SECRET WARS 6 - WHEN A SPIDER CALLS Spider-Woman is relatively new at super-powered adventure, having used her powers three or four times before the Secret Wars. She was caught when the part of Denver she was in was taken by the Beyonder to complete the Battleplanet. She is unknown to all the assembled heroes and is trying to join them and get off the planet. Currently, the New Spider-Woman is crossing an alien swamp, inhabited by swarms of buzzing insects and reptilian beings. KRIK!

Julia or as she would be called from now on, Spider Woman, was making her way around the alien lands unknowing of what it had in store for her. Things had not made sense to her, well much of it anyway as she was in fact new to this super business. She had met her friend Val in Denver before it was absorbed and convinced to take part in a athletic study. Looking down at her hands, they shimmered with psionic energy; she had been tricked into becoming something else, something inhuman. Though as Julia's mind wandered from reality, it quickly returned as something caught her ear.
KRIK!
She froze for a moment before her sense hijacked her body and sent her into an instinctive autopilot. Julia quickly looked for some cover as she attempted to hide from view and instead see what was around her.

The New Spider-Woman spots a bestial creature lurking in this spooky, muggy forest.

"What is that..?" She whispered to no one in particular as she continued to observe the creature from her hideout. Julia didn't know if this was a hostile or not, nor would it be wise to just go in, guns blazing without a plan. For now, she'd bide her time.

Clever check roll RlvwL|Do1d6+2It's the Lizard! Spider-Woman read about him in the Daily Bugle. Julia also gets a really good look at his left arm. It's all bloody and badly bruised! It doesn't look broken though. 1d6+2

"The Lizard? What is he doing here? He must of been abducted when Battleworld was patched together.. I can't just let him roam around..." Julia said to herself as she looked at him from her hiding spot. Julia could see that he was injured, meaning that maybe she would have an upper hand but she didn't want to be overconfident and assume anything, especially here. "Lizard!" she called out as she leaped from her hiding spot and landed outside of it, looking at him through her mask she stood there with an intimidating manner, "What are you doing here?" demanded Spiderwoman.

It appears that all the Lizard wants is a little swamp to call his own.

Julia looks at Lizard and raises a brow though it was concealed by her mask by this request. All he wanted was to have the swamp... This could go one of two ways as she saw it, she could either leave him alone for the time being and let him take the swamp but risk him becoming a threat later or she could defeat him now and eliminate him before he becomes any kind of threat to anyone. As much as she would love to avoid a fight, her moral compass would not allow her to point any other way but towards Lizard. "Sorry, but you're not going to claim this swamp today!"; throwing psionic webs at her target she tries to ensnare him within her psionic webs! ----

Ensnare, Variable, Opposed Roll - If a character with ensnare attacks an opponent combat is treated as normal but if the user of this Gift wins, then the opponent's move is reduced by 10 per point in this Gift. The reduction lasts until the character has time to free him or herself. This Gift also has uses out of combat, though the extent of these uses depends on the tag(s). Sample Tags: Webbing, glue, energy nets, mental paralysis, and liquefying the ground.
For Gifts: Roll die + Power + any Gift modifier.
So for this attack, Spider-Woman does not add 7 (2 Quick + 2 Throw + 3 Ensnare) but instead adds 4 (1 Power + 3 Ensnare). Her total is 7 (instead of 10). NOTE: If she threw something at Lizard, she would add 4 (2 Quick + 2 Throw).
The Lizard tries to resist with his Quick 3 + Acrobatics 1.

Spider-Woman needed to beat the Lizard's opposed roll, so he just avoided the psionic web!
The lethal Lizard now leaps toward a boulder, the size of a two story building. He tries to lift it, so he can throw it at Spider-Woman next turn!
Lizard rolls 1d6 + 4 Strong [He must get higher than a 6 to succeed.]

Julia couldn't help but smirk as she saw the reptilian try and lift a boulder to use against her as a weapon only to pull his back in the process. "That sounded like it hurt!" she said while charging at Lizard, jumping into the air and coming down with a punch! -----

FYI: Spider Woman's attack only adds Quick 2 to the roll result. Also, her Strong of 4 already takes her Super Strength into account.
Roll to Hit In this part of a round the character can try to hit an opponent or try another sort of action. He or she can try to hit using a ranged weapon (bow, gun, etc.), hand-to-hand weapon (sword, club, pool cue, etc.), unarmed attack (fist, kick, etc.), or Power (where the effect of a Gift isn’t automatic). In each case you roll the dice, adding the relevant Ability and Skill (if any).
For hand-to-hand fighting (with or without a weapon): Roll die + Ability + Skill (Blades, Bludgeon, Bruiser) = Total
For guns and artillery: Roll die + Clever + Skill (Artillery, Shooting)
For ranged weapons other than guns: Roll die + Quick + Skill (Archery, Throw)
For Gifts: Roll die + Power + any Gift modifier.
In most cases if the total beats the target’s Defence, damage is done.
Spider Woman's result of 3 does not beat The Lizard's Defense, so no damage is done.
The Lizard now tries to defend himself, by swinging his 6 1/2 foot tail at Spider Woman!
