You examine the hanger... It seems to be filled with ground vehicles. No air or space transport in sight.

James
Having made note of that, James proceeded to explore further inside the base, looking for other hangars, and using his disguise to move around. 4 in Intelligence to look for other hangars.
5 in Social Skills to act the part and look like just any other serf.

You go up a flight of stairs to a new Hanger this one has two Blackstars in it.... and a Techmarine working on them.

James
James began by teleporting inside whichever Blackstar the marine was not working on in order to avoid attracting his attention before he was ready to make his escape. He then studied his surroundings to see how simple it'd be to take off. 6 in Instant Transmission to teleport inside the Blackstar not being worked on;
7 in Technology to figure out how simple/complicated escaping the hangar with the aircraft will be, obstacles that might need to be overcome, defenses that might come into play, etc.

You work the controls. First you have to get the hanger door open, then you have to figure out how not to get shot down by the fortress' anti-air.
Oh and the ship will be difficult to control since it's designed to be operated by a minimum crew of two Marines with the added benefit of the neural interface their armor provides.

James
"Dammit. Note to self, ask for a partner for the next mission requiring two people to complete the main objective", he grumbled. He got in the piloting seat anyway. He'd have to try to compensate his limited ability to control the ship with his Psychokinesis spell, at least until he'd escape from the base's anti-air defenses. He wasn't a fan of relying on his magic too much, since he was not as skilled in it as his mother and most of his siblings were... but he didn't have much of a choice.
Turning on the ship's systems, he began by using a spell to force the doors open! 5 in Vehicle operations to get the ship started; will use his skills and make up for lacking another person and the neural interface by using magic, at least until he escapes the base's reach.
15 (Ef) in Forces Arcanum (Psychokinesis, Rote, Vulgar) to force the hangar doors open so I can take off. Total paradox risk: 10%

You start the engines as you force the doors open with powerful TK, alarms begin blaring at the forced opening of the hanger.

James
"Alright, let's floor it!" James let out as he proceeded to launch the ship out of the base ASAP, maintaining his spell to get the hell out of dodge. As he did so, he also raised a powerful haki barriers around the starfighter to block incoming fire, given that his limited mastery of the controls meant he'd rather focus on piloting this thing rather than figuring out if it had a shield generator. "Go, go, go!" 1 in PL for an action;
5 in Vehicle operations to book it;
15 (Ef) in Forces Arcanum (Psychokinesis, Rote, Vulgar) to keep stabilizing/pushing my ship's speed to get out of there despite my limited control of it and lack of a second person. Using 2 Mana to make up for second use of Vulgar spell in the scene and to lower the risk of Paradox. Current Paradox risk: 5%
14 (Ef) in Haki (Busoshoku Haki, Haki Barrier) to form a 10 stones force field to protect the ship as I buzz off. 4 in increasing the area to protect the ship instead of just 10' around me.

You fly out of the hanger and are immediately bombarded with lasers and flak. Your hull manages to hold as you fly further away.

James
"Okay... okay. Doing good... get us out of here, will ya?" he said, patting the commands as he went full speed away, maintaining his haki barrier as he maintained his spell to keep fleeing. Mana: 33/35
Renewing my stones, but paying 3 Mana this time to keep my Paradox risk at 5%.

You manage to clear the atmosphere as you watch as space fighters begin chasing you.

James
"F*ck me", James grumbled, gritting his teeth. He needed to shoot down those bozos ASAP and couldn't really do that while flying this thing, which means he'd have to get out of the ship, blast them, and come back in. And yeah, he could do that... but first he needed to be able to survive in space.
As he thought this, still maintaining his evasive maneuvers and flooring it, his skin began to burn. Mana: 30/35
1 in PL for an action;
5 in Vehicle operations to keep escaping;
14 (Ef) in Haki (Busoshoku Haki, Haki Barrier) to maintain my makeshift forcefield;
...and turning into Ghost Rider!

James (Ghost Rider)
James then teleported outside the ship, powered up wildly, and blasted two of the enemy ships with divine ki blasts! 8 in Instant Transmission, 2 to teleport outside of the ship; 6 in defense;
10 in Kaioken to power up;
17 (Ef) in Ki Control (Ki Blasts, God Ki, No panel of prep time) +8 from God Ki, plus 20 from Kaioken, into two 23/22 stones ki blasts VS two space fighters. (How many were there?)
Total ph.defense: 19

(Just two.)
You blast and stop both fighters in their tracks.
