POLYMORPH
Cost Level: AN + 8 levels
Description: This action allows a character to transform him/herself into any number of alternate forms. It’s like having an infinite number of characters at your disposal. Of course, there are limits to what you can do, but, as always, imaginative play can overcome this. First off, you can only polymorph into an animal that has existed in the real world (dinosaurs are allowed, but dragons, centaurs, etc. are not). The Actions, Abilities, and Modifiers of the new form must reflect this (i.e. no fire-breathing cows, French-speaking giraffes, etc.). Second, for every red stone spent to use this action you get 5 white stones to use for your new form. If you spend 4 red stones of effort, you can polymorph into a 20-stone animal. However, when polymorphed, your Intelligence remains the same, and you keep this action, for free. (It costs nothing to resume your natural form.) You also retain any Challenges, like Elemental Sensitivity, when in new forms. No additional Challenges may be purchased in new forms. The duration for remaining in each form is one hour. After a form is used (whether or not you used it for the entire hour), you cannot use that form again for five minutes (10 panels). The exception is your natural form, which you can assume as often as you like. This Action cannot be improved by lines of experience.
Options: - Can speak while in animal form (+1 to Cost Level) - Can only polymorph into a specific class of animals - Mammals only (-1 to Cost Level) - Birds only (-1 to Cost Level) - Reptiles and Amphibians only (-2 to Cost Level) - Dinosaurs only (-1 to Cost Level) (for the purposes of this Action pterodactyls and plesiosaurs are considered dinosaurs) - Fish and Aquatic Invertebrates only (-3 to Cost Level) - Insects and Terrestrial Invertebrates only (-3 to Cost Level)

I like the idea... But i dont know about dinasours.... I would say any known animal, insect that exstists today.
Imagen a man transforming into a T-Rex... Not fun... Those things are about 12 yards high.... And theres even bigger ones than a Rex...
There should also be a rule on how long it takes to change... Insect Size=3 panels Human Size= 1 panel Dinasour Size= 4 Panels

I was kinda thinking the same ability, only it's like Transform Others By Touch, only at a range. You know, something like the Wizards from Warcraft 2 and 3 could do?

This is a great write-up of a needed power. Good work. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes, but I cleaned up the grammar/language and format a little in case anyone wants to cut and paste or print it out:

The Transform self modifier with the unlimited forms option doesn't do the same ? Maybe you can lower the cost of this option if you limit yourself to a specific class of animals.

Well, whatever lets you be Changeling (a.k.a. beast Boy) from the Teen Titans...this thread more or less describes that to a T and offers limitations to make it cheaper and less powerful.
Is there a power for that already?

What about characters like say Skrulls-- they'd suffer for turning into a cow because it wasn't part of their natural habitat-- but we've seen it happen before.

Why not be able to advance this ability? You used Beast Boy as an example. I saw an episode of Teen Titans that showed BB before he was a TT. He wasn't able turn into large animals yet. He had to train his ability first. Then it showed the first time he turned into a T-Rex. He couldn't maintain the form for very long at all. Perhaps you could trade the disadvantage of not being able to advance in for a disadvantage of a reduced time limit (long periods for simple animals and really short periods for the more dangerous animals, based on AN of course).

Two suggestions, ignore at will: first, a chart similar to that of the Shrink power, extended for given Growth values as well, establishing a minimum and/or maximum size of creature you can extend or reduce your mass into when you Polymorph. Thus more skilled Polymorphers will have more range, while less skilled Polymorphers will only be able to turn into similarly-sized creatures.
Second, something like Photographic Reflexes: the Polymorpher would have had to have seen a creature in action in order to copy it. The GM can decide on the reality/practicality of any recorded evidence of a creature being able to do a given thing, just to prevent anyone polymorphing into a Godzilla, or other special effect...

I think that second suggestion would make an excellent disadvantage that someone could take. I don't think it should be a steadfast part of the rule because of polymorphers that turn into extinct animal (like Beast Boy).

Further disadvantage: Recognisable. Just as Beast Boy's alternative shapes are always green versions of the creatures he copies, the Polymorph's alternative appearances are distinctly marked. Your transformations may gain you powers of flight, speed, strength or size, but not camouflage.

What about a: "Actions AN# vs Forms Durability" kind of thing?? If the AN# is 1 level higher than the forms Durability, the form can be maintained without any problems... However, if the AN# is equal or lower than the forms Durability, the form can only be maintain for a number of panels equal to your original durability/intelligence (instead of 1 hour)
Exampel: Lets say Animo has a Polymorph of 4 and want to change into a wolf with a Durability of 2. He can then stay a wolf for a hour... Later he wants to change into an elefant which has a durability of 4 (or higher), he will only be able to maintain that form for (need to find out how long).
NOTE: Not sure if the limit should be increased to 2 or maybe even more.
But the last couple of suggestions to options sounds like good ones... But i think we would need to repost the Actions (dont know if SuperFerret is active and can alter the post)... Ill trie and get it done and hope no one beats me to it

Personal opinion, I think you should lower the cost. Metamorphisis, which is much more powerful, is +6.... Why is this +8 when Husk could do anything Beast Boy could do, but can do it better because instead of just becoming an elephant, per say, she can become an elephant with metallic skin to give it more toughness, or become an elephant with wings, or perhaps become, instead of an elephant, a Rhino Beetle the size of an elephant. See what I'm saying? Something shouldn't be more expensive than another option unless it offers more to the user (Blasting is the exception to this rule, still don't know why it costs less than fly lol)
My recommendation? +5 Levels. This way, you acknowledge Metamorphisis' superiority, but keep your own power's integrity intact
