Heya. I tried searching but couldn't find a thread for this specific issue. I was thinking about creating a magic character, but I got stuck when it came to the intelligence bonus. Mastery of magic + Sorcery for example. Would I need to buy Int. Bonus at +5 levels for each action, or just Mastery of Magic and then inherit the bonus to all the sub-masteries, so to speak?

Every action needs their own int bonus. I know, sucks.

Oh crap. That makes it ass-expensive to use magic. I guess it's pretty powerful which might be the reason, but for a 40w character you can't really get alot of magic in there. Of course, I could just do without the bonus... Any ideas?

Not really. You'll character will just be weaker from the start. The only idea is to get a lot of Inteligence and Int Bonus to Magic, then slowly use LOE to upgrade it, and maybe make some items that will boost it.

Are you kidding me??
Mastery of Magic is an incredibly powerful option for a 40 stone character (given that most OTHER 40 stone characters can't generate much more than 6 stones of effect anyway)
Yes, Magic costs a little more... but its well worth it for the flexibility and uberishness of Sorcery.

Allrighty, so if I put my Int. at 8 and Mastery of Magic and Asgardian Sorcery at 1, making them cost 9w each, that's still pretty strong. I'm guessing you'd need alot of Durability to be able to use the energy, or Int. Based energy. Is that ever worth it? edit : Oh and, thanks for being so helpful with input to someone who's a little bored at work

If you know how to use it- Asgardian Sorcery is a BEAST and one of the most potentialy game breaking device in this setting, But used sparingly, its "just" a great action.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend getting the Intelligence Bonus for MoM. You can only create effects of up to 6r and you need at least 1/2 MoM to use any of the other Actions. I would, personally, get a higher MoM without the Intelligence bonus and use the leftover to boost your Asgardian Sorcery.

Ok, so if I put my MoM at 3 I can't use Asgardian Sorcery higher than 6, even with the bonus? If my AS is 2 and Int 8, I'd need MoM at 5 to fully use the AS at 10? ... That's a whole messy bunch of abbreviations

No, the action itself must be no more then twice your Mastery of Magic. Bonus isnt counted. And yes, forgot to mention- MoM cant make any effect more then 6rs per panel. It does however give you the option to regenerate AN of free stones every panel though (Accumulate Energy it is, I think).

Yep, at +1... BEST +1 option in the game, period.
Magic is insanely uber, and more than worth the cost.

Absolutely. The cost of Intelligence bonus on magic is totally justified.

What if your PC only has 3 OR 4 Intelligence, could U fairly charge +3/+4 for Intell . . . Bonus?

Yes; one of the books suggests this.
