Looks like it's getting a reboot, with David Harbour (Stranger Things) in the title role. Although I'm also a little disheartened that they're rebooting it, as the original cast was fun. Perlman was great.
On an aside, it's criminal that Harbour and company were not recognized for Stranger Things during award season. All of the principal cast were stellar, Harbour in particular (Schapp, Ryder, and Brown were also good).

I was pretty bitter about the re-casting, but I am molefied by my happiness at seeing Hellboy getting another go at the big screen. Cautiously optimistic that they’ll learned from previous stumbles and make something even better!

I was surprised at the recasting/reboot, too, but I really like David Harbour and I suspect he'll do a great job. Ian McShane is also fantastic.
The R-rating, and the unlikelihood of getting del Toro back help explain the decision to reboot. The R-rating part, and what seems like a decision to make the film darker and hopefully deeper seem like good calls to me. I suppose we have Deadpool to thank for this.
I didn't know they were so far into post, but apparently they finished filming late last year! It's due out April 19. I can dig it. Put me down as cautiously optimistic.

It looks somewhat generic and lacking a fitting tone it seems.

t;dr - Yikes, that's a shit trailer. But maybe it's just the trailer, not the movie. Seriously, WTF is this trailer? This is an R-rated Hellboy reboot and they set it to Mony Mony and added cutsey sound effects (like the wink at 1:37)? It's not encouraging how reminiscent this is of the big Suicide Squad trailer that was set to Bohemian Rhapsody. That was a fantastic trailer for what turned out to be a complete disaster of a movie. Basically the song did all the heavy lifting, coupled with quick cuts and snippets of punchy dialogue that don't actually say much about the actual film. This trailer was commissioned after a negative reception to the early look at Comic Con that ended with the very controversial Jared Leto joker. The Queen trailer was so successful that the studio actually hired the trailer people to recut the film. So, yeah, it's a little scary to see them already giving the Hellboy trailer the deliberate "Suicide Squad" treatment. Could be a sign that they don't actually have confidence in their film. I admit, I was a little worried to hear that they selected basically the entire main cast only a few weeks before filming began; Daniel Dae Kim was recast as Ben Daimo on basically the first day. That said, there are some huge differences between this and Suicide Squad. The biggest is probably that they actually have an R-rating, which means full freedom to do whatever they want, how they want. The other is that, as far as I've heard, there have been no reshoots or recuts. I recommend rewatching it and trying to imagine the film without the pop music blaring over everything. Maybe there's something there.

Didn't think the trailer looked too bad, but it seems like Harbour is trying too hard to be Perlman, which is a shame, because if they wanted Perlman they shouldn't have recast the franchise.

To be clear, my issue with the trailer is that it does not live up to what we have been told about how this film is taking advantage of its R-rating to tell a darker, more violent, and gory story. I get that they still want to lure in the 13-year-olds who are somehow going to sneak into the movie, but it still strikes me as a bad sign that they're candy-coating their trailer to that extent. With regards to Harbour, I don't know how much of it is his performance, and how much is the makeup and general look being so similar to the Del Toro flicks. They've said that they were deliberately trying to duplicate a lot of Del Toro's work, which I agree feels like a mistake; as you say, if they wanted the original, they could and should have gotten it. I doubt Pearlman turns them down if they ask, but then again, who knows.

Yeah, that's the general feel I got, not a surprise, but still a bummer.
