Such figures represent humanity's elemental search for survival and meaning in mortality, a relentless quest for unity with the divine and the interdependent nature of the existential web. The present text is intended to introduce students unfamiliar with the concept of the Horned God to an archetype which repeats itself in many ancient religions. Though later demonized by conquering Christian invaders from Rome and elsewhere, among the indigenous peoples of the European mainland, Britain and Ireland, the Horned God personified a manly affinity with the animal kingdom. His relevance in today's society is also increasingly being recognized. One of the earliest representations of a Horned God in a purely Celtic context, according to Morning Glory Zell (1991), is a rock carving from Val Camonica in northern Italy. The God is portrayed standing upright wearing a long garment and carrying a torc, the collar-shaped necklace of divine authority. As is common, he is accompanied by a horned serpent and a male worshiper. These symbols foreshadow a combination of identifying features--antlers, torc, horned serpent and other animals--recognizable in later period artwork. Subsequent images often show the Horned God seated in a half-lotus position familiar to yogis. The name Cernunnos has come down to us through a stone relief carving from the Gallo-Roman period which was unearthed in Paris of a God with antlers, upon each of which hangs a torc. In the collection of the Cluny Museum in Paris, the stone bears the clearly legible inscription CERNUNNOS in Roman letters above the God's face. But it would be a mistake to identify all horned gods as Cernunnos, or even all stag-antlered ones. Cernunnos is the most common name used today for the deity called "Uindos" in Old Irish literature. He is also sometimes called "Finn," the name of a main hero in a cycle of ancient stories about the "Fianna" or warrior-bands of Old Ireland. Undoubtedly the most famous image believed to represent Cernunnos is from an inner plate of a priceless silver-plated copper cauldron unearthed in the spring of 1891 in a Danish peat-bog near the hamlet of Gundestrup in Northern Jutland. Cauldrons or chalices (also called grails) were often used in ancient Pagan religious rites, symbolic of the cauldron of the goddess Cerridwen, the so-called cauldron of rebirth. But the Gundestrup cauldron was obviously very special. After more than a century of debate, scholars seem to have reached consensus in dating its manufacture to the late Iron Age -- the second or first century BCE. Vividly decorating the cauldron's plates are scenes of war and sacrifice, bearded deities wrestling ferocious beasts, a bare-breasted goddess standing flanked by elephants, and a commanding figure with stag's antlers brandishing a ram-headed snake in one hand and a twisted neck collar or torc in the other. Most scholars agree this figure is Cernunnos. In their "lectures on Irish magick, cosmology and poetry," Darkstar & Bwca (1992) question whether the antlered deity on the cauldron plate is really Cernunnos at all. They offer the following observations: "The figures on the Gundestrup cauldron, there are Goddess figures and there are God figures. The Goddess figures all have little teeny-weeny bumpy breasts hanging out on the front, and most of them have braids or other long hair. The God figures uniformly have beards. The antlered figure has neither of these characteristics, and so would apparently be an androgynous figure, something in between, the liminal state. Here is a person who is deliberately putting themselves into that in between state. They're in between genders, which is another one of those important turning points, magickally speaking" (p. 26). This theory is in stark contrast to Morning Glory Zell's deeply evocative, sensual and unequivocally male version of the illustration first published in 1983 in The Green Egg magazine and later by Rowan (1987) in his excellent book The Horned God. Present space will not permit extensive discussion of the religious beliefs of the culture which brought the Gundestrup cauldron into existence. Additional readings are recommended at the conclusion of this article for those who are interested. But in prehistoric Pagan societies, particularly that of the Celts, it is now understood that ethnicity, gender and mythology were much more complex than previously supposed. Firm cultural boundaries may not have existed, humanity and its gods seem to have been viewed as having more than simply male and female genders, and religious beliefs were flexible and multi-faceted. Applying such concepts in modern life has profound implications. To illustrate the permeability of cultural boundaries, the ancient Celts appear to have been influenced by traditions from as far away as India, as evidenced by the position of th legs of the antlered god depicted on the Gundestrup cauldron and elsewhere. Students of ancient religions have commented on the similarity of Cernunnos as depicted on the cauldron and a prototypical image of Shiva Pashupati, from a Mohenjadaro seal impression dated around 1500 BCE. Cernunnos is understood as a complex and powerful god, though he may not have been the head of the Celtic pantheon. Since his earliest origins as Lord of Hunt, he has been associated with animals, abundance, good fortune and virile fertility. But since the object of the hunt is the death of the prey, and the hunter is sometimes even killed in this life-sustaining pursuit, Cernunnos is recognized as both the God of Death and guardian of the underworld. In this sense, as well as being a giver of earthly riches, Cernunnos could perhaps be compared to the Plutos (though it is more often Pan, god of music, who is generally pictured in Greek art as having horns). Irish stories describe Cernunnos (Uindos) as the son of the high god Lugh. He is called a wild hunter, a warrior, and a poet. Similarities between the Celtic and Germanic pantheons explain why the Romans identified both Lugh and Wodan with Mercury (Hermes). Lugh and Odin share many attributes, suggesting a common mythological descent. Analysis of Cernunnos shows some of the same traits and symbols in common with the patron God of physicians, healers and magicians. The Greeks called Hermes Psychopomp (conductor of souls), the very same title given to the Lord of Death (whom the Celts recognized as Cernunnos) in his union with the Lady of Life. Though no known ancient examples have been uncovered where Cernunnos is clearly depicted with a consort, he is portrayed in the company of many Goddesses on the Gundestrup cauldron. This fits with is generally known about social relations between the sexes among ancient Celts, as well as aspects of that which has been reconstructed of Druid religion. In our present age, various representations of the Horned God as a gentle, masculine figure strike a resonant chords for many in the neo-Pagan movement. Some Wiccan alters provide a place of reverence for his noble visage alongside a worthy representation of a manifestation of an ancient Goddess. Meditation on such images, research and study of the old ways, and other Pagan spiritual practices provide meaning and depth to growing numbers of Americans today.

I made a +5 shield (21 stones) DESCRIPTIONIt has been said that a man torn in more than one direction, hasn't a leg to stand on. Martin Tolliver hasn't had a leg to stand on for a while. As a child he grew up always on the move, as his father was in the military. Every couple month he would make friends, until it came time to move again. After a couple years of enduring this lifestyle Martin just started keeping to himself. He didn't see the benefit of making friends if he was to lose them a little later either by moving or self fulfilling prophecies. This thinking has carried into his adult life for the most part. Although he seemed a little rough on the outside and aloof, the time alone by himself made him challenge himself more and made him into a tougher individual. He was a gifted athlete and trained himself more and more from place to place as he moved. Soon wherever he went he had a reputation of being a star athlete, a reputation that he knew was true in his heart. Brimming with self confidence now, it seemed that instead of making friends whenever he moved, Martin made enemies. Although fighting at high schools wasn't a rare occurrence for him, fighting one on one was. Normally it took three or four people to bring Martin down. Soon things became a little too much for Martin's family and they placed him into a juvenile correction boot camp program. Although it straitened him up a little, it also furthered his knowledge in self defense as well as fed his ego. Soon he graduated the camp when he was of age and joined the military. Because of his field excellence, within a couple months Martin along with two other recruits were chosen for a secret elite strike team. They administered secret solutions into their persons, and were given orders to infiltrate a munitions factory in order to secure it. So that the US wouldn't be held accountable, the team members were to don masks and secret aliases, becoming in essence super heroes, in order to complete their mission. Although what happened that day isn't quite clear, and Martin refuses to talk about it, one thing is certain, he was never the same again after that day. Martin soon became an enemy to the US and their polices. He struck out with against the US with self righteous campaigns and also with other foreign super villain teams. Seeing that nothing was getting him anywhere Martin decided to do something drastic, he again offered himself to the US government as a spy. They recruited him to join in on a newly forming team, the Dark Avengers. Martin's motives are not clear cut, even within his own mind. He's again currently under cover as a “bad guy,” even though in his own heart he is really under cover as a “good guy.” He is trying to serve himself while both sides fight over him. He doesn't jump ship, until his attention dies down. With nothing to prove to anyone Martin must soon make choices in his head, or face the consequences of his actions as soon as they catch up to him. Will this good gone bad gone good gone seemingly bad again superhero make the choice himself? Or will someone have to make it for him?

Maddie claims she buys clothes only to cover the emptiness in her heart. On the other hand, she was miserable during her early childhood years, because her father never appeared when she needed him such as when the Tipton family loses all of their money in the episode, Poor Little Rich Girl and when it was the father-daughter dance at London's school in the episode, The Prince & The Plunger.[5] At the age of 15, she met Maddie Fitzpatrick, who eventually becomes her best friend. London enrolls at Maddie's Catholic school, Our Lady Of Perpetual Sorrow. Later on in the series, London was expelled because she did not attend her classes. When her father hears about her expulsion, he sends her to the Seven Seas High, a high school program at the S.S. It has been taught to them, that if they heroically die in battle, a battlerager will return to the universe stronger than before as just reward. It is because of this philosophical doctrine, that battleragers have no fear of death. Battleragers are given to drinking, rowdy and boisterous singing, and drunken dancing. They also command grudging, if fearful, respect within dwarven society, where they are known to have coined such philosophically complex dwarven maxims like "head first" and "if it moves, kill it." It is no wonder why most live short, but often glorious lives. Like his kind, while enraged Hanarr's face becomes distorted and twisted. His teeth grind together as spittle flies from his mouth and dribbles down his beard. His eyes enlarge, bulge, and become bloodshot. He charges first into battle, all the while bellowing forth his clan or holy war song and hurling mindless insults. He chucks hammers and axes all the way, before cleaving his foes with his mighty dwarven waraxe. In short, Hanarr becomes almost unstoppable. Battleragers are often covered from head to toe in body art, from tattoos to brands to ritual scars. They prefer to wear spiked armor, and some of them ride specially trained boars into battle. However Hanarr has yet to come across a tattoo artist he feels could bring him closer to his god, or a boar wild enough to venture with him. The battlerager fills a particular niche in dwarf society and culture. He is a fearless and impulsive warrior, able to enter into an insane rampage. Battleragers are ruthlessly used by dwarf generals for their shock power against attacking armies. Battlerager guilds are often located on the fringes of dwarven society, kept out of view and away from easily influenced dwarven children, who often hear of the kuldjarghs' fearlessness but rarely their folly. While heroic battle is honored in dwarven society and battleragers often excel in this, more often than not they also epitomize lives wasted in stupid rage, something most dwarves realize they cannot afford in a world filled with orcs and goblins. Although not a direct part of the rage, Battleragers often carry a special drink called Gutshaker, which is a dwarven secret as to its brewing, but the Battlerager must drink at least a gallon of this stuff each day or the fatigue of ending a Battlerage will last all day rather than clearing up after the encounter as for a normal rage. Any other who drinks it usually becomes violently ill. The Dwarven pantheon of gods consists of: Moradin: Moradin is the chief deity in the dwarven pantheon in the Dungeons & Dragons game and is a member of the default D&D pantheon. Moradin's domains are Creation, Earth, Good, Law, and Protection. His titles include Soul Forger, Dwarffather, the All-Father, and the Creator. He created the first dwarves out of earthen materials and tutored them in dwarven ways. Abbathor: Abbathor is the dwarven deity of greed. His holy symbol is a jeweled dagger. Abbathor manifests as a very large dwarf, fat and piggy-eyed. He wears leather and furs made from those non-dwarves who have opposed him in the past. Berronar Truesilver: Berronar Truesilver is the dwarf deity of safety, truth, home, and healing. She shares a realm with Moradin, Erackinor, on the plane of Mount Celestia. She acts as Moradin's consort. Clanggedin Silverbeard: Clanggedin Silverbeard is the dwarf deity of battle. Clanggedin's realm is named Mount Clanggedin after himself, located on the plane of Arcadia. Dugmaren Brightmantle: Dugmaren Brightmantle is the dwarf deity of scholarship, discovery, and invention. Dugmaren shares the Dwarven Mountain on the Outlands with Dumathoin and Vergadain. Dumathoin: Dumathoin is the patron of mountain dwarves, and the dwarf deity of mining and underground exploration. He is also the protector of the dwarven dead. His holy symbol is a cut, faceted gem inside of a mountain Muamman Duathal: Muamman Duathal is the dwarf deity of wanderers and expatriates. He is also the dwarven god of lightning, which he uses as an omen. His symbol is an upright mace over a single leather boot trimmed with fur, or a mace clutched by a pair of gauntleted fists. DESCRIPTION Vance Langford is truly a lonely man. In the eyes of the media, Vance is a prominent judge that rose up quickly through the judicial system in part to his vast legal knowledge, and also due to his work ethic and obsession for justice. But he is so much more than that.
Some think it fitting, while others think it unbecoming and say that he rose through the ranks in other more mysterious ways. It is because of his rapid rise, that Vance has drawn many enemies in the legal world as well as the media, enemies that will do just about anything to make sure Vance is discredited and shown to be nothing more than someone who was given too much too quickly. Although this might be the case on some accounts, Vance has known nothing in his life but opposition.
As a young boy Vance Langford grew up in a prominent home. Although it is now common knowledge that his father was a mafia head, Vance's family was well off and there was nothing that Vance wanted that he couldn't get. This all ended quickly and tragically one day after the young boy turned six. Vance was with his family in a car traveling to an opera, when rival gang members surrounded the car with their own and then opened fire on the family and the driver. In a last ditch effort to save his son, Vance's father fell on top of him before the bullets fell. It was because of his sacrifice, as well as the gang members' rush that Vance was spared that day.
Although disconnected in school, because he was a gifted learner, after that day, Vance poured himself more and more into his school work and within a matter of years graduated high school. Hoping to punish those who committed crimes motivated Vance to pursue a legal degree. It was in college that Vance learned the most about life in general. It was also here in college that Vance grew more and more distant to those around him. Again within a short amount of time Vance graduated college, and pursued a legal career. It was during this time that he made a lot of money and invested what he made in stocks and exchanges. He even bought out several law firms and companies, becoming CEO of many a major company, but even after all of this he still wasn't happy. It was mainly because the criminals that he prosecuted would go to jail, but within a matter of months they would be set free. Or what was worse, they would escape time altogether due to some legal loophole. Angered at what America called the legal system Vance went about doing what he could in the hopes of a crime purge.
Secretly hiring the best martial arts teaches from around the globe, Vance trained for several years. As with his academic career, it was only a matter of time before each teacher claimed that Vance, a natural athlete, was their best and foremost student. It was also during this time that Vance learned the ways of broad science and application from a well known scientist. He used what he learned to make and design technological devices and equipment.
Now armed with his extensive scientific and martial arts background, Vance soon hit the streets as the vigilante known as The Raven. He quickly grabbed attention with his court admissible material evidence and notes he would leave on criminals for the police. With each capture he would leave a note saying 'Quoth the Raven, nevermore.'
Vance Langford is a complex man. He is gifted and rich, yet he is never satisfied. Almost always dark and gloomy he looks at almost everything as if it were dark and ominous and can't wait to lash out at the next criminal. This is of course set in contrast to his servant Wilfred Butler, who always reminds Vance of his privileged upbringing as well as other fine points in life. Although Vance is indeed dark in heart at times he never resents to killing even his deadliest of enemies even if they would not spare him. In his mind if he killed, someone else would have to go through the burden he does so now, and he wouldn't want to wish his pain on anyone, even a friend or family member of an enemy. Vance is obsessive at times and tends not to trust anyone, even his fellow super heroes. He keeps tabs on everyone he encounters in case one day they might become enemies as well. Vance Langford is truly a lonely man.

He stole technology from several planetary special forces defense teams as well as government facilities. Although he stole it, it was only a matter of minutes before Shin-Zah-Hahn was surrounded and taken in to custody by the planetary defenders. Before he was brought in however he sent 'The Jewel of Nebula Z22' into a lightspeed canister and sent it to a far away recently charted planet named CR21-313, or Earth as we call it. Enter Samantha Peterson or Sammie, as her friends call her. Sammie is a young single mom who bartends the weekend nights so she can go to college during the week and also watch her newborn during most days. On the days she has classes and on the nights she works, Sammie has her apartment roommate watch her son, for a fee of course. Sammie hasn't been so lucky in love or relationships lately, and her son's father doesn't want anything to do with either of the two. And that is in stark contrast to her latest abusive boyfriend. She only dated him for about a month before he slapped her, and that was the end of that. Although she ended things, he still pursues her in what could be nothing less of a stalkerish way. With all of this stress in her life it seems like someone like her couldn't take any more. Wrong. One quiet night on her way home from the bar Sammie decided to pull over into a nearby park and watch a meteor shower. What she didn't know was that what she thought was a meteor shower was really the canister containing 'The Jewel of Nebula Z22.' As it landed several yards away from her she went over to explore the debris. In it she retrieved a beautiful glowing ring that called out to her. Sammie grabbed it and put it on to remind her that in this world there are somethings that are beautiful. That was a couple weeks ago, and since that night she put the ring on, she has noticed that she has become more athletic as well as more insightful. Something weird is going on, and although Sammie doesn't quiet know what it is, she likes it and refuses to take off her ring.

Maybe it was his advanced genetic cloning experiments, or maybe when he designed and utilized a machine that controlled the brain waves of cercopithecoid and platyrrhine (monkeys) in order to help him in his experiments. Would that really be considered crazy or controversial? Well if you think so, it shouldn't. Ever seen a chimp in a lab coat, wearing glasses, performing rocket science or reverse engineering mutagenic DNA? No? Well then maybe you haven't seen Dr. Edward Kelley in his laboratory. Things of this nature really isn't mad, after all it will become a thing of the past shortly. Science has always been an evolving art form which has constantly pushed unexplored boundaries after all, right? Well whatever it was that Dr. Kelley concerned himself with never went beyond the notice of Norman Osborn. It was only a mater of time before Dr. Kelley was hired by Oscorp. As an Oscorp employee Dr. Kelley developed and conducted many experiments with a virtually endless bank account. This allowed the mad scientist to go wild, and he developed many new inventions which continued to help Oscorp thrive against its major competitor, Stark Enterprises. Among his many advancements were the Hyperbolic Meta-DNA Genesis Field as well as a Top Secret super-weapon prototype labeled “Super X-tractor 25.” When Norman Osborn stated that he was going to serve as the director of H.A.M.M.E.R., and said he was going to be cutting back on some funding, projects and personnel, Dr. Kelley felt he would make the cut. After all he was the one that kept Oscorp from going under for several years now. He was wrong however in the end. As soon as Norman Osborn retrieved Tony Stark's Iron Man battled armor he brought it to Dr. Kelley, who reverse engineered it so that Oscorp could develop a similar power armor. It wasn't too long after that, that Norman Osborn personally modified the armor to his specifications and then fired Dr. Kelley, on several trumped up charges. The real problem was that now that Oscorp was going public, Dr. Kelley was just “too much of a public liability.” Soon Dr. Kelley faced charges against humanity as well as several other plausible horrendous allegations. Although brought to court to face the charges several times, mysteriously each judge chosen to oversee his trial mysteriously dies just before the trail begins. Although the deaths range from suicide to homicide, Dr. Kelley has yet to be tied to one death. It is because of this, that although there is overwhelming evidence to convict him, no one has dared to set a trial date as of late. Giving Dr. Kelley enough time complete a task that has been on his heart since his last day at Oscorp, revenge. It's a good thing Dr. Kelley properly prepared himself for this assault. Prior to his firing and arrest, he hid a copy of the armor he reversed engineered. Now broke and seemingly without help he now is on a mission to retrieve his armor prototype, so that he can become the villain aptly named MechAnarchist (Mechanical-Anarchist together) so that he can finally achieve his self-righteous vindication.

His mother never really told him stories and gave him roundabout answers when he asked her about him. The truth is his father was a demon. Krystal Sammerson (Keighn’s mother) was secretly a mutant with limited summoning powers. After years and years of trying to conceive a child with various boyfriends she found out that she was infertile. Feeling that she had no other choice she summoned a demon and bargained with him in order for her to give birth to a child. The demon agreed, in exchange for a curse. Ten months later Keighn Sammerson was born. Other than not having a father around Keighn lived what he felt was a normal childhood. He never knew of his mother’s powers until the day his manifested. He was at a neighborhood pickup basketball game, when an argument broke out and turned to blood. Feeling a rage he never felt before he erupted in a blaze of fire while his skin melted away to reveal a flaming skeleton-like demon. That is the last he knew before he awoke several hours later. When he came to, Keighn was in his home watching a breaking news report. Those who he had been playing basketball with were being loaded up into psychiatric tucks to be treated for severe mental trauma. Keighn turned to see his mother crying and leaning up against the hallway wall with several others beside her. They each in turn introduced themselves as professors. That was now three years ago, and that was the day Keighn’s life completely changed. That day he learned about his mother’s secret powers as well as the truth about his father. Keighn also learned about his origin as well as the curse he inherited from his parents, and that he was what you call a mutant. He was also told that being a mutant comes with responsibilities and that Keighn needed help in order to control his powers so that something like this would never happened again. With three years of training Keighn has honed his skills and now has a host of powers stemming from what might be considered from another realm. While under his professors’ guidance it has taken Keighn a little time to gain some control over the being he calls “Ghost Rider,” but Keighn still has a ways to go before he can completely control his actions once he transforms into the flaming demon. Once transformed Keighn can manipulate flame and portrays several other radical powers. He can also travel over water and vertically as well while riding summoned mystical vehicles. Within the last couple years Keighn has turned his joy of automobiles into a career and has made quite a name for himself in the world of semi-professional racing. He races cars as well as motorcycles against other drivers whenever he can be it legally, on the track in front of fans, or illegally, on the street against others. He accepts no money from his races and puts it all toward the X-College he attends so that they can continue to support Keighn as well as other mutant teens like him. Keighn is a bright and very outgoing teenager. He loves to be at the center of attention and sometimes does things just for a reaction. Some might call him daring and brash; some might say he is a wise-cracking jokester while others refer to him simply as a ladies’ man. One thing is certain though; Keighn does love the comfort of a woman and will go to great lengths at times in order to be with one. In spite of all of this however he does have a heart of gold, he just chooses not to show it too often.

It has replicated since the time I have brought it home. I will see if I can code the DNA so that I might alter its cell structure, to further stop growth and also so that I might create a specimen myself. ******** Day 6: So far all experiments have been met with mixed successes. I have been able to code and replicate the specimen after examining its DNA. I have yet to alter the effects when bonded to a suitable host. I have used myself as said host in order to keep the sensitive material classified. Mounting aggression and anger are still exhibited in my interaction with others. ******** Day 23: After an encounter last week, some of my blood got mixed in with one of the synthesized symbiotes I've been breeding. After observation I noticed that the reaction was favorable toward my overall objective. Today I finally finished splicing some of my own DNA with that of the synthetic specimen and it has reacted according to my calculations. It seems that once it consumes a certain amount of host DNA it takes on the characteristics of both entities, as if it's its own creature, although still symbiotic in nature.
