Thank you for the kind comments; I'm glad the program is useful to you. Your problem makes me think that it has something to do with changes in permissions. Have you recently changed your Windows user profile, such as using a different user account or moved profiles?. No I haven't changed my profile. What is even stranger is I still get this error after I uninstalled the program and then re-installed it.

So I was thinking. Is there anyway that someone smart could turn this into an app? I would pay .99 for it. I woul even kick a little in for development fees.
Just a simple drop down system that allowed us to email sheets out when they were completed.
Any takers?

Any takers? i asked Stain about it, he said there wasn't a way for him to do it just yet, but if he ever found out how he'd let me, and everyone know.

I imagine it would be easy if you already knew how to code it. What we need is someone on the board who has the knowledge.

My account got deleted because I haven't been logged in here for ages, like say the last time the program was updated Anyway, I searched the thread for "linux" but found just one post that had nothing to do with murpg builder. I wanted to let people know that this program works in Wine, at least for me running xubuntu, after installing a few packages and setting up something with a dll. If anyone else wants to try, go ahead, and if you run into errors, reply and i'll try to remember what i did to get it working, since i don't have the exact steps in my head. edit : oh and if anyone is in need of a mirror site for murpg builder or d&r charts etc, let me know.

gagoff: That's pretty sweet you got the program to run in Wine! Thank you for taking up the challenge of helping others make it work since I have almost zero experience with Linux. rinjo: That's a cool idea, but since you've asked for someone smart I am immediately precluded by default. Aside from that, life is too crazy for me right now to even consider it. The program is written in VB.NET. I don't know much about writing apps, but I would imagine the task of porting the character builder to an app would require a complete rewrite unless someone can figure out a Wines-like solution in an Apple environment. If I ever return to the program I would like to rewrite it in C++, which may open up wider options for porting, but that's quite a long way off from possibility at this point. An idea I've toyed with for a while that would be cross-platform compatible is to write a web-based version of the program. On an IIS server it is possible that portions of the programs code could be reused, avoiding a complete code rewrite. But as above, just ideas...

Hi guys, I ha dmisplaced this address a long time ago. Now I am back, but I noticed the links to download the beta for Morph are broken. Is the program still avaliable? Where can I get it? I used to have a very nice printable version of the character builder files, but I've just downloaded MUPRG 1.12 and it prints only in .txt format. Is it possible to get it again?

Hi, I'm new to the board and recently installed the character builder. How exactly can I add more form of transform self in the program? I can add the modifier, but it doesnt affect anything else.
Thank you,

Thank you, You have to click the button marked A.Forms and create one from there. It's added automatically, but you have to have Transform Self first.

No I haven't changed my profile. What is even stranger is I still get this error after I uninstalled the program and then re-installed it. I recently just ran into this problem myself and did a little checking up on it. Since Vista it seems that Microsoft, in an attempt to harden security, changed the permissions of the default installation folder "C:\Program Files\" so that restricted users cannot make direct writes to that folder. Programs are now to use the 'AppData' directory in each user's folder for direct writes. Sorry, guys, I missed the memo on that one when I wrote the program (actually, Vista came out mid-development). Though I've not tried it myself, turning UAC (User Account Control) off should be a workaround to this issue. While the error looks ugly, it didn't prevent me from loading/saving characters. Anyway, I hope that helps!

Hey everyone! It's been quite a while since I've stopped by and I just wanted to drop a little note saying hi to everyone. The wall colors have changed a bit around here but otherwise it feels pretty familiar. I actually just read through this entire thread again...good times!
Hopefully people are still getting some use out of my (now old) program.
Thank you again to everyone for their wonderful support and kindness despite the maddening bugs and glitches along the way!

I get a lot of use out of your program, and still love playing MURPG when I can get my hidebound friends to release the dice from their fingers (sad that I say it that way, since I'm the oldest member of the group).
Also, if you're still interested at all in development, might I make a suggestion that's a LOT safer than disabling UAC? Just change the default installation folder to C:\Games or something similar. That way, once it's installed, it'll be able to read/write its own folder without permission issues. I make it a habit to install all games and game-related software to C:\Games, that way I never run into any issues along those lines.

Iron Will does not appear to be in the list of abilities anywhere.
