Here's an alternate, way evil Wolverine. The Origin miniseries (or TPB) is recommended reading to understand this character. Note: It's only my guess that "Dog" and Creed are one and the same. If I'm wrong about that, then Wolf must have met him later in life, with much the same results.

DESCRIPTION James Howlett was a small and sickly child, the only surviving child of a wealthy Canadian family in the 1800s. His only friends were Rose, an older girl hired to be his companion, and Dog, the son of the family’s groundskeeper, Thomas Logan. A bitter, drunken, and abusive man, Thomas was also secretly James’ biological father. After Thomas was fired for Dog’s violent behavior, the two armed Logans broke into the Howlett mansion, intending to kidnap James’ mother but ending up shooting his father and Rose. Witnessing both murders caused James’ mutation to assert itself for the first time and he killed Thomas and wounded Dog with the claws that sprouted from his hands. His mother, already imbalanced, chased him from the house and then shot herself. Dog blamed the killings on Rose, and though James’ grandfather suspected the whole truth, he backed the story, keeping James’ mutation a secret.
James grew up in the vast house, now alone except for his dour, class-conscious grandfather, the servants, and Dog, who the grandfather took on as James’ personal servant and companion. Young Master Howlett learned from his grandfather to be a hard and unforgiving Lord of the Manor, a man whose station in life placed him far above those around him. As his mutation matured, he came to feel more even than human, a being outside the limitations of morality and law. With the help of the equally ruthless Dog, who had mutated in a similar way, he became the terror of the countryside, committing acts of assault, rape, and even murder with the abandon of a young Medieval noble. He began, too, to run wild at times with a pack of feral dogs, thus earning the whispered nickname of Wolf.
After his grandfather’s death, James grew bored. Leaving the estate in the care of servants, he went with Dog out into the world. Their journeys spanned decades and further honed their skills until they became a pair of unstoppable, untraceable killers. In later years, they began slaking their bloodlust by joining armed forces and mercenary groups involved in wars. Howlett filled the years between conflicts at his estate, acquiring personal wealth and status and eventually becoming one of the most powerful and influencial men in the world.
Once, captured by the Canadian government during a series of feral murders in the wilds of Ontario, James and Dog were taken to a secret facility to be human experiments in the creation of Super-Soldiers. Already experts at escaping incarceration, the two broke free and slaughtered every person in the facility. Returning home, James used his power and connections to acquire the secrets of the so-called Weapon X Project for himself. He then subjected Dog to the same torturous treatments from which the two had escaped, transforming his servant into an unstoppable killing machine with unbreakable Adamantium bones and claws to complement his enhanced senses and inhuman healing rate. Concerned that Dog might attempt retaliation for this betrayal, he also utilized the Project to replace these memories with layers of false ones created to bolster his servant’s loyalty.
Shortly thereafter, Howlett joined several other powerful and ruthless individuals as a member of the Hellfire Club. He soon plotted and finally murdered its Black Rook, ironically a mutant with the power to become a wolf, and took his place as part of the Club’s Inner Circle. Wolf Howlett has finally found a place in the world among the few people whom he might consider peers.
