"It does sound too good, but we are running short on choices so..." Ishbel sighed, agreeing with Duncan but still seeing that there was no harm on taking a look, at least considering the desperate position they were into. "So the bike thing wasn't just-" Ishbel was surprised that it wasn't just a lie. "I'll be here, I'll be fine" she said to Duncan, trying to calm him so he focused on that thing so they could move on. Logan better be civil with her brother, or things would go south fast, but she found no urge to threaten him like that. Sam's sudden reserved and courteous behavior surprised Ishbel, as the energetic girl was respectful all of a sudden, when not even Ishbel threats did much beforehand. "You can stay" Ishbel stated, seeing Duncan and Logan go, silent for a few moments, collecting her thoughts. "All what you said is true?" she wanted to confirm without Logan around, though she already assumed the answer wouldn't change. "Having control over the power must feel amazing, I guess you have your own stories of... accidents" she said, followed by the briefest of pauses. "Not that I'm asking, we don't know each other, it was just... I don't know" Ishbel mumbled, falling into silence again. "Thanks for asking if you could stay, you two stepping in like that had me..." Ishbel sighed, raising her pill bottle and shaking it, the medicine rattling inside the plastic recipient. "It could have been a disaster" she added.

"Yeah.." Duncan agreed.
"Nope. We biked 3 hours to get here, and Logan doesn't treat his bike nice apparently."
"It's fine, it's minor like I said. Just don't want to be stranded on the road."
"Well, let's go take a look, then." Duncan says.
"Yep. I'm probably underselling it, actually."
"Hmm...yeah. We all have our stories. I've heard a few of them from some of the older students. The newer students don't really like talking about it, but I can't blame them. Controlling your powers, though, is really nice. Definitely better than them controlling you."
"Oh. Yeah..I just..kinda sensed you were getting to a boiling point. And then you took..one of those.." She said looking at the bottle. "Just wanted to make you feel comfortable. Don't want you to feel threatened, even though we did barge in here. Sorry, my idea.." She apologized. "Umm..if ever you're feeling too upset, or need to calm down, maybe I can give ya a quick pat, and calm ya down a bit? Just an offer, with your permission of course. I only did it to your brother because I was absorbing his anxiety even from outside, and knew he'd flip out if I didn't. You weren't as nervous as he was, probably due to the meds, but if you feel it coming up, I can try and..." She said showing her pointer finger. "Yeah, just let me know. Umm...so yeah. Did you have any specific questions regarding the school? I've only been there for maybe two months, but I can tell you it's a lot better than where I was before." She asked.
---
OOC: Come up with whatever questions ya have, and I'll answer them in the next post. Something to note while she's answering, Ishbel will notice Sam is trying her best to be non-threatening and sincere. Ishbel won't notice any hostility or ulterior motives.)
---
After a small time, Duncan came back into the house.
"Well, Logan was right in saying it was an easy fix. The only problem is I don't have the specific part here at the house. Everything's at the shop. So he and I are gonna head to the shop real quick to get it done. Should literally only take half an hour at most." Duncan reported to Ishbel. "So uh I'll be back soon. Before I go though." He said looking to Sam, and then Ishbel. "Everything good here?" He asked.

Ishbel felt like Sam was being sincere, she wasn't afraid to admit where she may have gone wrong, and also explained her reasoning for her to do what she did. It was clear that she was... open to help, with her gifts or without, so Ishbel started to feel better about her. She struggled making friends with her constant school changes, and sometimes even the ones she helped reeled a bit back before her displays of violence. Ishbel just wanted to do the right thing, she just didn't have as many qualms as others about the means to do that, but she was less ruthless than many people thought, just brash and... well, hotheaded, figuratively and now literally.
"I do... fire stuff" Ishbel shrugged, it was quite obvious. "And losing control would mean injury, destruction..." she looked down.
"Death" admitted on a whisper. "But I'm fine for now, thanks, I'll warn you if I get... worse" Ishbel added, when Sam offered to help.
"So I need to get better, I have to, because the alternative is chugging these until they stop working and in the meantime like a drugged zombie" Ishbel blurted, getting a hint riled up judging by the flame shapes in her hair, but she soon calmed down. "So I'm more than willing to give that place a chance but..." she sighed.
"Our father was recently killed, Duncan is all I have now and I'm all he has left" Ishbel said. "Is the place far? Can he be there with me if he wants? Or come visit?" Ishbel didn't quite remember that Sam said something about biking 3 hours there, but that could mean anything as she didn't know if they had come straight from that place or not. "I mean, he... he'll want to keep our father's shop, I know him, but I want to keep the options open just in case. I'm not ditching him and what we have here just all of a sudden" she said.
For Ishbel it was the balance between being in a place where she could get the help she needed, and perhaps help others too as they explained, but without casting her family aside or forcing Duncan to leave his calling to be with her.
"I'm inclined to believe you, so that's what worries me, the logistics of being away from my home and my family without dragging Duncan away from where he probably wants to be" she summed up, wondering what Sam had to say about that.
Duncan and Logan came back, needing a few minutes more to head to the shop and back, so Sam and her got to hang out a bit more. "Everything good, Dunn. We're talking" Ishbel showed a tiny smile, a far call from her broad, open smiles of old, but it was what she could muster with the situation and the medication.

Duncan nodded, and walked out to go to the shop. Now was the time to ask anything of Sam if Ishbel had any question. Instead, she expressed herself a little before asking anything. Sam took a seat to hear her out.
"You might be shocked on how much you DONT stand out at the academy, then. There's a bunch of us who have stories like that where our powers sort of made us out to be destructive monsters. ..like, a bunch of us. no joke." She said very relaxed.
Ishbel then expressed how she felt, but it all came down to a question:
"North Salmen New York. About 3 hours drive from here. Nothing TOO far." She said. "He can visit you, or you can visit him. Either works. The professor doesn't want to split people and their families apart. The only thing is they have to live in the mansion with us so that if something does happen, they can help as best as they can." She said jumping up to her feet.
"I have a question for you. You've been questioning us since we got here, which is understandable. But, I do need to know some things about you before we take you in." She stated. "This isn't, like, official or whatever, and the professor or Logan know I'm asking this. But...I just need to be sure." She nodded. "You don't seem like it, but I just have to ask to be sure. You don't like to hurt people or anything, do you?" She asked. "We had this student come in with us, and he always talked about getting his family back for what they did to him. We all tried to help him get passed it, but he just couldn't let it go. So...he learned how to control his powers just enough where he was comfortable, and he left the academy. A few days later he was arrested for murdering his family. He died in prison the next day." she said regretfully. "He...broke a few hearts at the academy. He was a really nice guy. He just couldn't let go of his hatred for his family. So..." She looked at Ishbel. "I don't want to be responsible for recruiting someone who's going to be someone like that.." She stated. The way she was talking was so opposite from how she was previously. She was bouncy and energetic. Now she seemed calmed down to an excessive state.
"You don't seem that way so far. I just wanted to make sure you don't have anyone you hate, or want to hurt or anything.." She said staring at her. "I, uhh..just don't want to lose another friend." She said, the statement SOUNDING like a sad one, but it came off mostly cold as she wasn't being empathetic, but, again, calm.

"A bunch of you..." Ishbel echoed pensive, rummaging the notion around. If the place could keep, teach and sustain several people with troubles similar to hers... maybe there wasn't just hope, maybe it also meant feeling less alone. "So visits are fine, he can visit the... mansion" the idea still felt weird to think about. "Or the other way around, I know how to drive of course, I don't have a car though" Ishbel commented, not really thinking about those kinds of details at the moment, mostly making idle talk. "Oh, questions..." Ishbel was a bit surprised, she didn't think about that. Could the place reject her even before she had decided to get in? Her hair flickered visibly, nervous. She shifted a bit on her chair as Sam talked, but in the end it seemed a question that was more than reasonable. Ishbel raised one hand, thinking for a moment to pat Sam's shoulder, but she returned it to her lap, unsure. "I'm sorry you had to go through that" she said sincerely, despite the medication it sounded heartfelt. "No, I don't want to hurt people. I have been kicked from several schools for fights, but I was always defending kids from bullies and the like. Well, once I punched an abusive teacher too" Ishbel admitted. "It's not like I'm proud of it... but I'm not ashamed either, I think" she tilted her head, reaching for how she felt about things was difficult through the fog the meds caused. "But no, I don't have a grudge or something, I accidentally killed the man who murdered my father seconds after he did so, when my powers... woke up or something" Ishbel admitted. "Since then I've been medicated on and off to keep the fire on check and... it's been hard to process it all when I feel so numb because otherwise I could lose control" she continued, sharing what she could ascertain about herself. "But no, there are no pending revenges, all I want is to control this thing so I don't hurt anyone else" she sighed. Ishbel's hair was visibly making flames, like a small camping fire.

A few minutes went by as Ishbel and Sam were talking to each other, maybe 20 or so. They bounced off of each other softly slowly understanding one another a little more. Sam even had her own question to ask. One not from the academy, but just one for herself.
While Ishbel was explaining herself, Sam received a few messages on her phone, and she checked them while listening to Ishbel.
"Good. One less thing to worry about. You should be fine, I'm glad. Hmm.." Sam said somewhat distracted. Sam made a pondering face. Ishbel had to wonder what she was pondering so intensely at all of a sudden. While pondering, Ishbel saw Sam stand up. She made eye contact and walked slowly towards Ishbel. "You should probably read this." Sam said holding up her phone, and extending her hand to give it to Ishbel.
Sam was apparently texting Logan.
Logan: Gwt ready t leabe Sam: Learn to text already, old man. You done with your bike? Logan: Something going n over her Sam: What's going on? Logan: Anti mitant rqlly. They mght have fihured out gurly iss a mutant- telling her bro we neeed t go now Logan: Duncan hit by rioter heads bleeeding heqding over grt ready now"
It wouldn't take a genius to figure out Logan's horrible texting to see that an anti-mutant rally was happening in town, and that Duncan was targeted. His head was apparently bleeding. How severe was the situation, Ishbel couldn't tell based on the texts alone. As she read Logan's explanation that an anti-mutant rally had formed, Ishbel could feel her blood boil; the tingling sensation of stress, anxiety, anger was starting to bubble up within her as she pieced together Logan's texts to find out her brother had been attacked. But just as quickly as the strong feelings of emotions were coming up, they had gone all the way down by the time she had read that Duncan's head was bleeding. Something that would usually send her over the edge didn't stress her TOO much. She was still understandably upset and worried, but she had an insanely clear head. She was able to form clear thoughts, think of solutions, think of a potential escape plan from the situation. Something that would usually only been a post-thought after Ishbel went wild, was the current situation she found herself in. Ultimately, if Ishbel had to guess what she was feeling, she'd say she was feeling extremely
"Calm...." Sam whispered behind Ishbel. Ishbel only then noticed that Sam was lightly holding Ishbel's back while she was busy reading the text message. "I don't mean to abuse your trust by doing this, but I'm sure you can agree you NEED to be calm right now.." Sam stated. With a clear and calm mind, even despite the current situation, Ishbel had to agree to that statement. "Don't worry, I'll be paying for this later really bad. For now, grab anything you need from here. We've got to go just in case they're following them." She stated calmly. "Do you understand?" She asked, calm as ever.
----
OOC: So Ishbel has just learned via text that Duncan was attacked by a rioter in an anti-mutant rally, and his head was bleeding. As established this would usually make Ishbel feel some type of way, but she has been overwhelmed by calmness from Sam. So now you will have to roleplay Ishbel in any manner you wish to, but she will need to be calm in her demeanor.

Spending some time talking with someone that understood felt well, even if the topic of conversation wasn't particularly cheery, Ishbel felt a bit better about expressing her feelings in a controlled manner instead of in a literal explosion. "Hmm, what's-" she frowned in confusion when Sam handed her the phone with some poorly scribbled messages. Her eyes went over the text once, twice, as her breath grew agitated, fanning the flames from her head.
Duncan. Hit. Blood.
Ishbel felt losing it all, not only her brother but everything around her as she would inevitably reduce it to ashes. She was about to explode when her hair fell down, barely a sparkle, no flames erupted from her. "How-" she blurted, hearing Sam whisper, feeling her supportive hand on her back. "We all need me to be calm" she agreed with Sam, frowning confused when she mentioned she'd pay for it later, but there was no time for that giving the situation. Moving with clear purpose and a head free of stress, Ishbel packed a couple clothes in a duffel bag, but then added what was really important. The few family pictures they had with their father and mother, the cash Duncan had in his room, and the pills they had left. "Ready" Ishbel returned to Sam quickly, fire in her eyes but contained, restrained. "We need to help them, I won't say it twice" she stated, as calm as she was dangerous.

Calm
Ishbel was able to think clearly, despite everything going on right now, she was able to keep her cool thanks to Sam. Something Sam thought Ishbel would probably hate, maybe in the future she'll feel differently about it, but for now she was calm and collected. Clothes, pictures, cash and pills was what she decided were important to grab. It only took a few minutes to do so with a clear mind, and Ishbel found herself to be well focused during this entire process.
As she stuffed items into the bag, and was grabbing things, she definitely had a clear mind and was calm. But by the time she reached for the pills, she threw them into the bag in a less calm manner. Her breathing was getting a tiny big harder, and her heart started racing a little faster than her former calm self.
"Your flame is going back up." Sam said grabbing Ishbel's arm. Whatever small amount of worry Ishbel was feeling, it again washed away slowly and she was brought back to a calm state. "You've got quite the temper." Sam stated, still very calm herself, but this time a little colder than previously. "You're already starting to steam up, usually it lasts a little longer, but I have to calm you down again. I already had to dump a large amount of calm into you before just to get you to where you are. I'll take a mental note for next time if we need to do this again." She said. Her voice was getting lower and lower in tone.
Outside the girls could hear the sound of a revving vehicle. Ishbel recognized it as Duncan's old beat up, but well maintained car. "Let's go."
Ishbel could see Duncan's car speeding towards the house. Logan was driving, and Duncan was in the back with his shirt on his head.
"Get in." Logan stated.
The two girls got into the backseat of the car where Duncan was sitting. "Take these. I grabbed some of your towels in case your head was bleeding a lot. I couldn't find bandages or anything." Sam said handing Duncan two towels.
"Thanks." Duncan said grabbing a towel and putting it on his head, replacing his blood soaked shirt. "Ish, you good? Nobody came to the house, did they?" He asked.
---
OOC:
Ishbel is still calm. However, due to her challenge of 3w, her temper is really hard to maintain, even for Sam and her powers. She had to refill you with calmness after only one panel. Go ahead and respond calmly as Ishbel would.

"My flame is-" Ishbel was about to protest, then Sam handled her again, managing her levels of anger, anxiety, fear. "Yes, I do. It would be fine if it didn't cause everything to burn" she added when Sam observed the temper she had. With the borrowed calm from Sam's powers, a part of Ishbel wondered for a moment. Would it really be fine even without her powers? That temper caused her to switch schools several times, and got her into trouble. The fault was on those who ignited it, the bullies, the abusers but... was Ishbel's answer always the right one? Or was her anger motivated by something else? "If you can't keep up I've got more pills, though there will be a moment where they will knock me out" Ishbel returned to the present, hearing the familiar sound of Duncan's car. Ishbel was all over her brother once they got into the backseat, she had caused enough injuries and stitches on others and herself to know that he would be mostly fine. "Maybe you'll get a cool scar" she offered with the smallest smile, something the less calm Ishbel would say about her own fighting injuries with a resounding laughter. "I'm fine, Sam got me on check" she nodded. "If they got to the house you'd probably see the fire from a distance" it was a terrifying idea, but Ishbel just said it calm, as a matter of fact. "Be right back" Ishbel said, getting an idea and going through the front seats until she was on the passenger seat. Paying no attention to Logan, she opened the glove compartment and started to rummage through. "You got a mess in here, I'm sure you had some super glue here" she said, looking back at the silence. "What? I have used it more than once when I wanted to hide a small cut to you and dad" she confessed without even blinking, returning to look into the glove box.

"Naw, we'll need you active just in case. But do me a favor and be sure to drag me in case I am the one to knock out." Sam stated. As they drove away from their house, Duncan noticed Ishbel's calmness. Ishbel made the last statement when she saw Duncan was giving her a confused look as to why she wasn't blowing things up right now. That, or he was offended at the scar comment. Ishbel then went to help Duncan with his head wound. "Well, at least you're good. Can't believe they'd attack us like that. Out of nowhere. They were just at the shop in wait for me to get there, and bam. They just went nuts.." He said clearly upset. "They stopped following us." Logan said looking behind in the rearview mirror. Behind, the car group could see four vehicles stopped at their house and were going inside. If they were mutant haters, then no doubt it'd be to try and find Ishbel. "Who the hell do they think they are?! Attacking me is one thing, but going into-...oh no.." Duncan's heart sank as he and Ishbel saw the same thing. The mutant haters had gone ran outside of the house, and it looked like they were carrying things with fire on them. It was clear what their mission was; to burn down their house. "Why-...why would they do something like this?! We were one of them!" Logan stated quiet, although he gave a sympathetic nostril sigh. Without words he conveyed he was used to these types of things. The house that Ishbel called home, the place her father last resided in was going up in flames. It was odd. She only recently thought of the house catching fire, but in those thoughts she'd be the one who caused it. Instead, it was people who really wanted to hurt her for what she was. Surely this would be it, right? The thing to truly push her over the edge. Nobody would survive this car ride, as her powers were bound to go off any second now, right? Those types of thoughts filled her head, negative emotions were surfacing up yet again. A boom was definitely going to happen. ..but even if she wanted to be angry at the situation at hand, overwhelming calm came over her still. "Don't explode.." Sam stated, her voice was as monotone as it probably could be. She was now full palming Ishbel's thigh pumping her with calmness. --- OOC: Still calm. Forced calmness if anything. Ishbel is now watching her (childhood?) home burn down to the ground. And now she's being forced to feel calm about this. This is interesting, because trying to figure out how someone would react to such a tragedy while being forced to stay calm is hard. I'll leave that hard RP to you, Gris

"Why would we need to knock you out?" Ishbel wondered, staring at Sam for a brief moment, before returning her attention to her injured brother. "I can believe they attacked you. There are lots of decent people out there, but a lot of assholes too" Ishbel replied to her brother. "Dunn, how many times I've gotten into a fight to fend off a bully or an abuser? Do you think that was the first time they hurt someone else? No, but many people knew and didn't do a thing, even when they could" she explained. "Do you think one of those bullies got expelled at the same time I was? No, I was the only one getting kicked out because unlike others I didn't hide in the shadows or in the protection of a group of peers or a wealthy parent" she sighed. "We never were one of them, those are a bunch of ignorant, mean, scared people and neither you or I are nothing like-" Ishbel was arguing, when them both fell into silence. Their house was caught aflame. Their home was no more. A hole, a void opened inside Ishbel, that feeling of vertigo as anxiety consumes you, an abyss so deep you could get lost in... but before she could fall, perhaps a defense mechanism, flames started to devour and illuminate that void. Flames of rage. It bubbled from inside, burning fierce and setting her heart aflame when- Nothing. Sam's voice, her hand on Ishbel's leg... it was like she had drained the oxygen out of her fire. It was just gone. Her home was still burning and yet it was almost like a distant memory of something that didn't matter. Ishbel knew it wasn't like that, but knowing it was one thing and feeling it another very different one. Ishbel's hands went to Sam's arm, strongly grasping at her but not to remove her away, but to keep her there. Ishbel's eyes, yellow and black, were the last vestiges of emotion she could muster. Staring, glaring at Sam with them, they hid a plea Ishbel soon put into words. "Don't-" her voice was calm, but it betrayed a struggle. "Don't let me explode" she looked at Duncan, then back at Sam. "He's the only thing I have left" strange words for someone that was saying them so calmly, but not more strange than the tears that escaped her eyes, even if her face was one of calm. Ishbel raised a hand to Sam's face, making sure she looked back at her. "You can't hold if forever, can you?" Ishbel asked. "Logan, sooner or later you'll have to stop somewhere safe. A place where I can let go" she added, leaning on her borrowed calm to think about Sam's words before. It was hard, the image of her house aflame occupied all her mind. "What does it happen to her when she uses her powers so much?" she asked Logan.

"Even still those were school kids. You would expect adults to do better, but it was wild back there.."
As Ishbel and Duncan watched their house go down in flames, they fell silent. Not much could be said in such a moment, only feelings could be felt. In Ishbel's case, calmness was forced into her. But even if calm, one can be sad at something significant like this and display it in a calm manner. That was the case for Ishbel, but not so much the case for Duncan who was looking to be in silent shock. His face showed emotions that Ishbel would be feeling if not for Sam. It was fortunate that Duncan couldn't explode like Ishbel could, though.
"Mhmm.." Sam quietly agreed to Ishbel's statement. She pulled Sam's face close, and saw Sam wasn't looking at her back. She wasn't really looking at anything. Though her eyes were open, they almost seemed lifeless.
"It's fine. We'll make it."
"Fair. I'll find somewhere empty we can stop off when we're a little farther." He said trying to look in the rearview mirror. "How's Sam? She sounds off." He said trying to get a good look at her. "She's losing it... Knock that off!" Logan reached back to slap Sam's hand off of touching Ishbel.
"Whatever emotion she pumps into others, she also feels but with twice the effectiveness. She's been pumping calm into you, so she's gonna be feeling double the amount of calm she's been pumping into you. She's going to put herself in a damn coma if she keeps going." Logan said getting visibly frustrated. "Believe it or not, being TOO calm is a danger." He said speeding up the car.
"It's fine. I'm fine.." Sam stated. So being TOO calm was a danger it seemed. Logan said she'd probably go into a coma if she continued to pump calmness into someone. And since Ishbel had a temper, she had to be refueled more often, so who knows how much calmness Sam was feeling. Looking to Sam, it sort of reminded Ishbel of herself when she was trying to figure out one of the first dose amounts of her drugs and it left her like a zombie for awhile.
After a few minutes of driving, Logan swerved onto a ditch leading to an empty field. Ishbel had seen these dirt fields on her long drives before. She was never sure who owned them, or if they were even owned by anyone. It was just a plot of empty dirt. No homes, livestock or plants to be seen. Just dirt for a few acres.
"I'm not sure how often she's needed to pump you up, but you won't be able to rely on her for the rest of the ride." Logan explained to Ishbel. "Look, sorry for what just happened. It happens way too often for comfort." He sighed. "We'll be taking you to the mansion in New York unless you two wanted to go somewhere else. We've got a couple of hours on the road before we get there." He said looking at Ishbel. "Go on and do your thing." He said nodding to the empty field. "Sam's done for today. So if you ever feel you need to explode again, let me know and I'll pull over." Logan offered.
For the time being, Isbhel was calm, but thinking of what just happened, she could feel the feelings starting to boil up again. If she gave it a few minutes, she'd guess that she'd be ready to feel normal again. Normal being back to her state of unforced feelings.
"So go on ahead and take as long as you need." Logan offered Ishbel. "Duncan. You should be with her too. Just don't get too close when she's gonna explode."
"You sure..?" Duncan asked sounding defeated. Everything he had in life, save his sister, was now gone.
"Yeah. This is something you should both feel out together."

Logan finally revealed what was the danger with Sam's powers, and it was something certainly worrying. The risk, the sacrifices she was ready to make... but Ishbel could hardly be impressed, not even thankful for it. The artificial, foreign feeling of calm was more and more easily detected as something that didn't belong and wouldn't last, not to mention that the main source of disturbance for her was Duncan and his current state. "Dunn, please, come with me" she said when he hesitated about following her, offering a helping hand to her older brother, not only in shock but injured by the attack. It was a matter of minutes before she went off like a bomb, she knew it, and she wanted to make the best of the borrowed clarity she got to ease her brother's pain. Far out on the field, away from Logan and Sam, the siblings could have a moment for themselves. "It hurts so much that it's hard to process" Ishbel stated, it wasn't a question, just an statement of understanding. The place where they were born, the place where they had lived their whole lives, the place where they were supposed to be safe, was gone. "I managed to save the pictures and the money, yes I always knew where you kept it" she shared, vaguely gesturing to the car where her duffel bag was in. "But what's important is that we are alive, you and me, always a team, right Dunn?" she looked for his eyes, wanting to see her brother, her real brother looking back at her, not just that mess he was at the moment. "We'll manage, we always do. This place sounds nice and we'll rebuild our lives from there. Maybe even help in a way that this doesn't happen to nobody- nobody else" Ishbel struggled at the end, tears were starting to flow down her face again. "I'll forever be in your corner, no matter the fight, you know that" she said, raising her fists in a boxing pose. "And I hope that you do the same, I can't do all of that alone-" she choked on her words, starting to softly sob. "Th-this, this I've to do it... by myself" she briefly hugged Duncan before letting go. "Run, Dunn, get back to the car and let- let me-" Ishbel struggled while her brother went back. For a moment there was silence, like all the tension was for nothing. Then a brokenhearted wail came out of the deepest corners of Ishbel's soul, a most inconsolable sorrow and deep feeling of guilt weighted on her. Then, the rage. With a flare, she was covered in fire, raging and all consuming for everything that wasn't her. Screams and insults of anger resounded across the field as she kicked dirt, punched first the air, then the ground as she fell on all fours. With each movement her fiery aura extended, sometimes offering a vision of what her powers could be under control, a focused weapon, but most of the time they were just tongues of uncontrolled fire. It wasn't fair, none of it was. She screamed and burned, she cried and cursed. Ishbel acted and felt crazy, overcome with bottled feelings. In another circumstance there would be a certain joy to it, to be finally able to let go and be herself for the first time since she got her powers, but that notion was no more than a perverse thought. She couldn't be happy with what had happened. Ishbel felt like the universe itself conspired to make her unhappy. She didn't know how long her desperate tantrum, her fiery mourning lasted, the notion of time had disappeared for her. Once she felt... better wasn't the word, mostly just empty and numb, she downed a couple of pills to keep herself like that, at least for the rest of the car trip. "I'm tired, we can go" Ishbel announced, looking groggy by the amount of pills she had ingested in mere hours, sitting close to Duncan, offering him a hand to hold.

"Okay.." He said a little worried, but more so empty inside.
It would take some time for the forced emotion of calm to be washed away from her, but she felt it slowly creeping up. The sadness was taken in calm strides, at least for her. Duncan clearly was not given that forced emotion, so he braved it naturally.
"Take your time. I'll be checkin' on Sam here." Logan nodded, letting the two go to the field.
"It JUST happened. I don't think we're meant to process it so quickly.."
"Us. That's what's important. That's what dad worked so hard to maintain. Everything else can go, but just us is good. It's what's important...still..." He stuttered. "Thanks for grabbing what you could. We won't be able to go back to get anything else.." he said saddened. "Just not sure where to go from here.."
"Mutants, huh?" He silently questioned. "I never had an opinion of them until you became one. Or, rather, showed that you were one. I love YOU, but I never thought about any other mutants. Wasn't my problem. Our problems came first, ya know?" He said looking to Ishbel. "But so far these guys are offering to help. I'm still a little iffy on 'em, but we'll definitely check them out. I don't think we have another choice. But, you and me, yeah, we'll be in each others corners for sure. That's not even an option. You're kind of stupid for even saying it out loud." He laughed.
"Do your thing, sis. I guess you don't have to hold back, so go ahead and explode. Honestly, I sort of wish I could do that right now. Translate these feelings into a literal explosion..man, for the first time I think I'm jealous of you.." He chuckled. "Go on, sis. Let it out.." he said wiping his own tear, taking several steps back.
From the car, Ishbel could see Logan was done tending to Sam, and was now closely watching Ishbel. Watching her about to unleash her full rage. It was the first time she was able to let loose since the day she found out about her powers. At least this time it was on purpose, and she was able to let loose without fear of someone getting hurt. The others were a safe distance from her rage, and after a few bursts of rage, she was able to let go fully knowing she wouldn't hurt anyone here. She had taken some pills a half hour or so ago, so who even knows if this was the extent of her powers. She just knew she was giving it her all in this moment.
After letting it all go, Ishbel returned to the car tired out, and as mellowed out as she could be. As she got back to the car, she noticed Logan put Sam in the front seat, and she was extremely mellowed out. TOO calm, as it was.
In the back seat, Duncan looked to Ishbel in sad awe. "That was impressive...if you can learn to control that, you'd be something else.." He said.
"We'll get you there. Nothing we haven't seen before." Logan said trying to be encouraging, but it may have came off as unimpressed.
...
The drive to New York was a long one. Ishbel even found herself able to drift off here and there due to her exhaustion of the entire day. The thing to wake her up was the fear of burning the car with her hair, so it was just like every other night of sleep for her; She'd get what she could. Soon enough, though, they were driving through a large gate passing a sign.
"Xavier's school for gifted youngsters."
"Woah ho ho. Logan, where'd you pick up this piece of junk?" A woman said flying alongside the car.
"Belongs to the guy in the back. ..Lookin' for the professor."
"Oh..sorry 'bout that. Hey, he's a cutie." the flying woman said still flying along the car, taking a gander at Duncan.
"Beat it, fly girl. Got a job to finish." Logan swatted the girl away while speeding up towards a mansion.
"Hmph. Stick in the mud as always, Logan. Name's Rogue, sug. I'll be seein' ya around!" She said first to Logan, and then giving attention to Duncan before flying off.
Logan pulled up near the entrance of the mansion and parked.
"Rest is up to you." Logan got out of the car speaking to a man in what seems to be a futuristic wheelchair. "I'm taking her to the infirmary and then I'm going to bed." Logan said taking Sam into his arms and walking away. "Left the keys in the car." Logan said walking passed Duncan and Ishbel. He had no other parting words for them.
"Hello there, you two." The wheelchaired man approached Ishbel and Duncan. "It is very nice to meet you, Ishbel. Logan has been in communication with me since you were on the way here."
"Never saw 'em on the phone.." Duncan said confused.
"That's because we were talking with our minds." He stated using mental communication. Hearing a voice in their heads was definitely foreign to both Ishbel and Duncan. "I am so happy to hear you agreed to come to my school here, even if you have reservations about it." The man stated audibly. "Please, if there is anything on your mind that concerns you, I wish to do my best to unburden any questions you may have." he offered to Ishbel and Duncan.

Maybe he was playing tough, maybe he was better than she thought, but either way the Duncan she knew was still there, her brother was still there. Both of them were a mess, but they would be a mess together. Once she was done with the outburst, Ishbel returned to the car like a zombie. Usually Logan's clumsy way of showing support would have earned some rude gesture or words from Ishbel, but she was just so numb, so tired... The drive to New York had a strange dreamlike quality, and not only due to the small bouts of sleep she had, but also due to the numbing effect of the pills and how emotionally spent she was. Nothing seemed real anymore, it was all like out of a bad dream, but she had her brother there anchoring her to reality. Eventually they arrived to the Xavier's school. "So I'm a 'gifted youngster'" Ishbel said, something that in her normal state would have sounded sarcastic, though soon enough her attention went to the flying woman. "You heard that bro? You are the cutie of the family" she said, slightly amused despite it all. "Say thanks from me to Sam when she's better" she commented, as Logan took the young girl to the building, crossing paths with a man in a... floating wheelchair? Well, how did one call a wheelchair without wheels? That wasn't just a chair for sure. "Hello? You're the Xavier from the..." Ishbel wondered, when the not-sound of his voice in her head gave her pause. She was too tired and drugged to freak out, but it was a considerably disturbing experience. "Point made, please don't again?" she said with a slight frown. "It worries me that this is too good to be true, it worries me to be separated from my brother, it worries me that you can't fix me and I'll be a drugged up zombie the rest of my life. How's that for a start?" Ishbel blurted out, never one to keep quiet, even less when pills kept her calm.
