I have to say, I kind of liked it. Maybe it's just a sense of relief that it's not Tobey friggin' McWirefucan'tevenmakethisguylooklikeSpider-Man again.

Not to incite a riot, but I didn't dislike Tobey McSpiderman.

Yyyyyeah, it's one of those rare instances where WK are on the same page; wasn't a big Tobey as Peter/Spider-Man fan.

Not to incite a riot, but I didn't dislike Tobey McSpiderman. Flame On! He was pretty awful, but then I'm very picky about casting, particularly for iconic characters. Vigo Mortensen (just for instance) is an actor that I'll see things just because he's in them... but he was an awful choice for Aragorn.

Y'know, showing the origin in the trailers really brings home how much like the "old" movies this can't help but be. It'll be fun to see the Lizard though. I like seeing Gwen Stacy too, and seeing her in the lab, it sounds like they have a good Spidey story going.
I still think it's absolutely ludicous having 30 year olds play teenagers. 25 should be the limit. Ugh.
The first person view is actually brilliant. The problem, of course, is that it's 100% CGI, which leaves very little room for error. BUT it adds so very, very much to the movie, and to our ability to sympathize with the character and his abilities. If it's all done as well as this trailer, it'll have as many fans as detractors. It really could be bad, and I think GL is a lesson in over CGI-ifying a superhero film. Not everyone has George Lucas' money press.

My first reaction: I already miss the light-heartedness. The first Spider Man film really made you want to be Peter Parker. I felt a lot of the thrill of his power set, and I was really pulling for the guy. I didn't get that with this version, at least from the trailer. He's so emo and bland that I don't care about him at all. It's like Spider Man meets the O.C.
However, I still badly want to see Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, so I'm staying tuned.

That plug in is making my browser go crazy when I try to load the video.
Just to put my two cents in Maguire spiderman was so annoying. Maybe it was the years of seeing Spider Man Cartoons, or reading Spider Man Comic books, but he didn't look, act, or sound like Spider-Man or Peter Parker.
The Voice acting in the Cartoons and Games in the 90 and early 2000's was good. Maguire sounded like a little kid going through puberty though. He sounded more like Spider Tween than Spider Man.
I did like "Ride with The Devil," but Toby looked the part for that movie. A dumb ass inbred hill billy.

Maguire didn't sell me as being smart or clever, and that's a big part about what I didn't like about his performance. He spoke so slowly and was too earnest. I found him likeable enough, but he just didn't feel like Spiderman without the quips.

Yes, I think you're onto something there.
It *is* tough to play Peter Parker, though. He walks a very fine line between nerd and cool. This is the millionth time that I've brought it up, but the Spectacular Spider Man got it so right.

I want to see a full blown nerd peter parker some day. You know, horrible thick glasses, allergies, won't stop opsessing about star wars, star trek, or whatever copy writes can allow him to talk about, and have Mary Jane the type of girl who flirts with him, and then make fun of him behind his back.
