make them tubular, radical, and totally bodacious. 40+challenges.
