Mutant (-3w)
DESCRIPTION
Thaddeus Miller's origin is actually a world away. In another universe, there were no mutants... until World War 3. The United States was fragmented, after the UN dropped the nukes there. A generation later, the war was over, but a strange phenomenon was the result; a number of children were born with the ability to see the past; and some, to see the future. Thaddeus, along with his brother, were the latter.
While his brother remained in the Federation of United States, Thaddeus made his way to the Free States and there lived out a rather non-directional life. One day, he realized his ability to see the future had become... blocked. Past a certain point, all he could see was a bright light, then nothing. There was really nothing for him to do, as he had no clue what it was... and then it happened. Thad was walking down a city street one night, when he was suddenly just engulfed in light....
When he awoke, Thaddeus couldn't tell where he was. His power had returned, but it was showing strange things... things that couldn't be. Thad soon discovered he had, through someone's experiment gone awry, been transported to a different dimension... one where heros fought villains, and where mutants were abundant and varied--and hated. Eventually Thad began building a new life for himself, as an "investigative negotiator", and a rich one at that (thanks to his abilities.) He works to help others--for a fee--while still hoping to find a way home.
Thaddeus' power isn't psychic in nature... in his universe, it had already been determined that those with precognitive abilities had them because they could sense tachyons, theoretical particles which traveled back in time. Furthermore, Thaddeus' power is somewhat restrictive--what he sees MUST happen, and nothing can change it. Thad, however, fudges this technicality by simply limiting his view... he'll observe a future attack, but not its outcome. This frees him to do whatever is necessary to decide the outcome, without having it written in stone via observation. He has learned to use his power--within a short window of time--to great effect.
Thad has grown out of his more reckless, carefree and thrill-seeking stage. While still retaining his analytical, forthright nature, and the solid confidence his power gives him, he is also much more mature and serious-minded than he was when he first arrived in the Marvel Universe.
