Schultz looks at you... "I only know her by Calypso.... She's some sort of voodoo queen or whatever... I went to her on a tip that she was passing out some sort of luck charms... I don't know what she did, or gave me, or whatever... But I was feeling high as a kite for 2 whole days."

Edgeworth
-Very intersting... mister Schultz.
Edgeworth had a hunch the criminal was saying the truth. Which only seemed to confirm somewhat more what he was suspecting. All the more satisfying to hear. The prosecutor searched his notes, and grabbed the very same photos he had shown his first witness... that of the Shocker's suit and his Shocker Gauntlets.
-Mister Schultz... I have another question. Earlier in this trial, our first witness, Thomas Walter, established that you were wearing this costume, and those gauntlets, on the scene of the crime, a fact confirmed, like we saw earlier, by the security cameras. My question is simply... Mister Schultz, where did you get that suit and those gauntlets?
As he asked this question, Edgeworth was completely stone-faced and unblinking. What was he getting at with this sudden question?

"I made them myself, like like I made almost every other version before it." Herman said.

Edgeworth
-OBJECTION!!
The prosecutor smirked in triumph.
-A very good answer, mister Schultz. (He spoke a little louder then:) ... And, your honor, a very blatant contradiction of facts!! Or more precisely, a blatant contradiction of a very specific fact, and the defense's last remaining uncontested part of their opening statement.
Edgeworth put both hands on his desk in a very determined way.
-If this court would please take a look at the court record, it will notice a certain statement of the defense's. I quote: "Mr. Schultz was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and he simply snapped under the presure of not being able to make enough money using legit work to even afford the rent in some of the worst apartments a New York slumlord can possibly create."
He paused, looked at everyone present quickly, ending with the judge.
-Even more precisely... the "not being able to make enough money using legit work" part. The defendant stated that he made the Shocker Gauntlets, and the Shocker Suit himself, and every other version before it. Such an invention, even an older version of it, would have been in great demand in various domains of work, such as demolition, law enforcement, even S.H.I.E.L.D...
He slammed both hands on the desk, again, not too loudly, but enough to put some emphasis on his words, then he pointed at Schultz:
-The defendant could have easily made more money than most people by simply selling his inventions or his blueprints to lawful organizations! ... Therefore! The defense's opening statement does not hold... in its entirety!
He paused, shook his head, and smiled:
-...Of course, this leads us into an interesting situation, your honor. I suppose you understand already what I mean by this? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15
6 stones into Social Skills (Persuade, Prosecutor, Objection!!) plus 2 from Presence, to defeat the last part of the defense's position.
Also raising a doubt in the judge's mind as to where I'm going with that. ^_^

"Maybe I do, and maybe I don't." The Judge says. "But please enlighten the rest of us."

Edgeworth
The prosecutor nodded, and bowed slightly.
-Yes, your honor. Simply put, the prosecution proved that the defense's statement did not hold... but it also raised some possibly important questions, making its own statement somewhat lacking. A mere glance at the facts indicates the possiblity that the defendant, Herman Schultz, may not be the sole person responsible or at the very least, involved, in this crime. It is the prosecution's belief, your honor, that the woman mentionned by the defendant in his testimony, Calypso, might be important to this case. Detective Gumshoe did told this court about the defendant's unusual behavior during the crime, despite all the drug tests turning up negative... As if something was somehow manipulating his actions.
He raised and shook his index finger as he explained:
-My point is, some parts of this mystery remain unexplained and unsolved. Therefore, the full truth remains to be found, and with what we have right now as proof, the defendant cannot be found 100% guilty. And I will not accept anything short of perfect as a verdict.
He shrugged, then smiled:
-Your honor, in light of this day's events, the prosecution humbly suggest that the defense modify its plea to a more accurate one, and in turn, the prosecution wishes to do the same. Additionally, I would like to request a recess for both sides to think things through, as well as for me to investigate the missing parts of this case. A day or two, if possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15
6 stones into Social Skills (Persuade, Prosecutor, Gentleman) plus 2 from Presence, to convince the Judge that so far, the defendant can't be pronounced innocent... nor completely guilty, and therefore to ask for a recess so both the defense and the prosecution to modify their position regarding the case, and for me to investigate the case further.
End E: 9/15 Defense: 1 (Reflexive Dodge) Mental Defense: 8 (6 Intelligence, 2 Unshakable) Fear Defense +2

The Judge looks at you for a moment contemplating, then says. "Motion granted, This court shall reconvine in two days at 11:00 AM. I declare a recess." He says banging his gavel.

Edgeworth
The prosecutor bowed respectfully, then headed towards the exit of the Court, to wait for Amanda Hugginkins. And quite probably, to meet with Gumshoe, who was usually waiting for him outside as soon as he was done with his testimony.

You find Gumshoe right outside. "What can I do for you, Miles?" He asks.

Edgeworth
The prosecutor frowned; he never liked unnecessary familiarity.
-"Mister Edgeworth", if you please, detective Gumshoe. We have to investigate further regarding this case, and I will need your assistance on the case... Something tells me this is far from over. However, first, we wait here for miss Hugginkins, I must have a word with her.

"You don't have to wait long as Amanda clumisy walks out. Her outfit is prim and proper, save for that the heels on her shoes are about 2 inches too high for a woman her heigth and build. (That's not relevent to the plot, I just needed some filler.)
"What's your game Edgeworth? You could have put my client away right then, and there." She asks.

Edgeworth
The prosecutor nods, smiling.
-True, miss Hugginkins, true. I could have, and most prosecutors would probably have done so. Years ago, I would have myself. But victory is not what I'm after. In fact, I couldn't care less about that.
He folded his arms, thinking back to that case, years ago; when he postponed his otherwise easily acquired victory against Phoenix Wright in the Matt Engarde trial in order to buy time to save Wright's friend's life. He too had seemed as surprised and suspicious as this woman was now.
-My goal... is to find the truth. It doesn't matter how many crimes your client has already committed in the past, this trial is about that very specific bank heist. So even if all evidence seems against him, even if his past would indicate that it is clearly possible, and even probable, that he is the guilty party in this case... if stating "Herman Schultz is the one and only person responsible for this crime" is not the complete truth, we would have failed in our duty.
He bows politely, then concludes:
-Like I said during the trial, I believe that this... Calypso... lady has something to do with the case, and I will investigate the matter with detective Gumshoe. I will even call you to inform you of my suggestion as for a more accurate plea regarding mister Schultz, once I have the information I need. (He pauses.) I will find the truth... for it is all that matters.

Edgeworth-Many thanks, miss Hugginkins. Until next time.Edgeworth bowed politely, then turned to Gumshoe, gesturing him to follow him as he headed towards the exit and the parking. -Very well... there is much to do, and little time to do it, detective. We need what information we can get about this "Calypso", call the District with your phone, see what they know. Meanwhile, let's get to my car. I'll drive...As they reached his car, he stated, determined: -...as before anything else, we must get another look at the crime scene.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Start H: 2/2 E: 15/15 I'll put 2 stones in Vehicle Operations (Light vehicles) to drive us back to the crime scene for as long as it takes, while Gumshoe makes the call. Gumshoe makes the call as you are on you way to the crime scene. "Calypso... name unknown... Haitian... Known Voodoo magic user... Former lover and partner of Sergei Kravenoff aka Kraven the Hunter."
You arrive at the crime scene... it's been several days however from arrest to trial so a rebuilding effort is already partially underway.
