The Riddler strolled casually through the halls of the asylum, tapping his question mark-shaped cane lightly against the floor as he walked. He ignored the chaos that was beginning to ensue all around him, while most of Arkham's crazed inmates started to run riot and indulge their various psychoses and delusions. But he had no interest in that kind of low-end thuggery. He was a criminal genius, after all, not some raving homicidal maniac! During his tenure as a 'guest' of the asylum, his dizzying intellect had already concocted at least a half-dozen brilliant schemes that would take Gotham by storm... not to mention some fiendishly clever puzzles to leave the half-wit authorities utterly baffled in the process. The Riddler could barely contain his glee at the thought of it all, of once again demonstrating his superior mind... and of course, of making a whole bundle of money in the process. But first... there was the intriguing question of exactly why the Joker had staged this little break-out that still needed an answer. From what he was hearing over the asylum's loudspeakers, the Riddler surmised that the Clown Prince of Crime had something big on his deranged mind... and it was hard to resist heading toward the administrative office to find out exactly what it was.
"Riddle me this," he cheerfully remarked to the nearest straight-jacketed lunatic that happened to be passing-by, "Who's more foolish? The fool... or the fool who follows him?"
The inmate just stared blankly at the smirking man in the green question-marked suit and matching derby hat, with a little drool accumulating on his bottom lip. The Riddler rolled his eyes, and continued on his meandering way toward the administrative offices.
"I guess we're about to find out. Let's see what the Joker has in store for our old friend Batman..."

In the asylum library the mountain of a man, Bane, sat behind the librarian's counter his large feet propped up on the counter. Leaning back in a black leather office chair that barely held his bulk, he was reading contently. The thick, jacket cover depicted a scary looking clown with sharp fangs. He was reading It, by Stephen King. Though he rarely read fiction, he had already finished the non fiction books. Besides this King fellow sure could spin a scary tale. The clown in the story reminded Bane a lot of Joker.
At the mere thought of the Clown Prince Bane's hands clenched into powerful fists. Thanks to the Joker's new and improved Venom, the once clean Bane -for the most part- was now re hooked on the juice. It was probably the only thing preventing him from breaking the crazy lunatics neck. that and their shared interests in making Batman's life a living hell. But whereas the Joker did it because Bats was the only person who could keep him on his toes - or so Bane believed- Bane did it because the Batman had taken Bane's worse and eventually came back for more. And though they had gained respect for one another over the years and even worked together on occasion, deep down Bane still enjoyed beating the crap out of him. And unlike most people Bane had fought, Batman usually forced him to put his vast intellect to use in order to defeat him.
Bane looked up toward a nearby table where a few inmates had begun talking a bit too loudly. All it took was one glance form Bane and they quickly hushed and moved away. This was Bane's territory and it wasn't a good idea to get on his bad side.
hearing the Joker's announcement he sighed, finished the paragraph he was reading and marked the page, setting the book on the counter he stood and headed off to find the Joker.

As the criminals one by one made their way toward the administration office, former inmates and security guards fought all over the compound. When the Joker released the criminals so suddenly from their cages, it was nothing short of a massacre. The guards had little to no warning or training on how to handle such a sudden fight. Although heavily armed, within mere minutes the prisoners gained the upper hand from the officers that they encountered. Although only a handful remained, they had managed to secure themselves from the released populace.
Two-Face had decided to meet the Joker at his request after the flip of a coin, while Zsasz had other plans. He had decided to find some knives before making his way toward the infirmary. Poison Ivy on the other hand, piqued by the suddenness of this opportunity, made her way toward the killer clown’s new assembly room.
The Mad Hatter although intrigued as well, carefully made his way around the homicidal criminals toward Joker’s “office,” still wondering if it was a good idea or not. The Riddler, never one to turn down a chance to match wits with someone in order to prove his superiority, too made his way so that he might catch Bat Man off guard and once and for all show Bruce Wane who his intellectual superior was. He made his way through the library just as Bane placed his book down, after carefully marking it.
Soon Two-Face, Poison Ivy, The Mad Hatter, The Riddler and Bane were all assembled before the Joker, who had a live monitor feed behind him. The Joker, sitting in a wheeled computer chair turned to face his associates. Although he had hoped for more of a response, those before him would more than do. Without saying a word, the Joker spun back around to take one last peek at the view screen. It seems that Bat Man had now just exited his Bat Mobile and was fighting off about twenty prison thugs with brutal efficiency.

"Gentlelunatics..." he paused, looking Ivy over lasciviously. "And Lady. It occurs to me that we have each danced individually with The Bat many times. And we have lost. We have worked together... although, some of you chose to keep me out of the Hush affair... but we will discuss that indiscretion another day. But we have always lost.
"Is it that we cannot defeat him? Is he really as invincible as the street rabble believe? Of course not!" Joker laughed... a bit too loudly, and a bit too long... "No, no. It's just that we keep battling him on his own ground. Gotham belongs to The Bat. for now.
"But Arkham? I put it to each of you that Arkham is our true home. It is, to us, what the rest of Gotham is to the Bat-man! I say we make a stand here, now. And once The Bat is dead and gone, then we can go back to killing each other to see who will inherit his kingdom! So get out there. Make friends. Get comfortable. Today, one of us finishes The Bat, once and for all!" Again, that horrible laughter began... and this time, it seemed as if it may not stop. Ever.

Ivy despised Joker, she would be doing Harley a favor by killing him. But she needed him, and the other odious unaware villains right now more then she wanted them dead. Joker was right, they could kill each other after batman was dead.
"Crude, inefficient, and ineffective." Ivy said. "We need a plan to take down the bat. Not wishful hopes on a new battlefield." She said, scorning the Joker.

Zsasz wasn't concerned with what the costumed nemeses of the Batman were doing. He was certain whatever they planned would fail. Either from overcomplexity or simply because they couldn't get along. He however would succeed. His motives were pure.
The infirmary was a perfect place for what he had planned. It was a long room but not overly wide. Beds spaced at even intervals along the side made it seem even more narrow. A gauntlet he would make Batman pursue him through. A gauntlet that would spring closed and crush the Bat just when he thought he had Zsasz trapped.
Most of the ambulatory patients of the infirmary had gotten up and joined the chaos consuming the rest of the Asylum as soon as the joker had made his announcement. Those that remained were either too sick to move or lacked the ability. He tied and gagged those that remained. Counting the nurse and the orderly he had waylaid and knocked unconscious as they fled the infirmary, he had a dozen bags of flesh to work with. More than enough he believed.
Using some high strength fishing line he had secreted in an air vent the last time he gotten out of his cage and pulleys he found in the supply closet that the nurses used to construct suspension devices, he went about creating an intricate web across the room. What seemed like a random pattern was not. Each line either held a knife in tension against one of the invalids throat's or held them and their delicate kidneys off another. Were a line to break or be pulled too tautly it might just as easily kill one of the these helpless folk as it would save them and in some cases would do both; kill one of them and save another. Only he knew which line did what though.
The orderly he stripped naked and tied down to a table near the far end of the room. This man was to be put in danger of both having a blade in his throat and one in his kidney and the lines that triggered these results were the ones closest to the door. Batman would trigger these dangers first and be helpless to save the man. By then though he would be too far through the web to back out without still endangering the others. And while he tried to work his way through the web without triggering another fatal trap Zsasz would strike with impunity.

Hatter smiled and nodded, as he would stand and move to leave the table with his two mind controlled guards at his side, giggeling a bit.
Once he felt he was out of earshot however he would soliquize. " And so the dark knight comes charging headlong down the rabbithole, plunging himself into the pits of madness. Oh how I wonder which of us is the madder? Faced with the combined efforts of all his foes, the bat will fall...
Still. This does not sit well with me. The bat falls, but that jester lives on... As long as I seek to use my derivitive of his Joker gas for my own profit, I will always have to watch my back for his knife.
Curioser and curioser... I find myself drawn between rather to aid the bat, or to oppose him." He mused quietly, his eyebrows furrowed as his hands covered his mouth, drawn beneath his nose as he was in deep thought.
"Mmmm perhaps I can do both... Yeesss.. Hehe... Yes... Hahaha. I will oppose the joker. We will turn the entire island into a game of chess, and I will use the bat as my own knight to topple the clown king. If he falls, so be it, but I can try and direct him awau from my own goals first."
With that thought, the Mad Hatter would be off, chorteling giddily, his mind still addled from the effects of his own wonderland drug. Armed with his mind control chips, he would make his way for the medical facility, to set up his own place to operate... As well as to convert as many staff or patients as he could over to his side through the use of implanted chips, or cards. He would raise his own small army in preperation for the nights activities.
As he entered the infirmiry, he would note someone else was apparently already at worked... but would this person be a asset? or a danger?
For now, he would leave the man to his own devices... Not fully aware that Zsaz was the one... if nothing else, it would provide a bit of distraction and a possible tool to use soon.

"Who's there?" Zsasz snapped around and rose from his work. Someone was spying on him. Was it an inmate? One of the guards? It couldn't be the Bat. Not yet anyway. If it were though... Zsasz tightened his grip on his long knife and went to investigate.
"Tetch" he pronounced when he saw who it was. "I hope you don't need medical attention... I'm the only one on duty right now..."

Joker pointed a finger at Ivy, the laughter dying in his throat.
"Poor little petunia, so jealous. How it clouds your judgment. Plans? The Bat knows us like we know ourselves. He'll see any plan we make coming a mile away. Crude is precisely what we need. Wear him down. Batter him, bruise him. And in the end..."
He lazily aimed a pistol at Ivy, and pulled the trigger... producing nothing more than a haze of smoke and a tiny "BANG!" flag... "We send him out with a whimper."
Joker stood up, leaping with grace onto the chair, and then onto the desktop. "You think you know The Bat. None of you know him. Not like I do. If you think you know a better way to take him down... then by all means, go ahead. Use one of your schemes... I'm sure it'll be much more successful than the thousand before."
Joker turned and looked at no one in particular... just an empty space. His eyes sparkled green, and he pranced a few steps closer, until he was leaning out, only the tips of his toes still on the desktop. To the no-one-in-particular, he winked conspiratorially. "Do you know the definition of insanity? Trying the same thing over and over, and expecting different results. And Miss Chlorophyll Implants over there thinks I'm the crazy one! Imagine!"
Turning back to the gathered criminals, as if he'd never stopped talking to them, he jumped to the ground and circled Bane. "You... Killer Croc... no. Clayface? Bizarro? Bat-zarro? Hold on, it'll come to me. Bum? Band? Bane! Back me up here, Bane. You know the Bat's limits. You've pushed him past them before. Tell them. No complex plan. No silly diversions. Bend the Bat until he breaks. Right?"

The view screens showed Bat Man still fending off a batch of inmates, all the while dragging an unconscious Mr. Freeze along the ground. With minimal effort the Bat put down one psychotic inmate after another. It was only a matter of time before he made his way into the asylum itself, and into the Joker’s meeting. The time was now or never. What would the super-villains say to Joker’s proposal?
*MEANWHILE*
Zsasz had just finished his tedious labyrinth of death as he called out to the Mad Hatter.
"Tetch. I hope you don't need medical attention... I'm the only one on duty right now."

Bane watched in mild amusement as the Joker pranced around giving his speech. As much as he disliked the crazy clown, he had to admit the man had a way with words.
Hidden between his massive biceps and broad chest Bane's hand clenched into fists as the Joker tried to get a laugh at his expense.
"Maybe I should use you as an example of how it's done," Bane replied coolly before taking a moment to look each man -and woman- present in the eyes. "Batman. The proverbial thorn in all of our sides. some say he is inhuman, others claim he can't be stopped, hurt or maimed. The man who can never be rattled or shaken. The man who knows no fear."
Bane laughed then. "Batman is very much human. I have personally rattled his cage, shaken his resolve. I have even made him show fear. Best of all I have maimed him, broken his back and his spirit."
"The key isn't brute force. It isn't clever tricks and grand schemes. The key is all of them at once and always when and where he least expects it. You have to hit him from the side, while he is busy looking to the front. hit him with something he never been hit with before. Make him wonder, make him fear, and then break him in two. "
Batman knows we are here and will be expecting us to fight. What we need to do is force him to fight in an area he doesn't want to fight in, under circumstances he doesn't want to be in, attack him in ways he never though possible. Send our goons on the outside to take the screws to those the Batman cares for and pipe in live feeds of their torment for him to watch and listen to, helpless to save them as he battles for his life inside these walls. Taunt him with our words and whispered glimpses forcing him to chase us through ambushes and traps, always staying just out of his grasp.
Use his own weapons against him. He throws his Batarangs at us. We return the favor with razor sharpened Harvey Dent For President buttons. Leave riddles written in blood at every corner. Force him down corridors filled with poisonous vines. Set up tape recorders of The Joker taunting him and rig them to explode when he touches them.
Throughout it all we hit him from the shadows, from behind, from above, below. Hit him hard and fast before disappearing into the shadows. Then when he is finally hanging on to his last shred of sanity we move in for the kill and this time break more that just his back.
Whatever we do we do not kill him. Leaving him alive and crippled having to live the rest of his life knowing that he has finally been bested. That is the ultimate victory."

Ivy nodded, "Sounds like a solid thought process. However, we don't have much time. Where do we want to make him fight?" She asks.

The Riddler had been considering making his exit from this impromptu meeting of some of Gotham's dubious rogue's gallery not long after the Mad Hatter. For all the Joker's pageantry and posturing, his spiel really failed to capture the green-suited criminal's imagination. Killing Batman had not really been on his 'to-do' list, after all. However, before the Riddler could take his leave, he found himself listening to some of the masked freak Bane's ideas. The prospect of breaking the Dark Knight down, both physically and - FAR more importantly - mentally, to leave him an utterly beaten man? Now there was an idea that Edward Nigma could get behind!
"Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we have much time to give Batman the proper welcome that he deserves," the Riddler waved his cane in the direction of the security feed, indicating Batman's rapid progress into the asylum, "Give the man credit where it's due... he works fast. Still, perhaps there's a way we can divert the Caped Crusader's attention elsewhere, to give the rest of us a chance to prepare a fitting end for his legendary career?"
Sliding smoothly into place beside the computer, the Riddler accessed the asylum's security monitors. He wanted to nose around Arkham, all from the relative safety of the administrative offices, and find a suitable candidate to occupy Batman's attention. There were no shortage of psychos and lunatics running around the place now that all of the inmates had been turned loose, so it was just a simple matter of finding somebody that would be able to give Batman something to think about... while the other psychos and lunatics that Edward had currently aligned himself with all made their horrific arrangements for his inevitable defeat!
"I'm not going to have time to pose any brain-teasers at this rate," he grumbled to himself, while still keeping a close eye on Batman as he waded through the simple-minded brutes that tried to take him down.
============================================== Health 3/3. Energy 14/14.
Technology 7: *Take over the asylum's security cameras and use them to get a view of everything going on in Arkham; most importantly keeping tabs on Batman and finding another weirdo villain that's quite close to him that we can use as a quick diversion.

"There is another possibility. We could not set the trap here." She smiled evily. "Anyone know where his bat-cave is? Or some place else where he spends a great deal of his time? If so, then what we do is we leave this place, set up our trap there and then after he has cleared this place of the riff-raff. Then take him down. It will give us more time to set up to break the bat man.
