Wolverine took the lead, keeping aware of his surroundings with his keen senses in case danger should arise. Frank was right beside him though, navigating the jungles just like he had in the war, directing them to greater elevation. They were both in better shape than they had been, more confident and more prepared for what lay ahead.
Traveling wasn’t easy, the natural complications of the jungle furthered by the fact that they were trying to remain undetected, but they were making steady time regardless. Hours passed with nothing but harmless wildlife registering with the Wolverine, and eventually the two made their way to the top of a small mountain, where the thick plant life began to thin out and provide access to a signal.
“Fury.”
“Castle! Goddamnit, we’ve been trying to contact you for hours! What the hell’s going on down there? No, nevermind that! Koechner’s on the move, and you two need to get going NOW. Our informant just relayed a message, says that the bastard is in a jeep travelling to a helipad about 4 clicks west of your current position. You can beat him there if you hurry your asses up. And watch your damn backs, our mole thinks he may have gotten that aggression raising technology into some of the most wanted villains in the world…and maybe even the damned Hulk.”
“Fury out.”
Before the two can react to the colonel’s speech, there’s a shout from behind them. “Freeze! Hold it right there!”
Turning, they realize that a group of men bearing automatic rifles and wearing SWAT gear has somehow managed to sneak up behind them! Or so it would seem…Logan quickly realizes, though, that what looks impossible more than likely is. These men have no scent, and their gear doesn’t make noise when they move…In fact, they don’t cast shadows either…

Aggression raising technology. This whole damn operation was just getting better and better. When Frank heard voices, he turned sharply on his heel, his gun pointed at the SWAT team. A SWAT team? Out here? Frank was known for not killing cops, but something about these people didn't seem right. His eyes narrowed, his finger unsure over the trigger.
"The Hell are cops doing out here?"
Frank took a step away from them, his eyes now searching around the police in an attempt to discern some kind of reasoning behind their sudden appearance. Were they bought out? Maybe the suits were loaned out in a specific attempt to stem the Punisher's gunfire. Either way, they looked real enough, and Frank wasn't going to take chances on harming a cop. His eyes shot between the men, and then to Logan, before back. Logan seemed less impressed by their presence. Frank kept steady on his gun, in a defensive stance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Health: 3/3 Energy: 9/9

Wolverine
*SNIKT*
All claws out, Logan looks at what seems to be only an illusion. No body scent. No sound other than voice... Those SWAT men were only a cover for someone else, he'd swear it. But who?
-Keep your guard up and shoot if necessary, Castle, those aren't real cops. And even if they were, Fury sent us. I don't think simple cops have an higher authority than SHIELD.
Wolverine glared at the so-called SWAT team and said:
-Stop your stupid tricks and show your damn face, or else I'm gonna find you by sound and separate you from your guts. Who the hell are you... Mysterio? Another criminal with fancy holoprojectors or somethin'? We got a madman to stop, and I'm not stoppin' just because you ask unless you got a damn good reason, bub. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 5/5 E: 15/15
5 stones into Hunting/Tracking (Spot Ambush), helped by my Animal Senses of 7, to locate the one who spoke by sound, its heartbeat, his scent if any or any other hint I can find out.
2 stones into Close Combat (Weapon X Training), plus 3 from my Claws, all shifted into defense just in case the SWAT guys are more real than I suspect and are agressive / the guy hidden by the false SWAT team is attacking me, lol.

The Punisher wisely kept his guard up while Wolverine tried to establish exactly what was happening, and was rewarded for his efforts when a gunshot filled the air. Frank instinctively jerked away, and instead of burying itself in his neck, the fired dart impacted deep into the Kevlar armor he habitually wears.
A growl followed the shot, originating from the brush around them. It was oddly human for an animal, but likewise seemed too guttural to have come from a man…
The growl grew to a crescendo and turned into an accusation, “Your tricks are worthless!” it screamed, before the owner of the voice darted out of the surrounding flora and dropped his rifle, revealing himself to be none other than Kraven the Hunter…and he was running straight for the Punisher!
“I shouldn’t have agreed to bring you along!” he snarled, leaping through the air like the lions he was so adept at training.
As Kraven yelled out, the police officers began to shift until they were all dressed in green and purple…exact copies of Mysterio, self-proclaimed Master of Illusions. All of them spoke in unison. “I have never tested my illusions against the Wolverine, Sergei. How was I to know? It is irrelevant. My nerve gas will stop him.”
As they spoke, thick purple smoke began to pour from their helmets, filling the air around Logan and trying to creep into his lungs!
“You’ve reached your final rendezvous point, Wolverine.”
_________________________________________ OOC: Wolverine knows which Mysterio is real using his animal senses/hunting and tracking, but Punisher would need to use Intelligence to break the illusions if he wants to take a shot. He may have bigger problems though...

Frank heard the dart go hissing past and was already turned, his gun pointed directly at Kraven the Hunter. They really were pulling out all the stops. Frank was under the impression that Kraven was already dead, and if not dead, then had been rotting his useless years away in prison. Bad news was that he wasn't. Good news was that Frank was going to kill him, so the point was moot. Kraven was already in the air as a leather gloved hand tightened around around the grip of his rifle, a trigger squeezed as the madman dove into the air. Frank would kill him alright, but not right away. He was going to blow holes in the Hunter's legs. This was the perfect time to get some information.
Frank fell back to the ground while firing, hoping to riddle the Hunter with bullets before he could even get a swing off. This man was known for being able to handle Spider-Man, and while bug boy was a nuisance, he was nothing to scoff at in a fight. Frank had learned that the hard way. Thoughts remained focused on the task at hand, the recoil thumping against his shoulder a sharp reminder that another monster was being put away. Frank would have to count on Wolverine to cover him from Mysterio while he put Kraven in a non-mobile state. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Health: 3/3 Energy: 9/9
Spending 4 stones on ranged combat to pump Kraven's legs full of holes so we can get some answers as to who is going to be waiting for us with Koechner. Full attack is...
4 + 2 Targeting + 4 rifle = 10 stones
In case he somehow doesn't go down, I'll spend two stones on close combat, shifted to defense, to move away from him and draw a combat knife.
Defense: 2 + 2 Reflexive Dodge + 1 Kevlar = 5

Wolverine
Mysterio had made a first mistake. He had the opportunity to study his foe before attacking, and instead he decided to try his luck with his illusions. He failed. Then he made his second mistake... underestimating how long Logan could hold his breath. That would be his last one.
Wolverine retracted the claws of his left hand, and slashed Mysterio's helmet to pieces with his right hand's. Once the helmet was shattered, he punched the villain in the stomach, to both hurt him and force him to inhale his own gas! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 5/5 E: 15/15
11 stones into Close Combat, +3 from my Adamantium claws; 7 stones (AP) using the claws to crack open Mysterio's helmet, 7 stones (without AP, using my fist) to punch him in the stomach to force him to breath his own gas.
4 stones into Durability to hold my breath for 4 panels? (not sure how this is supposed to work... lol)
End E: 0/15 Defense: 1 (Ref.Dodge) Mental defense: 5 (4 Int, 1 Mental defense) Holding my breath: 3 panels left after this one.

The Punisher’s rifle fire drowned out Kraven’s growl as Wolverine’s claws lashed out and shattered the glass dome surrounding Mysterio’s head. The bullets bit into the calves of the Hunter, though the experienced combatant had enough awareness to twist in mid-air so that he avoided the majority of the damage. Kraven didn’t stop roaring. Bleeding heavily from his legs, he wasn’t able to keep his balance upon landing directly in front of Frank, who had wisely fallen away and drawn a knife. He fell to one knee as Frank recovered from his own fall. Rolling to his feet, Frank managed to get the blade into the way of Kraven’s own, deflecting it harmlessly into the Kevlar. Their eyes locked as they began to circle one another, each of them darting in and out with their knives at every perceived hole in the other’s defenses. All of the resulting wounds were superficial, but both of them were acquiring those wounds incredibly quickly… Wolverine’s fist stole the air from Mysterio’s lungs, making the b-list villain double over in agony and gasp deeply, pulling in a chestful of poison gas in the process. The illusions all disappeared as the original among them collapsed helplessly into Logan and then onto the ground, unconscious, but still breathing. As the Wolverine turned his attention back to the Hunter and the Punisher, a stench on the wind alerted him to the presence of at least two wild cats just outside their field of vision… Kraven kept low to the ground, compensating for his wounds, and shifted his weight into a more defensive stance as soon as his compatriot went down. “It won’t be enough,” he swore angrily. _______________________________ OOC: www.youtube.com/watch?v=39HkecWiQUI

The Punisher winced as he gripped tightly into his knife's handle. Blood trickled down his arms and chest, and Frank realized that even though he could kill Kraven with the knife, it'd probably be just as beneficial to draw the pistol at this point.
"It won't be enough."
Frank took his off hand and drew the Browning fully automatic pistol, emptying the clip into Kraven's chest and face.
"Thanks for the tip."
He'd take his chances with what was waiting for them back at the helipad, let Kraven burn in Hell where he belonged. Assuming Kraven did in fact die, he'd replace the knife in his coat and stare over his wounds. Nothing too bad. The pistol was tossed aside as he reached back down for his rifle.
"Mysterio's still breathing."
Frank would kneel down next to the master of illusions, careful to wait for the gases to dissipate before kneeling down and slapping him over and over until he could get him awake enough to talk.
"Get up. What's waiting for us with Koechner? Who else does he have under his control? Probably smart to tell us now."
Frank drew a frag grenade off his belt, holding it inches from Mysterio's face. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Health: 3/3 Energy: 6/9

Wolverine
Logan let the Punisher handle the interrogation and finishing Kraven off, as he stopped holding his breath as soon as he was away from where the gas had been released. As he did that, however, he suddenly smelled the distinctive stench of wild cats... two of them, and they weren't so far away. Of course, they were smelling them as well, probably and especially the blood from Castle's and Kraven's wounds.
-We've got visitors again... wild life. Watch these two morons, I'll get the big cats.
All claws out, Wolverine followed the smell at the speed of a predator who tries to locate his prey. Which was pretty much the case. If the animals had a good instinct enough, and they knew what was good for them... they'd look for an easier meal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 5/5 E: 7/15
2 stones into Close Combat (Martial Arts), plus 3 from my claws, all shifted into defense as I search for the Wildcats with my own animal senses of 7.

Kraven opened his mouth to shout the attack command to the lions he had positioned around the group, but the only sound that resulted was that of a pistol firing round after round into wet flesh. The Hunter fell lifelessly to the ground as Castle calmly turned back to Mysterio and Logan, sheathing his knife and tossing the empty gun to the side. The gas was already disappearing-apparently Logan had damaged the device that was emitting it when he cut through the illusionist’s helmet. He had only to wait a few minutes before he felt it was safe to proceed. Meanwhile, Wolverine rushed into the jungle with the abrupt speed and confidence of a predator, and found….nothing. His sense of smell confirmed what his sight told him; whether it had been their master dying, the abject terror of seeing the Wolverine come hunting, or a combination of both, the creatures who had been lurking just past the edge of their sight were long gone, and Logan seriously doubted that they’d be returning. As the Wolverine came back from his hunt, Castle had just managed to rouse Mysterio and was beginning the interrogation, holding a grenade inches from the villain’s nose. "Get up. What's waiting for us with Koechner? Who else does he have under his control? Probably smart to tell us now." Mysterio spat on the weapon. Helpless as he was, he still wouldn’t be giving up that easily. “You will need to do much more than brandish explosives to get anything out of me, SHIELD bitches,” the master of illusions said vilely, clearly unaware as to the exact natures of the men with whom he was dealing…. ___________ OOC: Pun, you’re the best damn Frank Castle in the world. That was just too badass to not work…

Wolverine
As Logan heard that, he stopped in front of Mysterio with a wicked smile.
-Y'see, bub, I was kinda hoping you'd say that. Gives me a good reason to do that.
Without giving Mysterio a second to realize what he meant by that, he thrusted his right hand's claws into the right foot of Mysterio!!
-I could cut you down, slowly, extremely painfully. I could take my time. I could make the pain last for hours before you'd die in agony, the like of which you couldn't imagine even if I let you think about it. I bet you don't even have any idea of just how many bones in your body I could break without killing you...
He looked at Mysterio's bloody foot:
-Ooh... nasty. It must hurt, huh?...... I suggest you speak before I decide to twist my claws in that little wound of yours. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 5/5 E: 12/15
2 stones into Close Combat (Weapon X) plus 3 from my Adamantium claws into a 5 stones AP attack, directed at Mysterio's right foot, lol (so it shouldn't hurt him THAT much, just enough to get the point across, lol)
5 stones into Black Ops (Intimidation) to kindly suggest that he speaks before I decide to REALLY hurt him. ^_^

Frank stared blandly into Mysterio's face, hearing the sounds of the blades in his feet. With the runt doing all the talking, that left Frank to put away his grenade and reload another clip. He didn't move far from where Mysterio lay, maybe a foot, before he went to systematically reloading the weapon. The near-empty clip was set aside, a new clip produced from within the confines of his trenchcoat. He slammed it home, the action drawn back sharply before Frank turned back to Mysterio and pushed the barrel home to his eye.
"You'll bleed out from that wound on your foot if jungle cats don't come and finish you off. It looks bad, but you can survive it. Tell me who's waiting with Koechner, and I'll make sure you make it off the island."
Maybe Mysterio would listen to that little piece of the back of his mind that said ,'You can make it through this.' Frank always liked for criminals to count on that nonsense just before he blew them away.
"Now, talk. Who's waiting for us?" ----------------------------------------------------------------
Heh, thanks man!

Mysterio screamed and cursed as adamantium neatly cut through flesh and bone, opening his foot. He looked as though he might spit at them again, but then Frank pushed the barrel of his rifle against the man’s eye, causing him to reconsider. He swallowed hard and licked his lips before looking back up at the two of them.
“Look, we weren’t told anything but that we should kill you! He put these microchips in us that somehow enhance rage, said it would make us more powerful! Really all it does is make it seem like we don’t have any other recourse but to destroy! He’s been using it to compel us to fight in the arena. I don’t know which of the fighters he has with him, but I would imagine Blonsky would be there at the very least, and probably Kasady. Creed too if they ever got him back from the Hulk…That’s all I know, I swear, and even that’s just a guess! For God’s sake, I’m just a petty thief…” he looked desperately at his mauled foot, clearly terrified. “Okay? I co-operated. So c’mon, call your chopper in or whatever. Let’s go.”

Wolverine
-Hmph.
Logan pulled his claws out and retracted them again, standing up and turning around.
-I'm not gonna stop you, Castle... but as far as I'm concerned, there's only two other guys I want to see dead today. Koechner... and Sabertooth. Whatever you do, hurry up, we gotta get to that helipad before Koechner.
He started walking towards west, increasing his pace slowly to give the Punisher the chance to catch up with him. The Wolverine was capable of killing if necessary... but he was also an X-Man. Frank stared plainly at him as he scratched his chin. Kasady. That meant Carnage was around. Blonsky didn't ring any bells, but Kasady was one that anyone who'd lived in New York knew about. Damn it. Frank turned back down to Mysterio and pointed the gun at his head.
"Time to leave the island."
BLAMBLAM.
Frank was rushing along behind Logan, making sure to close the distance as he stared towards the rodent. Limp-wristed when it came to punishment. But he was the best damn partner Frank had seen in years, so this wasn't the time to complain. He'd press on, it was time to get to that helipad.
