Actually it's not. The story is bland. (You have to get 8 badges and than defeat the elite four. Anything else is pretty much a sidequest.) The game mechanics where good when they first released it, but I think they could use a major overhaul today. And yeah, some of the pokemon are worthless. The game could do without a lot of pokemon, and it would still be a nice game.
The only good thing about is that it's so damned addictive.
Nice game, yeah. Good RPG, I don't think so.

Well I guess it depends if we're talking about this from a competitive standpoint or an in-game standpoint. In-game, any Pokémon is viable, which I think is a strength, but the assumption I made is that, when calling Pokémon a game for gamers, Gig was referring to the metagame. Maybe I did not express myself properly (english isn't my first language after all), I apologize for the misunderstanding. In fact, when I said it was "a game for gamers", I basically meant that it's a game that can be enjoyed by anyone enjoying video games, no matter the age. I was not referring to competition in the least, as I am really not a fan of any competitive games or options whatsoever. Therefore, if you please, allow me to explain myself with more accuracy... "Pokémon is great for people enjoying video games no matter how old they are." As for the strategy thing... "Considering the Move-type VS Pokémon type effects, the various status-inducing moves, the fact that certain Pokémons are better in X (insert a certain ability, for example Attack or Speed) ability while others are greater in Y or Z, and the Special Abilities that each Pokémon can have (for example, the ability to create a Sandstorm just by being sent in battle, etc... I consider the strategic aspect of the game to be excellent, according to my own personal standards." There. I hope I've been clearer this time.

It's all a matter of viewpoint, anyways. Some people love it, others like it, others don't care about it, others don't like it, and others hate it. As with anything else.

Yep, it's all a matter of taste.
A status update on my game, if anyone's interested. I've got the Storm Badge, as I've said. But now I've got to deal with Jasmine and her Steel's. With my Vulpix at 19, and my Krabby at the same level, it's going to be a while before I'm ready to take her on.
Any tips?

You mean, aside from levelling up and kicking her ass?

Yeah. Higher levels would be nice, but I don't have many options in that regard, except for hunting down wilds and stomping them for awhile. My only real idea is using Geodude against her Magnemites, but beyond that, I'm lost. And getting my butt kicked.

Never mind! ;D
So, I took a couple swimmers in the ocean, and got my pokemon to slightly higher levels. Then, I go back and take on Jasmine, again. I take out her Magnemite rather easily with my Geodude, even though it got confused in the process. Got lucky. Then, I used my Vulpix to Roar out her Steelix after it had already gotten weakened a fair amount, and took out her other Magnemite. Then, I just have the Steelix to deal with. First, my Noctowl puts it to sleep. My Krabby goes to work, and gets it down to half health before Steelix wakes up and cracks it like an egg. Then, my Vulpix hits it with a Confuse Ray. It hurts itself a couple times, and my Vulpix weakens it to the point I almost think it's going to win! Then Steelix gets lucky and lands a Rock Throw. This leaves only my starter, Bayleef. Fortunately, Razor Leaf does normal damage, and....game over.
Talk about down to the wire. But I finally won!

Well, congratulations to ya! Don't forget, be selfless, nice to your Pokemon, trust in their abilities but don't make them work themselves too hard... (insert other pro-pokemon morals and stuff) *Hands over the MURPG Badge!* Also, take this with you! *Hands over TM 1337* TM 1337 contains "It's over 9000!" Teach "It's over 9000!" to a Pokémon?

Yes, teach It's over 9000 to Bayleef. But Rose can't learn more than 4 moves. Delete an old move to make room for It's Over 9000? Delete Poisonpowder? Rose unlearned Poisonpowder, and learned It's Over 9000! Ushima911: Hey, gotta have the one if nothing else! One small complaint: I would like to have a discussion with the guy who decided to have Dewgong, AKA one of the tougher pokemon with a ton of health and powerful attacks, could learn Rest. And then gave that Pokemon to a Gym Leader, who would HAPPILY spam that move. I had more trouble with that moron than I did with Clair, the last Gym Trainer! Because I have some frustration to deal with.
