Holy crap, someone actually defeated /b/? I must not have been on that day.
IN OTHER NEWS, I was thinking of a great villain for this team. He is called:
"ANONYMOUS. He is a hairless, featureless, green skinned humanoid in a fine black suit. His personality is in a terrifying flux constantly, in some ways like the Joker. Whether takes a kindergarten hostage and makes sexually inappropriate balloon animals for them or goes into an old folks home, steals all the walkers and wheelchairs, and makes them race down the hallway by setting a hungry fire at one end, no one can predict. He's as likely to help a stranded motorist with a good sense of humor as he is to replace your gatorade with bleach, 'for the lulz.' He is fickle, conscienceless-attention-deficit incarnate, and unfortunately, he can't be killed. Should you manage it, Anonymous will instantaneously find himself another host anywhere on the planet and possess them. The only hope is to contain him, but beware. He never forgives, and never forgets."
Essentially, the idea is that his consciousness is comprised of the entire gamut of potential human thoughts and deeds collected into an aggregate. However, unlike a normal person, who you could say is also capable of anything, he has no defined, single personality. He is as likely to think and act like your average nice person at one moment, and then the most callous, bloodthirsty asshole the next.

I'm still trying to work out the powers for a super hero team, for now. But that sounds like an awesome (though terrifying) villain. For my 'Weight Gain' character, I decided that having the weight gain aspect be permanent and ongoing rather than an alternate form would be good. So the character will be a test tube baby, created in the same Weapon X labs as Deadpool and Wolverine, from the DNA of Blob and Big Bertha. Being able to control gravity to a certain extent, she can hit hard, lift lots, and generally act stronger than she should be. She is also able to deflect small arms fire with her body fat. She has found she can gain weight (in the form of fat) with none of the usual health risks, and that a thicker layer seems to give more protection. Since she has been basically adopted by The Fox, after he rescued her from the streets after she fled the labs, she decided to become a superhero, just like her 'Dad'. Since she decided to become a superhero, she figures she should try to gain more weight, to become more invulnerable. She's also trying to convince her Dad to call in a few friends to start a Seattle Superteam. She calls herself...

Whoops, sorry for dropping this topic, then thread raising it! I've been in hospital, but no matter! All better now! I was actually out a month ago but I'd completely forgotten about this thread. And now I can't think of a decent name for the weight gain superhero. Any suggestions? (The Incredible Bulk?)
Edit:Nevermind! I got it! Her name has nothing to do with her powers! She was adopted by The Fox, right? She's kind of his sidekick turned partner, right? But she's a girl, right? So how about... The Vixen!

Rule 34

Post by karljagheim on Jul 5, 2009 19:44:09 GMT -5
So, for challenges, maybe a few points for being fat? Not the health problems, which are rendered moot by her power, and not the weight (or is it mass?) itself, which is rendered moot by her power. I mean something more like 2 points for the fact that appearing obese can make you a target for prejudice from many people even if you don't look 'nonhuman', 2 points for the sheer problems of size itself in terms of fitting through small trapdoors or manholes, and finally 2 points for the fact that it makes a secret identity useless. I like to think she have started off as a superheroine wearing a domino mask and suit like Batgirl, till someone pointed out that, A) She is the only obese superheroine in the state. And, B) She lives with The Fox in both secret and public IDs. Also, she wears reading glasses. Don't know where the idea came from, but now I can't imagine her not needing to wear them. 2 points, because its not a big deal. Edit: Just remembered, being cloned from Big Bertha and the Blob means she's at least mutant on her father's side. (Is Big Bertha a mutant, or what?) And she's dead broke, obviously. 13 points total.
As for attributes, Intelligence, I think 4 should do it. Not bad for a teenager, but then, she does have to keep up with The Fox. Strength, is actually tied with her powers, which instinctively control gravity for her. So 6, maybe? Agility, should be surprisingly good for someone so overweight. 2 should do. Speed, is just fine at a similarly surprising 2. Durability, thanks to the same powers that keep her from having health issues, is also 6. So a total cost of 19w1r
Now, for modifiers, I think Toughness to represent the 'layers of fat' used as armour is a must. Toughness 2 (With No AP and No Double Damage) is appropriate, since that is half of what her much, much larger biological 'father' (the Blob) has. A healing factor, but not accelerated, as part of the power that prevents her layers of fat from being a problem. Adamantium Skeleton, because it is Weapon X who built her, and it would help support her weight. And I think that's it. Edit: I just got a bunch of points from remembering that she is a mutant, and dead broke, so I bought her a Healing factor (which makes sense, given her powers) that only works when she really gorges herself, providing the necessary extra calories that her body needs to fix itself (and fitting the character perfectly, after a major battle, her first thoughts will be to eat). She also gets immortality, derived from her healing factor, but she doesn't know about it yet, being too young for anyone to expect her to age. Total of 24 points.
Actions, She's another product of Weapon X's clone child-soldier programme, like X-23, so she was raised for most of her life (all but a few years) in a lab. Which suggests low social skills. So, since I still have a 1r in my Attribute cost, I shall give her Social Skills 2 (Specialties: Weapon-X clone-child, Scientists) Some General Knowledge is more likely, she saw only a few people before escaping a few years ago, so she is quite shy but curious about the world and has therefore become quite the bookworm. She also has a thorough knowledge of martial arts. General Knowledge 3 (Int bonus, Specialties: Superheroes, World Geography, Martial Arts) She was trained in martial arts at the labs, being nothing more than a 'living weapon' to them. They taught her only unarmed combat, including sumo wrestling, since abusing a bulletproof woman, then giving her a gun, is never a good idea. Like The Fox, she is more dangerous without a weapon. Close Combat 6 (Dur bonus or Weapon mod) And finally, Unstoppable 4 (Str bonus) for that dramatic entrance that suits her so well. Total of 9w2r

Now, for Vixen's Close Combat specialties, I think Weapon X trained her well, but in martial arts only. This is because she doesn't look like a likely assassin, so she would be overlooked as a probable threat unless she were carrying a weapon. Also, since her power makes her potentially bulletproof, she also wasn't trusted with weapons in case she went on a killing spree that they could not stop. First of all, they taught her basic military unarmed combat, then Tae Kwon Do followed by Muay Thai. Then they moved on to Capoeira, the Brazilian dancing martial art, and Krav Maga, the Israeli Defence Force's martial art. When she had learnt these arts to an acceptable standard, weighing 200lbs at the time, she was started on a high fat, minimal effort regime to gain as much weight as fast as possible. Two months later, she was finally judged to be fat enough to begin teaching the art of Sumo wrestling. Six months later, she was able to sneak away during the chaos of another Weapon-X clone (X-23, actually) running amok and escaping.

I noticed that I haven't given The Fox any specialties yet, . So, five of them for Close Combat. I see him as less about beating people up and more about stopping them from hurting anyone. So Judo first, a nice defensive martial art. Then Karate, just in case he needs to really stop someone in their tracks. Maybe boxing because I have been thinking about giving him a taser glove (look for it on youtube) and I think that this would help him get a solid hit with the knuckle-electrodes. Escrima, a martial art that uses two batons, similar to Oracle (DC's original Batgirl, now in a wheelchair) and Nightwing (DC's original Robin), just in case of a really bad fight. And maybe Fox-Claw, for a sort of mystic martial art of the Fox Avatar, which will give me some good roleplaying opportunities. Then Social Skills 6, giving me plenty of variation. I see him as being fluent in Spanish, if only because I want to acknowledge Zorro. His name is 'Fox' in Spanish and he is, to be fair, probably the inspiration for these ideas. Then Furry Subculture, because it will have to come up, since that is kind of the whole point behind this team. Next is Superheroes, for those constant little crossovers that Marvel heroes have. I think Japanese next, because they have a very big cultural thing about foxes. Then 'The Hunt', which covers a Fox hunting a mouse for eating, a Fox Hunt and maybe even the hunt for a criminal. Then of course 'Fox God' because he is. The CAD on the first page has been changed to include these.

I'm gonna cheat a little and skip ahead to the 'clones/twins' idea, because most of the work is done for me with a 30 stone modifier, 'Duplicate Self'. Simple.
Now, since there are five members of this group, dividing them between male and female would make them uneven, so instead, I'll give my duplicator just one other 'Superpower', a very low level shapeshifting ability, to let hir flip genders whenever sie likes. Plus letting them appeal to different people and, if necessary, differentiating between them.
So intelligence, about 3 should do. Same for all the other attributes, really. The Action Number 3 lets me make an terrible pun in hir name: 'Threesome'. 7 points
Shapeshifting 1 Just enough to pass a random bystander. Social skills 3 -Group Oratory (Just for the irony) -Seduction -Persuasion Close Combat 4 (Int bonus or Weapon mod) -Karate -Teamwork (There's no I in team, there's a team in this I!) -Nightstick -Fox-Claw (Trained by The Fox) Ranged Combat 3 (Weapon mod) -Tranq gun -Laser Pistols -Thrown Nightstick Vehicle Ops 4 -Vans -Speed boats -Helicopters -Cars

Hir only modifier is Wealth 3. Sie inherited half of hir father's wealth, when he died in his sleep at the age of ninety. The other half went to hir beloved mother. She donates to the cause sometimes, too.
Challenges Mutant -3 Looks nonhuman: Very androgynous, and kind of elfin. -3
I've realised that while all Duplicators fulfill one common fetish, making them androgynous and giving them a shapeshifting power lets them satisfy at least two others.

And now the really hard one. Inflation. I figure, being able to inflate yourself isn't really the selling point of this character as a superhero. She's really just using her powers to give her the ability to inflate herself and then using the ability to inflate herself to give herself other powers. If that makes any sense.
So, what power allows you to stretch to fit more air/water/etc inside? Well, um, stretching, actually.
I figure stretching should be useful in itself. But there is also: Flight (filling herself with air and making her arms stretch into wings for gliding), Swimming (making her own flippers and/or inflating with air), Force blast (expelling air at high pressure), Telekinesis (but only to pull things to you or push them away, with superbreath), Clinging (flattening to a surface and clinging to atomically small cracks) etc.
