BACKGROUND
Vanguard and his twin sister, Darkstar, were born to the man who would become the immensly powerful Presence. The then-Soviet government took custody of the children to train them to become super soldiers. Vanguard and Darkstar served the Soviet government in many ways as part of the Soveit Super Soldiers, and came into conflict with many American heroes.
Later, the government wanted the threat of the Presence eliminated, and sent his own children, unaware of their true relationship, to murder him. They learned that he was their father, and turned against the Soviet regime. Vanguard, Darkstar, and Ursa Major became agents on their own, fighting for the good of the people.
Finally fed up with the Communist system, the three heroes defected to the United States, only to be captured and returned to the Soviet states. There, they were rescued by Blindfaith and his "Exiles," in order to form an underground team that would fight for the people under a government that hates and fears them.

BACKGROUND
Laynia Petrovna and her twin brother Nicolai (now, Vanguard) were born to the premiere Soviet scientist, Sergei Krylov, whose work with nuclear radiation made his children born as mutants. Upon the discovery of the twins' mutant nature, the government stole the children in order to raise them for the good of the state and led their father to believe them dead. The government trained them to be special agents, giving Laynia the code-name Darkstar based on her abilities to wield the extradimensional energy known as Darkforce. Petrovna and her brother came into conflict with many American heroes under the state's direction. Later, Sergei Krylov became the super-powered menace called the Presence. The government wanted his threat eliminated and sent his own children out to murder him. Unaware of their true relationship, the heroes learned that the Presence was their father and turned against the Soviet regime. Petrovna and her brother joined fellow agent Ursa Major in becoming agents on their own, fighting for the good of the people as the Soviet Super Soldiers.
Petrovna wandered to America where she encountered and joined the hero team Champions, and when that team disbanded, she joined the Defenders. She developed a brief romance with fellow teammate Iceman. After several adventures, she returned to her homeland.
Finally fed up with their Soviet government, the Soviet Super Soldiers defected to the United States, only to be captured and returned to the USSR by the new government-sponsored team, the Supreme Soviets. There, they were rescued by Blind Faith and his fellow mutant "exiles," in order to form an underground team that would fight for the people under a government that hates and fears them. In one such battle, Petrovna and Blind Faith encountered a immensely powerful psychic being, the Soul-Skinner, and with the help of Iceman and his mutant teammates of the X-Men, defeated him.
Later, Petrovna was captured by General Tskarov, a communist sympathizer who wanted to use Petrovna's abilities in his plans to cripple American business along the east coast, even if that meant putting her through painful scientific experiments. Luckily, she was discovered by Tskarov's other pawn, Ursa Major, and with him, her brother, the hero Daredevil and the Black Widow, helped bring Tskarov down.

BACKGROUND
Ursus was one of the first mutants born in the former Soviet Union. He escaped the usual practice of mutant genocide by being brought into service for the State by Prof. Phobos. Here, he met and worked alongside Vanguard and Darkstar. Later, the government impressed him and his two friends into service as the Soviet Super Soldiers. After working for several cases, Ursus and the others vowed not to serve their state, and even tried to defect to America. Their defection was foiled by the People's Protectorate, and the defectors were brought back to a scientific base for unknown purposes before being rescued by Blindfaith and his mutant underground. Ursa Major faught alongside his comrades Vanguard and Darkstar as the Russian mutant underground was compromised, He remained with them when Blindfaith formed the Exiles.
Later, Ursa Major followed Vanguard into the employ of General Tskarov, a communist sympathisizer who wanted to undermine American business along the east coast. They only agreed, however, in order to find the missing Darkstar, whom Ursa Major found in Tskarov's labs, being experimented on. Ursa, Darkstar, and Vanguard then joined the Black Widow and Daredevil in taking Tskarov down. Presumably, Ursa returned to the mother country to continue his fight there.

Nice write ups, I'm a bit confused as to why you've chosen to put them in the "Villain" category though. They were only ever ideologically opposed to the 'standard' (read: American) heroes, and even as far back as the first Contest of Champions (in about 1982 I think) Vanguard was included as a hero. It should also be noted that Darkstar recently died a hero fighting alongside the X-Corporation in the Channel Tunnell.

Yeah I know. I flipped flopped all day on where to put them. They'd probably be better off in the hero section. They attacked my boy ROM so I'm kind of biased!!
