The taxi drops the Thing off at a deserted amusement park. The Statue of Liberty can be seen on the horizon.
"Have fun!" the cabbie says before pulling away.

The Thing trips on some old rotting concessions that were left on the ground in front of the park's abandoned fun house.

Just inside the entrance is a wide corridor. Once the Thing gets within 10 feet, he gets sucked into the fun house as if it's a giant vacuum cleaner!

The Thing is able to prevent himself from being sucked into the corridor by pulling himself to the side of the entrance.

"Gonna have to do better than that." Ben says grabbing the wall, and attempting to tear down part or all of the building into the corridor to block off the vacuum.

The Thing not only wrecks the fun house, but he also uncovers a maintenance entrance leading beneath the deserted amusement park.

Ben walks up to the entrance and opens the door even ripping it off if he has to.

The Thing breaks his way in, finding a wall-mounted circuit breaker box and a ladder leading straight down into darkness.

The Thing flips the switch and climbs down the dimly lit ladder. At the end of his steep climb is an entrance to an underground tube. He reasons that this is the tunnel that the Fun House was trying to suck him into, however it is now quiet and lit with maintenance lighting. If he's right, the box upstairs deactivated the vacuum and he can now follow the path safely on his own.

The walls are almost friction-less but at this point in the tunnel the downhill decline is gradual enough to walk along, behind him though, there is a steep incline, so following the tunnel back up to the Fun House isn't an option.
Soon, the Thing finds the tunnel splits in four directions. Each path is labelled with a cryptic sign. From left to right the signs read: "INTRUDER", "CASTLE HIDEOUS", "MR. FIREMAN" and "MACH WARS".
