Devon's father had a gambling addiction and few moral boundaries.
From the moment Devon could walk, his father began his martial arts training... with the intent to one day enter him into a Teen Blood-Sport tournament (it's unclear on if he actually intended his son to win, or to stack the odds and then bet against him as he implied during his parting insults).
Luckily, The Ancient One discovered the youth via a premonition granted by The All Seeing Eye... and spirited him away before the fathers plans could come to fruition.
The Ancient One has taken young Devon as one of his newest apprentices, and can but hope that he got ahold of the boy early enough that he won't fall onto the dark path that his father sought to place him upon.

Thomas and Martha Wayne were walking home from the theater one night with their son, when they were held up at gunpoint by a mugger police would later identify as Joe Chill. After refusing to surrender her prized heirloom pearls, Martha was gunned down. Thomas threw himself in front of Bruce, taking the bullets intended for both of them as Joe Chill fled into the night. Chill was apprehended a few hours later robbing a gas station, and sentenced to five years. Despite evidence of the Wayne murder, he was found innocent of those charges. Bruce was then raised on the Wayne Manor estate, with help from his legally appointed Guardian (the long-time family friend and butler), Alfred Pennyworth. Bruce had very few friends during his childhood, his temper and disposition often landed him in trouble. At age fourteen, he was removed from the Private School System. He achieved his GED, and then vanished from the public eye. What the world assumes, is that Bruce accompanied his Guardian back to England for the remainder of his childhood and college education (in fact, a great many details and events have been paid for to ensure that belief is even proveable). In truth, Bruce embarked upon a journey of a different sort. Under the assumed identity of Victor Gance, he attended College in Metropolis. He achieved multiple degrees by age twenty, and was an acknowledged prodigy in the Math, Science, and Law departments of Metropolis University. In his personal time outside of class, Bruce pursued Black Belts in various Martial Arts as well. At age twenty two, Victor Gance also faded from public view. Bruce, still under his alter-ego Victor, traveled to China next. Pursuing leads about the tenebrous and describedly mythical criminal organization, The League of Shadows. Unable to find a single clue, Victor eventually fell into his old ways. Partying hard, and eventually landing himself in a Chinese Prison. There, his skills in self defense were truly tested like never before. After eventually being 'released' (in truth, evicted) from Prison, he was approached by a recruiter for the League. Bruce/Victor pounced upon this serendipitous lead, and pursued the tests laid before him. He eventually won his way into training, and proved himself the best of the best. Ra's al Ghul himself favoring the young man and taking him under wing. The two became fast friends... and Bruce was almost swayed by the propoganda smoke screen the League boasted. Eventually, Bruce saw through the smoke. He chose his moment, and made his move. He attempted to take the organization down from within. When he left China, Bruce felt that he'd succeeded in dismantling the entire organization... he felt that he was ready at long last to return to his TRUE goal. Gotham. His return to life as the prodigally errant Bruce Wayne was a rough transition, and were it not for Alfred he surely would have failed. Bruces first forrays into vigilante-ism were similarly met with failure after failure. He eventually went under cover as a criminal named Matches Malone, and used this disguise to map out the criminal elements running Gotham. They were many, and they were convoluted. The task became more daunting by the day, and his resolve began to waver. Despair clutched at him... And then it happened. While out for a jog on the grounds, he stumbled upon the Caves. He'd fallen into a shaft once as a child, the fear had traumatized him into a phobia of bats that he'd never really faced or overcome. He wasn't traumatized now. He was afraid, as anyone would be when being swarmed by bats, but it didn't phase him. He'd overcome that fear. Now, it inspired him. Batman was born... Three years of fighting crime have gone by. All of Gotham Fears and Respects the Shadow of the Bat. Relations with the Police are strained, but an ally has been found there. One with sufficient rank and conviction to throw up the call for help when it's needed. Some allies have been lost: Rachel, Harvey. New ones possibly loom on the horizon, in the shape of a recently adopted ward who learned Bruce's secret all too fast. Enemies grow by the day, criminals both mundane and not... It would be some years before that random name would hold any importance at all to Erik Lensher, and still years beyond that until two and two would be put together and inspire him to track down this potentially pivitol chess-piece in his dealings with his once friend and colleague. For his own part, David Charles Haller lead a fairly normal life until he was eleven. It was around then that David's mutagenic abilities manifested. David was plagued with a sensory overload of telpathic origin... unable to shut out the voices. The pain, suffering, and confusion threatened to shatter his young psyche... compacted by blindly lashing out with telekinetic strength sufficient to convince his parents he was literally possessed! They called priests. Some were assaulted with their own guilt and crimes, others still pure of heart found no devil to exorcise. Finally they called in the shirnks... [/SIZE][/u] =================== (BRIEF)BIO/HISTORY:Born into, and raised by, the infamous New Orleans Thieves Guild... Remy never got to know his true parents. His mother died during child birth, and his Father was incarcerated in a Maximum Security Prison (reportedly serving three life sentences with no chance of parole). To say that the entire Guild was, and is, his family is an understatement. Whatever crime Remy's father committed before being locked away apparently won him great respect and renknown. His son, Remy, was treated almost like royalty within the Guild. Remy was taught the basics of pan-handeling at five, and was an accomplished Pick Pocket by age seven. At age eight he was a designated look-out, three such instances resulting in under-age arrests. At age nine, Remy had his first scuffle with an independent pick-pocket. Having failed to adequately account for himself in the fight inspired his 'Family' to teach him the ins and outs of fighting. It was at age eleven, while playing catch with his best friend (Belladonna Boudreaux) that his mutagenic power first manifested in a visible manner. The resultant explosion badly burned Bella, and she might have died had 'The Pale Man' (A creepy Street-Doctor that was well known in the slums) not been walking by at just the right moment. He was able to assist Bella in a timely enough fashion that scarring was minimal... and even explain to Remy what had happened. Another year would pass, and Remy was careful to keep his new ability a secret. It was his edge he'd decided, The thing that would one day help him stand out in the Trials of Succession. Sadly, fate did not agree. A Hiest gone terribly wrong, Remy was forced to use his ability to fend off pursuing police while he and his guild-mates fled a crime scene. They panicked, one even took a shot at him (claiming he looked to be devil-posessed). Remy, with a bullet hole in his arm, ran for his life. He stole a car, and was making for Texas when he was apprehended by the authorities. The State Correctional System saw fit to foster Remy across the country, well beyond the sphere of influence of his 'gang'... giving him the opportunity to turn his life around. The even balance of Motherly Wishes and Fatherly Instigations was shattered the moment he witnessed his fathers death, and subsequent last words ('Run Free, Run Proud, Fear No Evil.'). He turned his back upon his studies, began running with 'bad' circles, and even took up activities that were described as borderline suicidal according to his therapist (most noteably his attempts at Extreme Parkour). Matthew's mother, Grace, despaired of reigning her son in... and only a cruel seeming twist of fate would finally assist her in doing so. Matt, looked the Mugger in the eye and shouted his defiance, daring him to pull the trigger. Startled, the mugger did so. The gun backfired, killing the mugger... the small explosion blinded Matthew. Rehibilitation was a sombering experience. As if losing his sight weren't enough, the crew he'd considered his 'friends' turned their backs on him. Grace mercilessly struck home the importance of studies now, as he'd never again have a shot at any sort of normal life. If he didn't find a way to stand out now... It was a fair seven months before Matt discovered his 'secret'. Blind as he'd become, something had happened to his other senses. He'd read about it somewhere once, that sometimes senses would amplify to off-set the loss or retardation of another... but this, this was extreme. Coping was difficult in and of itself, but eventually after a fair many migraines, Matt adjusted to his new senses. No longer impeded, Matt felt like he could 'SEE' better than he ever had with eyes. His Parkour could be taken to an entirely new level now, and best of all~ He could remember dang near EVERYTHING with picture clarity (Things he detects via his sonar like sight, things he smells, things he hears). This pseudo-sight aside, he'd learned something. Life wasn't about FREE LIVING as he'd thought. He did need to live, BUT, what good was living in a world that was corrupt and evil? His mothers words finally rang true to his ears, finally on the same harmonic. In the ensuing months, Matt has gone from rebellious Daredevil to literal bookworm at school. With his ability to now remember everything he sees/hears/touches/tastes/smells, Matt is freed up from his late-night studies to run the roodtops of his neighborhood. His high grades are sufficient to keep his mother in the dark (her working three jobs helps a lot too). So what does he do? Mostly, he just runs. All evening long, rooft-top to rood-top, extreme feats of Parkour that would dazzle pretty much anyone if he'd left them see~ Inspired by memories of those recent James Bond movies and other Extreme Parkour examples on Youtube that he'd seen before going blind. Free Running makes him feel alive, especially given his impairment. Two weeks into this new regimen of studying followed by Free Running, Matt started to notice something. A growing hollowness within him. It was still exciting to FEEL the wind rushing by, and be maneuvering his body in ways he never would have dreamt possible before... but it was losing it's luster. Despair was grasping for him, and he didn't know how to fend it off. That's when he appeared. He called himself 'Stick'. He was creepy, and kept pace with Matt's Free-Running with an ease that belied his apparent age. Were Matt to guess, he'd have suggested the old bugger was at LEAST in his seventies. Former Future Foundation scholarship holder, and Olympic qualifying runner Simon Roth once had it all. Wealth, Success, Prestige, and foolish young-man schinanigans earned he and his crew the infamous catch-phrase 'Boys Will Be Boys'.
A simple phrase that could never again be the innocent 'excuse' for foolish behavior after one Bad Decision. One bad decision, combined with a fast motorcycle, is all it took for Simon to watch anything and everything he'd ever cared about fall away from him.
The media was, as one might imagine, unkind. When one wrecks a motorcycle at over 200 MPH on a public road, lack-of-casualties or not, it tends to bring out the outrage in anyone who drives such roads daily and have anything to lose themselves.
It was a long road to physical recovery, and Simon's once seemingly God-Given gift for breaking Olympic Records was gone (forever according to the surgeons). Short of disqualifying Bionic or Cybernetic augmentations, Simon would never again know the glory of being the fastest unaugmented homosapien on the planet.
In spite of it all, Simon never lost that 'edge' of hope and positive outlook. He tried a desk job for awhile, but found it suffocating. He needed to be out DOING something... MAKING a difference somehow.
Not all Former Future Foundation Scholarship Holders end up doing prestigeous works, one such former recipient reached out to Simon. Offered him a job.
All over the world, covert actions were always taking place. Sometimes, even SHIELD, needed to rely upon deniable mercenary extraction teams. Simon's once colleage ran such a team, and was in need of a pilot.

Sadly, born into the era that he was... His father ensured that his birth was overlooked by the Jedi, and instead enrolled him into private schooling off-world. Fostered to a doting uncle, Mhalix wanted for nothing and was given much. He was expected to work hard at his studies for such privilage, and he did so accordingly. A keen intellect, cunning mind, and competetive nature ensured that he stood out amidst his peers in class. At the age of twelve, he was enrolled in the prestigious Legislative Youth Program. Friends and colleagues were made that would ensure his political career would equal if not eclipse that of his fathers... Such hopes came to a sudden halt when the Clone Wars erupted, and war ravaged the Republic. Due to the war, Mhalix was called home to Coruscant. There, he was again directed to resume his studies. To his dismay, the classes Coruscant had to offer were FAR behind those he'd been exposed to in his off-world schools. As is the nature with young men, he went from being bored... to getting into trouble right-quick. Swoop Bikes, Forgery, Slicing, and Women became distractions Mhalix embraced all to easily. Luckily he was smart enough to steer clear of drugs, and only landed himself in a handful of fist-fights (none of which went well for him). By the wars end, Mhalix had gone from pampered-nobleman to rebellious teenager. This all changed the day the Jedi attempted to take over the Republic. None in his uncles house dared turn them away. Mhalix's mother was the one who spoke up though. She'd witnessed her husbands death as well, and the blaster bolt that had killed him had been deflected from a Padawan's Lightsaber. She blamed ALL Jedi, as most people did in those days. Mhalix had grown up thinking Jedi were invincible. Even the Padawan's that had been slain before his very eyes had done seemingly miraculous things the day his father was killed. Jedi Knight D'Var was no Padawan... and these Bounty Hunters were no novices. Jedi Knight D'Var fought amazingly, but was no match for the bounty hunters. Mhalix felt a pang of pity, and a hint of regret. What things might he have learned from his Grandfather? Such thoughts were quickly dwarfed by new fantasies of becoming a Bounty Hunter. A warrior capable of taking down Jedi, respected and feared across the galaxy and PAID to be so! Shortly afterwards, Mhalix was being prodded towards local government. If the Galactic Senate were ever to resurface, his mother insisted he be in a position to join it. That meant maintaining a successful political career. Which meant that pursuing his research into the world of Bounty Hunters would require discretion, and a whole lot credits from his own pockets. It was almost three months before the Ghost appeared. The Ghost of his Grandfather, latched onto Mhalix. The Ghost (As Mhalix calls him) firmly believed that it might try to train Mhalix, to make in him the future of the Jedi. Mhalix was far too old, and far too clever for such nonsense. Instead, he manipulated the Ghost to teach him things... and only too late did The Ghost realize its folly. Lessons ceased, but the damage had been done. Mhalix had learned what he sought. Gifts previously used on reflex and haphazardly as a child were now controlled. These gifts, combined with his wealth and station were all it took to secure the furtherance of the sort of education he truly desired. Now, Years later, Dhark (the alter ego of Mhalix) has made a name for himself as one of the Galaxies more successful Bounty Hunters. He raised no small amount of trouble for his parents~ Falling into unsavory crowds, ignoring his chores, and even embracing criminal habits. By the age of twelve he'd been arrested twice for grand-theft Speeder in the nearby space-port. If that weren't enough in and of itself, Anakin fled authorities by jumping onto the Ylegar Cannyon Raceway. To the astonishment and roaring crowds approval he overtook every racer crossed the finish line in First Place. Six days in the local jail did little to crush this youths spirit. He finally got what he wanted more than anything. A recruitment offer. Sure Anikin had never heard of the Captain, his Ship, or his Crew... but the offer was perfect. Fly for them, get off this dustball and have an equal share in the profits. Anakin was sold. His life in Space started simple. Piloting the old freighter was a cake walk. It wasn't the best of ships, but she responded better to Anakin's touch than any pilot twice his age and experience. Rising tensions soon convinced the Captain that their Fortunes would improve greatly if they left Smuggling behind and took up actual Piracy. Uncaring as long as he got to keep flying, Anakin didn't argue. Hells, it turned out he was actually pretty good at it.
