OOC: Horror one shot, here's the start
Darkness falls across the land The midnight hour is close at hand
Shadows move through the night To fill your souls with fright
Ghouls and Ghosts move through the streets with little fear For this is their night, that is clear
The graveyard comes to life with just a glance As the dead return for one last dance
And the monsters long since past Are given one final chance
For this is a night like no other This night of horror and gathering darkness
As night goes on And all light is gone
Evil rules and laughter reigns On this night of Halloween
And the cry of wolves and other creatures of the night drives man insane with fright
And as his mind begins to snap, He adds his laughter to this horrifying band
Darkness reigns as the world still turns And all that once was begins to burn
But then dawn arrives and it alls ends And the world returns to normal trends
Shadows dissipate in the cool morning light And the blight of the night returns to the corners of the Earth
And the ghouls and ghosts are hung up until the next time, The next night of Halloween, when it shall all return
On this night of Halloween.
******************************************************* Halloween it's not, but that doesn't matter. Not for three innocent people it doesn't. A night of absolute fear, death and destruction awaits. Three seperate people, unaware of the others, are driving down a deserted road. A broken, decrepit mansion lies of to the side, surrounded by a tall iron fence. It appears abandoned, roof barely on, and it looks ready to fall apart. Abigail Lory is driving along, exploring some backroads, and just relaxing. As a pre med student, that doesn't happen very often. He takes his eyes off the road, transfixed by the old house. Then, her attention is driven back to the road when she notices a young girl standing in the road, eyes staring blankly ahead. You swerve to avoid slamming into her, and instead slamm into Dwayne's car, and drive both off the road. Both are unhurt by the accident, but when you look over for the girl, she's gone!

Dwayne Hopkins
-Jesus Christ...
The tall guy quickly gets out of his car, a bit shaken, but seemingly whole. It's not the first time he's had a car accident, but it's always quite a bad experience. He walks to the other car's door and looks in the window:
-Hey, you alright?! Anything broken?
Then he looks around, searching for the girl... who simply isn't there.
-...where the heck did she go? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 3/3 E: 12/12

Abigail Lory:
And everything had been going SO well! Against her better judgment, Abigail had decided to take a well-earned break from her studies to simply enjoy some quality-time on the road. And she had been enjoying every moment of it. But as soon as she spotted that poor child standing in the middle of the road, Abigail had slammed on the breaks and swerved to avoid running the little girl down! Unfortunately, she had inadvertently side-swiped another driver in the process. It was a terrible stroke of luck, considering there were no other cars around for miles... but she had still managed to smash her way straight into this one!
"I... I'm fine, I think," Abigail still sounded a bit shell-shocked, as Dwayne came to check on her after their collision, "But... that girl! Is she OK? What was a kid like that even doing out here, all by herself? Hey... where'd she go?"
She glanced around, but there was no sign of the child. Abigail was confused, but figured that the girl probably got scared after seeing the crash. The child must have run away. Abigail just hoped the kid hadn't run over to that deserted house overlooking the road. Even from a distance, she could tell that it would only take a stiff breeze to knock that ramshackle building to the ground. It wasn't a safe place for a child at all.
"Listen, I'm SO sorry about this," an apologetic Abigail turned to the other driver, "I just... I saw that girl come out of nowhere, and I thought... well, I had to swerve. But listen... you're not hurt or anything are you? Here, let me check you out... uh... I mean, check you for injuries."
Abigail silently cursed herself for that little slip of the tongue. As unfortunate as the circumstances might be, this was probably the first time that she had managed to strike-up any kind of one-on-one conversation with a guy in... well, longer than she cared to remember, to be honest. But as soon as that thought crossed her mind, she felt her mouth start to go dry and the familiar nervousness take hold. Abigail tried to compose herself, hoping that the boy would just put it all down to being on-edge after the crash, and checked that he wasn't suffering from any undue injuries caused by the collision.

Abigail checks over Dwayne, and he's not injured at all. Looking around, the girl is nowhere to be seen. Not only that, but there's no place she could run to without you seeing her. You have a clear line of sight down the road, the hill surrounding the house is clear of trees, and the road is on a steep incline, so she couldn't go over the hill. As you look around, two more cars come around the road, but they avoid crashing. In one is Mitch, in the other is Cory. They come to a safe stop, and look over at you.

Cory sighs seeing the accident and turns off his car, he takes the keys and places them in his pocket as he opens the door. He looks over and calls out. Do you two need any assistance? I've got a cell phone and a first aid kit if either is needed...otherwise I'm sure I can probably give at least one of you a lift into town.
He says before opening the back door and pulling out a duffle bag with a baseball bat sticking out of the zipper. He looks around and makes his way over to the pair and waits for an answer.

3 stones into Social Skills, to ask the either of them are alright.

Dwayne HopkinsDwayne mentally discarded the disappearing girl as a "must have been our imagination". After Abigail was done 'checking him out', Dwayne answered quickly both hers and Cory's questions: -I guess I'm okay. Not sure if I can say that about my car, however... Important thing's that we're alive and well, though. I'll try to start the car again... if it's broken, I'd gladly take either the call or the ride back into town. Just gimme a few seconds...He sat back in his car and tried to start the engine. At the same time, he checked to see if his box of beer that was previously on the back seat was still in one piece... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 3/3 E: 12/12 2 stones into Intelligence to try to restart the car's engine, and also to check if the beer's okay! Abigail Lory:
After checking the other driver and making sure that he wasn't hurt, Abigail turned her attention to the mystery of the disappearing girl. She was sure that someone had been there. The child had been right in the middle of the road... that's why she had been forced to swerve! But now, there was no sign of her. Abigail looked around at anywhere the girl could possibly have run-off to, but the surrounding area was too clear for her to have vanished completely.
"I think we're both OK, luckily," she explained to Cory when he emerged from his vehicle, "But... there was a little girl. I'm sure of it. She was standing in the middle of the road, but now..."
Abigail trailed-off, even as she looked around again to try and figure out where the girl could have gone. She simply shrugged with another boy stepped out of another car and asked where they were. Truthfully, she wasn't entirely sure herself. The only distinguishing feature was that old house, but Abigail doubted anyone would be home that they could ask for directions.

Last panel, I wanted Abbie to check Dwayne's car to see how bad the damage was. If she wasn't able to do that last time, I'll spend the same stones into Vehicles this panel, plus...
General Knowledge 2: *Try to think of logical possibilites where the girl might have gone.

Cory gave a smile of relief briefly hearing that neither of them were injured before setting his duffle bag on the ground next to him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell-phone, he looked at it as he tried to determine whether or not he had a signal at all here.

-Not sure, man, he answers Mitch. I was going to a party, but I kinda lost my way. Think I've turned on the wrong street or something. But I don't think I've been on this road before.

The damage to the cars looks bad. Odds are, neither are going to be moving anywhere anytime soon. The beer, however, is fine. The cell phone doesn't work, at all. No signal, the phone won't even turn on. That's out. Then, you here a laugh, a child's laugh, coming from.... somewhere. A small, creepy laugh. It seems to be coming from the house....

Cory closes the phone shrugging as he places it back in his pocket. "No luck with the phone I got no signal out here, sorry about..." He turns around looking for the source of the laughter and after narrowing it down to the house he leans over to grab his bag once more. "...perhaps whoever lives in that house can tell us something. If nothing else it would seem like the child you spoke of is there."

Abigail Lory:
Abigail winced as she saw the state of the cars. Unfortunately, the damage was too severe to hope for any kind of effective repair out here on the road. And since they seemed unable to get any kind of phone signal in this remote area, there was no chance of calling for help.
Unfortunately, there were other problems than the cars that still needed to be addressed... namely, the whereabouts of that missing girl. Abigail wasn't about to leave a small child alone in the middle-of-nowhere, not until she knew she was safe. When she heard the laughing, her first thought was that it was the girl. But when she looked around, there was still nobody in sight. This was definitely starting to feel a little bit odd.
"Uh, I guess you could be right," she anxiously replied to Cory, while staring at the old house, "I wouldn't expect anyone to live in a run-down place like that, though. But the little girl must have run up there, I guess?"
Abigail wasn't sure HOW the girl could possibly have run all the way to that house without being spotted by either herself or Dwayne. But really... what other logical explanation could there be?

"Holy crap, what was that?" He looks around then pulls his computer out of his backpack and opens up his audio editing software and hit's record, "If it happens again I can analyze it. I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

-Well, that girl can't just stay in there, now can she? This place is nothin' but ruins.
Dwayne gets out of his car, box of beer in hand.
-Can't let this go to waste... I might not get to that party, but that's no reason not to party. Look, how 'bout watching the cars and the beer, I'll go and ask the girl if she wants to come with us. There's no other car around, so I think she's alone, playing hide and seek or something. I used to do that back at home when I was a kid.
That being said, he starts walking towards the house, beer in hand. He took the top off and drank a sip.
-Hi kid, you in there? No need to be afraid, everyone's okay. It's just the cars who're broken. No reason to be scared, see? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 3/3 E: 12/12
