INTEREST GENERATING THREAD... Interested? Express it! Questions? Ask them! It’s been a long time since I’ve actually run a game here, especially so as anime has arisen to be more predominate on these boards than Marvel. Not my rif, so if you’re looking for that, look elsewhere.
Historical Archive Shard: Attilan passing Neptune enroute to Earth...[DATE UNKNOWN]
REGARDING THE HISTORY OF THE INHUMANS...
“It is held by most that our people have always been, and always shall be. It is said that our history is just that, and should be left there. As you are aware, prevailing political posturing is to be mindful of our present, and look only to our future.
“Conventional wisdom tells us however, that those who would forget their past are doomed to repeat it. Given the bloody affair historical records so vaguely imply that it was, I’m inclined to encourage your questioning at the very least. Indulge in a healthy sense of paranoia I say. That said, the veracity of our sole source of documented historical content (a hand written journal that survived Incident 213, designated ‘The Reliquary’) is highly suspect.
“How, you might wonder, could a civilization so advanced as ours have such a blind spot on our own origins? Theories are many of course, with Occam’s Razor leaning heavily towards Political Conspiracy and/or Sabotage...
“Our beginnings are of this world, and not; Of that all of our people readily agree upon. Our progenitors, The Kree, reputedly came to this world in search of a cure. They were a dying people, the evolutionary spark had fallen dormant in their genome. A veritable twilight had fallen on their vast civilization... it’s only hope lay in discovering a means of locating and/or developing a mutagenic kickstarter. It was here, on Earth, that a primitive species was found of such genetic potential as had never before been recorded across thousands of star systems. From the human stock, the greatest of Kree eugenicists created a perfect hybrid: Us. Half Kree, Half Human. Inhomo Supremis. Or, as we have come to call ourselves... The Inhumans.
“It would be undocumented decades before Randac (our First King) would discover Terrigen Crystals. Still longer before the first Terrigenesis.
“The truths of the Eugenics War, The origins of the Stratification Edict, precisely what Incident 213 was, the reason for The Clean Hands Edict, and knowledge of precisely how or why we lost contact with The Progenitors are all lost to us. Events referenced, but not detailed in The Reliquary.
“Lost though our history is, our present and our future are assuredly blessed by the perfect equilibrium we have obtained in Attilan.”
INHUMAN LIFE IN THE THURIAN AGE
Life in Attilan is a strictly regimented caste based and self-described utopian society (denial can be a beautiful thing though)... A place where even those numbering among the lowest of castes still enjoy a life far grander than that of the primitive barbarians living below on the planet proper. Stratification lends to an increasing percentage of the population peaking within the Pillars Caste. The recently created Redeemed Caste and it’s drastically small percentage of the population (with only The Genetics Council numbering fewer at the hierarchy’s top) has mitigated negative propaganda by elevating The Pillars without diminishing the others Castes. At present Attilan floats invisibly above the continent of Atlantis, discreetly watching the human tribes below without interference or contact in accordance with the Clean Hands Edict. Inhumans value intelligence, their society revolves around Genetic Sciences and Technological Advancement.— which lends to well to the themes of Intrigue, Transhumanism, Swords & Science, Exploration... and perhaps, the occasional call for heroes.
THE SEVEN CASTES
The Genetics Council (Those who guide and shape)
They arrange marriages, issue procreation permits, screen for Terrigenesis, assign Caste placement, designate King and Queen, Genetics R&D, Medical Doctors, and most importantly they operate maintain and operate the Terrigenesis Chamber.
The Royal Families (Those who govern and exemplify)
Three Royal Families, but only one reigning family (that of the King and Queen). The other two families are responsible for legislation and daily operations of Attilan
The Preservers (Those who protect and serve)
Police Force, Militia, Judiciary System, Arbiters, Firefighting, Paramedics, etc
The Sentinels (Those who watch)
Scouts, Envoys, Ambassadors, Spies, Internal Investigations
The Artisians (Those who create)
Artists, Inventors, Engineers, Physicists, Teachers, etc
The Pillars (Those who support)
The Laborers. Manufacturing, Construction, Mechanics, Maintenance, Technical Installations/Support, Administration, Agriculture, Transport, Distribution, etc
The Redeemed (Those who repent)
Reformed Convicts, Those on Probation, Indentured Servants, Miners, Sanitation, Custodial Work, Oilers, etc
*There are dark rumors of another Castes... but... surely not! Likely just political dissidents stewing up convenient paranoia driven propaganda...
NOTES ON TERRIGENESIS:
Parents CAN elect to petition the Genetic Council for in utero Terrigenesis for their children, but the request is rarely granted. Traditionally, at the age of majority, an Inhuman Citizen may petition for Terrigenesis. The Genetic Screening process is slow, thorough, and definitive.
Rejections are as common as approvals, and by Law have no impact on social standing or quality of life. There is no appeals process.
Approvals are brought before The Council, and briefed fully on the inherent risks of Terrigenesis even with their screening. They are reminded of the potential costs (physical, mental, and emotional), ramifications (social status due to potential Caste reassignment, separation from family and loved ones, etc), and expectations (fidelity, responsibility, potential new caste roles, etc) that come with a successful bestowment... never mind the aforementioned risk of unforeseen complications. After Terrigenesis, freshly evolved Inhumans spend anywhere from one week to one year under observation and testing before Caste Re-Assignment and release into their new lives.
False Positives are the rarest of rare, but they do happen. In this instance, The Council’s screening will indicate optimal genetic potential... but the genome will fail to activate. There is no second exposure, no appeal.. If the Catalyst fails to evolve the subject, they are returned to their old life.
EARTH OF THE THURIAN AGE...
Specific year is yet to be identified. But this is loosely the world beyond Attilan...

THE HEROES
Chosen players will be cast in the role of Inhuman Citizens of Attilan, powered or not as they so choose (this choice will effect starting stone packages).
Characters will have been born into one of the Seven acknowledged castes, players choice. Your brief background should encompass that point of origin in some fashion, as well as your character’s Choice regarding Terrigenesis and how that unfolded.
Attilan and the Thurian Age are settings conducive to as much Political Intrigue as Potential Violence... a true Sword & Science backdrop. Magic, while existent in the outside world and era, is not something that Inhumans acknowledge or traffic with (no Magic Actions or Modifiers may be selected at game commencement). Drawbacks, Disadvantages, and Challenges WILL be adhered to.
CHARACTERS HAVING SUCCESSFULLY GONE THROUGH TERRIGENESIS
25+15 Stones. DUR is split into Health/Energy/Recharge. MN’s cannot exceed more than 1/2 creation stones. Power manifestation will have designated your “new” Caste.
CHARACTERS UNFIT FOR TERRIGENESIS (OR FALSE POSITIVES)
20+10 Stones. DUR is split into Health/Energy/Recharge. MN’s cannot exceed more than 1/2 creation stones. Human maximums apply as per D&R. You remain in your birth caste, unless you are among The Redeemed.
CHARACTERS AWAITING TERRIGENESIS
15+5 Stones. DUR is split into Health/Energy/Recharge. MN’s cannot exceed more than 1/2 creation stones. GM will determine when your time/name is selected (within the first issue), the powers that evolve as a result, Caste change(s), and other RP/Challenges resultant will be GM Discretion.
ABOMINATIONS
Those of “The Hidden (Those best forgotten)”, the secret 8th Caste... typically existing in stasis chambers in a classified vault. The Genetic Council’s Dark Secret?
45 Stones. DUR is split into Health/Energy/Recharge. MN’s cannot exceed more than 1/2 creation stones. GM selects your Challenges straight up, to value of his deeming.

I'd like to keep all the important inhuman stuff intact, which means that not all inhumans are fit for terragenesis.

Here's another crazy idea. Inhumans, except it's in the distant past. Advanced technology, super powers, barbaric humans. Kinda sword and planet/science fantasy/planetary romance. Without the superheroes of the twentiest and twentyfirst centuries the inhumans could act as "Earth Mightiest Heroes".
I'd like to keep all the important inhuman stuff intact, which means that not all inhumans are fit for terragenesis.
