Modifiers
Precognition (6w)
Wind's Precognition isn't the vision of the future you'd expect- it is based on inhumanly fast calculations of probabilities of everything he's aware of. Anything he's not aware of is entirely missed by his Precognition.
Personal Luck (Good): 2 (9w)
Again, although it's flavor here, Wind's 'luck' is just the result of his impossible understanding of odds and chance. He doesn't manipulate fate, he just knows what fate has in store a bit early, and takes advantage of it.
Animal Senses: 4 (2w)
Ditto ditto. His senses are functionally beyond humanity's normal peak, as his brain doesn't filter in the same fashion as it normally would, and thus is far more likely to pick up on incongruitious or faint sensory data.
Wealth: 3 (1w)
Equipment
Costume of Unstable Molecules (+2)
Unstable Molecule Saber (+1)
Waterproof Ultratech Computer (+2)
Challenges
Mutant (+3w)
Cold to the touch (+1w)
Pacifist (+1w)
Avery was your fairly normal child growing up- except, of course, that he was smaller and smarter than most of his fellow elementary schoolers. Much smarter and much smaller. Thus, he was the guy that bullies practicied their skills on, polishing their intimidation against him between class and lunch.
Unwilling to take this kind of abuse, Avery started to study martial arts- Akido, to be specific. His teacher was always very firm on one point, however- fighting was only meant in the final extremes of self-defense. This extreme pacifist mentality lingers with Avery even now.
Being small and slight, the way Avery learned was to redirect force. Here his mind was a deadly asset. He understood the philosophy of what he was doing, and from there the deeper forms and ways of redirecting an attack away. When he was only a little older, he took up fencing as well, more for fun than anything serious. The same deadly intellect applied itself quickly to the art of the blade. As both of his parents were quite well off, these lessons were easily indulged in. By the time Avery was in his early teens, he was an accomplished student in both disciplines, and the bullies left him alone- the one time he was forced to act had convinced them to find easier prey.
Then, it happened. Avery's mutation kicked in as he was leaving for a presitigious private high school- the ability to turn into a liquid state, only slightly more dense than water. Anything he was wearing at the time of the transformation simply slipped through him, and his flesh turned icy cold. Ashamed of his 'condition', Avery withdrew from the cliques and societies of school, losing himself in a world of computers. Bright enough to pass his classes without needing to apply himself, he slipped through the cracks easily.
It was only later that he discovered a further mutation- his cognitive abilities had been sharpened. He found he no longer thought in a 'normal' fashion- his mind processed information far more quickly and efficently than it ever had before. He could unconciously seize advantages too subtle to have been seen, and became virtually impossible to suprise.
It wasn't until another mutant manifested at his school- a long time bully by the name of Thomas Wolf, who simply went by his last name, that Avery left his self-imposed isolation. Wolf began setting up a criminal cartel from the school, with the ability to project himself astrally away from his body and then telepathically spy on the thoughts of those in a position to be blackmailed, as well as impose an impressive degree of dumb loyalty on the weak willed. Avery knew that he had to act.
Avery's mind proved too strong for the Wolf to crack when the two came to direct confrontation, and his years of physical training- coupled with the ability to functionally see the future -let Avery quickly and with a minimum of damage to anyone, break the Wolf's growing criminal power. It also brought him to the attention of the X-Men, as Xavier was hunting for the source of the unusal blackmail telepath. He was brought into the School for Gifted Youngsters shortly thereafter.
His code name has drawn from his initally discovered ability. After a costume was created that would transform with him (as well as, later, a blunt fencing foil), he incorported the transformation into his fighting style, as well as a handy way to escape or gain some *hemhem* enteries of questionable legality.
Now grown, Avery lives as a freelance hacker. Nominally, he is a programing consultant. He also lines his pockets by looting the bank accounts of criminals- hurting them in the worst way he can while retaining his non-violence. Of course, if he sometimes has to done his costume and venture forth as Wave...
