I recently came into possession of a couple of the Warhammer40k books and I'm kind of itching to try them out. Anyone interesting in learning alongside me?

Which one(s)? I have a few that I've flipped through once or twice, but never more than drawn inspiration from the artwork!

Do you mean "Dark Heresy? " or something else entirely. If it's Dark Heresy, I'm interested, as I liked the 2-3 game sessions I got to play in it as my Techpriest Galatea.... Though note.... even though she's a bit waifish, she successfully told a general of the Inquisition to stop having a "d*** measuring contest" with one of the PC's and wasn't executed... She's a spunky little nugget

The two I managed to come across are "Rogue Trader" and "Only War", which are in the same universe but with slightly different rules. Rogue Trader is essentially, by my understanding, about bad-ass starship crews, while Only War is about bad-ass ground troops. Of the two, Only War seems a bit more polished.

Let me see if I can find a copy of Dark Heresy..... legally... and I'll get back to you. I think Rogue Trader and Only War are supplements of Dark Heresy....

My understanding is they are different games or at least are stand-alone enough that you could probably do fine with just them.

They all use rhe same core rules, but are VASTLY different spectrums in power level and different niches in the universe. I've been itching to try out Rogue Trader:

Essentially the Rogue Trader is the Captain of a spaceship and there are Explorators (who are the tech priests of the Ship).

I wish I could, mcr... But I'm playing in lotsa games, and starting to GM a game of my own soon. Combined with my many hours of work per week, I don't really have the time or mental energy to learn a new system at the time. ^_^

They all use rhe same core rules, but are VASTLY different spectrums in power level and different niches in the universe. I've been itching to try out Rogue Trader: I think I read in either the RT core or somewhere that RT characters are more or less the equivalent of DH characters but with 5 additional ranks to start. So if you were to take a DH character and increase its rank 5 times, that's where you'd be. The starting RT character has I think 4000 or 5000 (I can't remember which) XP built into it, plus 500 XP to spend however you wish.
