Erik thinks. He remembers loading the tire along with his tools in the front and the rubbers under the seat. He remembers clearly, it can't be possible that somebody took it out to put his or her stuff there, the very idea was unbelievable and sounded stupid, nobody would. But it also wasn't likely that the tire got stolen without anything else being stolen, the tire was under all the bags.
Erik scratches his head in confusion even ignoring Angelica's words, he looks at all the guys while doing a mental scan to see if in any moment he had to take out the tire. He sits in the front seat and keeps wondering.
"It's cool. Just tell me when you are finished" - said in a really calm voice as he stared at the road. Scratching now his eyebrow he looked under the feet of the guys in the back. Unlikely to be there but he had to be sure. Then, for a moment, his mind wandered around as he saw Angelica 'sleeping', she can be a brainless cheerleader looking for a slap whenever she talks but she looks cute; the image of the tire breaks the thought.
"Funny" - he was going to say something about the tire but he didn't want to make the boys and girl worried, so he just pretended he was looking for something else - "Give me some chips, I'm a little hungry"

Wow, Rick is a little shocked that Angelica is cuddling up to him. shocked in a good way. A very good way.
As quietly and as still as possible, so he doesn't disturb the girl, he passes a bag of chips to Erik and whispers for him to please drive us to Buffalo now.

"Heh, looks like Mr. RA is getting a little cozy with our female compatriot." Steve nudges his fellow backseat drivers to point it out. "Now Rick, you should know that there are certain things an RA shouldn't be doing when they're on duty! Don't be getting fresh now, you hear? I'll report you to the GA and there will be absolute hell to pay."
Steve casually slips the headphones off of Angelica's head. "Now that our princess is 'asleep,' I don't think she'll be needing these at all..." When he retrieves the mp3 player, Steve shuts it off. This is a trip to be social, after all. Certain weaknesses need to be eliminated to become a truly strong person, and if that weakness is a dependency on his security blanket, then so be it. It's not like this is going to be too stressful of a ride, anyway. It should be an easy victory for Team Steve.

Erik pulls the car out onto the street. The sign ahead let's Erik know he has to turn right( the way the racers and the old man went) to get onto the freeway. About two blocks down Erik began seeing the signs SHIT! the offramp is closed. As he drives closer to the exit he sees the detour signs. The detour will take the group into the woods, toward those towers. What do you want to do?

"Detour. That's majorly screwed up, man," Andrew grumbles. He cracks a window. "Mind if I smoke?" He flips out his lighter and starts lighting up before anyone asks. "Should we go take the detour, or is there a better place to turn around?"

Rick really wishes that Andrew wouldn't smoke and Steve wouldn't poke fun. However, it's not his car and Rick's not in the mood to argue with anyone. Not while a pretty girl is resting on his shoulder.
He tries to block out the negativity by recalling that poem from the bathroom. He wonders if this insane asylum the clerk referenced early is Ravencroft Institute. If so, he'll be on the look out for jackals and Satan of course.

Action 1: 2 stones to Private Investigation looking for a sign for the asylum and/or jackals. The crack about Satan was a joke. Besides he was already let in the asylum, according to the poem.

Still pretending to be asleep, Angelica was slightly miffed by Steve taking back his mp3 player. The low-key music had turned out to be quite relaxing, much to her surprise - plus it had helped drown out all the conversations she really didn't want to listen to.
But 'waking up' to ask for it back would only lead to another bickering session. She simply could not be bothered. Instead, Angelica adjusted her position ever so slightly, getting herself more comfortable by snuggling even closer up against Rick. The RA might have been a bit of a loser, but he did make a pretty decent stand-in for a travel-pillow.

Ah yes, so that blog...
Steve grabs the laptop he's writing the blog entry in for Rick and begins to type, exercising his bullshitting muscles in a way they haven't been in quite a while. Noticing Andrew light up, he turns to his fellow car companion.
"Hey, you mind? I'd like to live to see the age of 20. Thanks."

Josh's stomach growls and he remembers how he really would have liked to use the restroom back there but it was too late now. Trying to mask his interest in getting to the next restroom he says, "Man I could go for those buffalo wings. Let's do the detour thing and make it speedy."
He notices Rick's "luck with the lady" and is pretty sure that Rick can have her. Angelica is definitely not a girl he'd want to bring home to mamma. Although he might feed her to his dog Brusier.

Erik's reaction is to gradually stop, the sign can be a prank or can be an actual warning. He doesn't want to risk a flat tire in the woods but what is he supposed to do if can't get around them?
"I don't trust the sign... it could be a joke some kids around here planned... do you thing taking the detour will delay us? Maybe it would be better to take the detour, at least there should be light"

"Pssst...Steve," Rick whispers, trying not to wake the lady. "Can you please see if Mapquest.com can tell us where this road leads on the laptop?"
The RA checks that his seatbelt is on good. Well, actually he's adjusting himself but he makes like he's just checking his seatbelt. Then he opens a Fruitopia, hoping the condensation of the bottle can cover the fact that his palms are seating.
Why does Angelica have to smell so damn good?

"Pssst... Rick. We're in the middle of buttfuck nowhere. What makes you think I'll pick up a connection out here?" Still, he tries it out. Worst thing that can happen is that he'll end up finding out that he can't get a signal and get back to work on his paper.

The computer does get a signal and the Mapquest shows where the road to the left does meet with the Freeway. About 20 minutes out of the way.

"Well will you look at that... If we keep through the detour, we'll get right back on with the freeway. Mapquest says it's about a 20 minute drive, but at least it'll get us there. Not the most reliable source, but it's a source none the less."
