Except the The Doctor is one of the most positive people in existance.

...And negative, at times. He seems to be able to go from one end of the emotional spectrum to the other in a matter of minutes.

The Doctor is a utilitarian and a realist sometimes cloaked in a facade of childlike optimism.

You mean the Doctor is a utilitarian and a realist except now that Steven Moffat has taken over he's just stupid and is involved in needlessly complex stories that don't go anywhere, make previously cool things lame, and take themselves way too seriously for a kids' show about a a time traveler in a police box, right?

Oh and for the record I think those of us who can show up on Wednesdays should play the new Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG. It's relatively systems-lite, a literal idiot could learn to play in 5 minutes (so it took me like 10...), and because it's not to be taken too seriously, it won't matter if everyone is there from week to week.
Just my 2 cents

Where can I get it?

You can buy it from wherever you buy RPGs, but it's not cheap. If you have a smart phone or tablet, there's a free app for Android & iPhone (look up Purple Sorcerer Games or Dungeon Crawl Classics, I think the app is called "Crawlers" but there's only the one official App from the company so it shouldn't be hard to figure out the right one). A browser-based version of the app is available on Purple Sorcerer's website as well I believe. The app has pretty much everything a player actually needs. Players are actually discouraged from getting into the minutiae of the rules, and the app includes all of the spells, class features, etc. that you'd need. Also on their website, there's a random generator that lets you make up your 4 zero level characters that you'll need to start, and a generator for higher level characters as well.

I don't want to blame just Moffat for it (he did write one of my favorite episodes so I can't hold a grudge against him,) I also want to add I don't like the winking at the camera and the bad meta jokes that pop up (like that "on a scale from one to ten, this is eleven" 'joke' in Asylum of the Daleks, which is like a giant festering zit on an otherwise almost perfect episode.)

I feel like at this point all meta humor is terrible. For me it was a very short lived movement in terms of actual value

Admittedly, I have only seen up through what's on Netflix (series 6), but ever since Moffat took over, it's been a downward spiral. He wrote some amazing episodes (The Doctor Dances... oh my God), but when he has full creative control, it's too much. He took the Weeping Angels, a very cool concept of his, and stripped away everything cool about them. My friend articulates it better than I do, but basically you started with monsters that are in motion and "killing" when they aren't being observed. But then any image of one counts so just thinking of one can make a new one? But wait, shouldn't that mean the Angel in that hotel was a real Angel? Why didn't it do anything outside that room? And they can only kill by touching you, which teleports you back in time. Oh, except for when they touch you and don't kill you, but hold you instead. Or when they kill you by breaking your neck. But it's okay, because they can still only move when nothing is looking at them ("Don't blink!"). Oh, except the Statue of Liberty. Unless we're expected to believe that there's a moment when not a single eye is on it (note that, in "Blink," they don't have to be human eyes).
He's just riddled with continuity errors in such a way that isn't really consistent with the errors that are admissible in a show about time travel. And, as I watch, I have to constantly remind myself that Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Alex Kingston are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Rory is perfect, though.
And, WK, I'll concede that "kids' show" may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly a family show. If it were to get a "movie rating," I would give it a PG, whereas shows like Buffy or Angel would have PG-13. Classic Who, I haven't seen, so I can't really compare it with that one. Also worth noting is that, part of the reason the Moffat Who really isn't sinking for me is that he's trying to push it more and more into that PG-13 realm, but it just isn't working. The show is, fundamentally, silly and the Doctor is almost always at his best when the situations around him are allowed to be fantastic and goofy (note that this doesn't excuse fart monsters).
