OOC Nice pics - you guys really seem to enjoy the whole culture of comic books - reading, collecting, cosplay etc. They are a much more accepted form of entertainment in the states as opposed to staid, stuffy Britain. If I walked out of the house in a Batman suit I'd either get insulted, beaten up, or people would assume I'm on a themed stag do. A bunch of us wore lime green Borat 'mankini' in Spain and if I recall the only people who complained were British tourists. The Spanish laughed, joined in with taking pictures with us, and generally enjoyed the nutty Brits on tour...
Batman
Batman is perhaps less careful than he could be when he opens the door, but there is no immediate klaxon call of alarm or deadly assault by an array of deadly devices. Instead...
The simple facade of the debilitated warehouse definitely contrasts with its interior, which houses an unbelievable array of high-tech equipment: computer terminals and informational store centers, immense video monitors, hard copy printers-scientific and technical equipment to dwarf the facilities of any major research corporation.
Reclining in a grandiose chair amid the activity is one tall, thin figure whose startlingly white skin effectively contrasts with his vibrantly green hair. Seemingly oblivious to the electronic fanfare which surrounds him, the Joker stares, captivated, at the complex's main video monitor.

Before we begin...I was Batman again today at Jade's school. Happy Halloween!
If Joker is interested in what's on the Monitor, then so is the Batman. Quietly activating both a Miniature Camera and a Micro-Cassette Recorder on his utility belt, the Dark Knight spies on the Joker, while he determines the best way inside the warehouse without being detected. Action 1 (Auto): Readying his Miniature Camera to take photos of the monitors. Action 2 (Auto): Activating his Micro-Cassette Recorder. Action 3 (Dice): Thief (Security Systems) to determine how to best enter the warehouse without alerting the Joker. HCFs3WaL2d102d10

A look at what Joker is watching with all his attention reveals...
A huge map of the eastern seaboard of the United States, Gotham on the left hand side and Metropolis on the right. Each is represented by a steady green flashing light. In the centre of the image is a flashing red light, located somewhere between the two cities.
OOC Batman can just use Thief (Stealth) to sneak up and stand right behind Joker... and the clown prince of crime seems not to notice! With the deceptive stealth which is your trademark, you approach the Joker's position, suspecting some sort of diabolical trick, as the Clown Prince of Crime affords you absolutely no attention. In fact, the Joker never even moves from his reclined spot as you arrive directly at his side.
Cautiously, you examine your deadliest foe; his respiration is slight, and his body is completely motionless. The eyes, which are a mirror into the deepest abyss of human insanity, now stare fixedly at some unknowable, unseen vision. Soon, his whitened lids flutter, then blink, as recognition seeps slowly into his eyes.
A broad smile grows across the Joker's face, as he stretches his limbs wearily. Through a long yawn, the Clown Prince says, "Batman dear, what a wonderful surprise. I've always wanted to see the Batcave in action. But why all the fuss? I'd have come here on a mere invitation."
"I wake up here, but the last thing I remember is my lovely home at Arkham... delightful place, full of fun loving people... like me! That warden though... nothing will make him crack a smile... maybe I'm not trying hard enough! Tee hee! Tee... hee... hay... hah... ho... oh my head. For weeks... eons! No, no, merely weeks... a pounding headache... had trouble unmuddling my brain, properly tied into a tizzle wazzle it was... so I lie down... Everything is blurry... Rest, yes, that's what... Yes. Then... here. You. The batcave! Oh how delightful! And here you are, ready to dance again, our endless deadly dance of..."
He frowns. "So why am I here Batman? Are we friends now? Must admit, the last person I thought to spring me from my home is you..."

For the first time, Batman doesn't think the clown prince is joking. "Be still Joker, I'm checking for explosives."

Action 2 (Auto): Recalling what he can remember about Arkham's new warden. If anyone could smuggle the Joker out of that fortress it would have to be an insider with a lot of clout.
Action 3 (Auto): Uses his Infrared Flashlight and Goggles to aid his first action, which is to look around for anything amiss. 2d10

Joker shrugs, hands spread wide, as Batman kneels - with one eye firmly on the Clown Prince of Crime - to look beneath the madman's chair...
Distracted as he is, Batman cannot tell whether the chair is booby trapped without Joker actually standing up (OOC poor roll) but the criminal seems less bothered about that than the events that lead him here.
"Bats old buddy, ol' pal, far be it from me to interrupt your shuffling round on your hands and knees in front of me - oh what I'd give for a camera and a few minutes to load it onto watchtube - I do have to ask... how did I get here? Was it by your hand, or someone elses? And is it me you've been looking for, or someone else? Normally I wouldn't expect to be invited into your cave - if such it is - but my mind, even as muddled and spaghetti like as it is, seems to think..." he raised an eyebrow at Batman scanning the chair with his goggles and flashlight "...you didn't expect to find me here? So, what led you here, and if you didn't bust me from Arkham - which now I think about it, seems rather out of character - who did? And why? I should send them a card, flowers, an exploding cake with... oh, I'll save that surprise for another time."
Joker frowns again, and becomes quiet. Despite the madman's murderous mind, Batman knew that the villain possessed a kind of cruel intelligence that ordinary criminals could not access. Batman knew it would present itself as a puzzle to be solved, possibly to the detriment of anything else going on around him.
Or the Joker could be playing him. He was, after all, the Joker...

OOC With regards the Warden, Batman can recall nothing obvious about the fellow being connected to the escape of the Joker. He would need to dig deeper, but his gut instinct suggests that a role as sensitive and high profile as the head of Arkham Asylum would require an extensive check of security not just of the man himself, but of his associates, friends, family and a deep scouring of their past too. Batman can take time out to look into it, but such a check would take some time.

Batman feels like he's being watched, so he looks for cameras while he fills in the Joker.
"This isn't a cave, Joker. It's a warehouse at the far end of docking bay 94. And I'm just as curious as to how you got here as well."
Batman also looks for clues as to how the Joker got here as well.

BATMAN
OOC As far as I know you'd use Perception (Int/Will) to find clues then Detective/Clue Analysis to determine facts from the objects found. That said, there are no immediate clues to be found though clearly this is all very suspicious. Batman does however get the distinct feeling that the Joker is telling the truth, that he woke up here without actually knowing how he got here from Arkham. Furthermore...
"Bats old pal, whilst you and I both know that there are less Bats flying around my personal belfry than there should be, I have to say, honestly and without malice - a first for me - I don't have the foggiest idea what is going on. What I DO know is that I am a player, and one that does not like being played. So, I'm asking, as one player of the game to the other, clue me in. Why are you here, if it's not the bat cave, and HOW, exactly did you get here? What information led you to this point?" asks the Joker.
He leans back in his chair, fingers steepled and face in deep thought. "Much as it seems... alien... to me to suggest that you and I have common ground - aside from my wanting to kill you and your annoying insistence on doing otherwise. Whoever put me here and led you to this place needs to be taught the error of their ways. Tell me what you know. Perhaps there's something in this nasty noggin of mine that will be jogged, come loose or otherwise ride from the murky depths and tell us who is laughing at out expense."
Batman sees that Joker is deadly serious as the words come out at the last. He seems as eager as Batman to get to the bottom of this mystery.

BATMAN
"Eh? I did?" asks Joker. There's a deep frown on his face. Joker is clearly unhappy about the events that have taken place, seemingly without his knowledge. When Batman starts to question the Clown Prince of Crime he shrugs and leans back. "Bats, I don't have a clue what you're talking about, why I would want to go to the Pawn King and like I said, as far as I'm concerned, I was tucked up in my cosy cell and wake up... here." he looks at the screen with blinking lights again.
"Batty, much as you have every reason not to believe me, let me say in all honesty - well, as much as I'm able to summon up at any rate - everything you can tell me will be news to me. Start at the beginning. Tell me everything, all the details, the little things you might think are unimportant, all of it. Chances are you can jog my memory or perhaps I can suggest where next to look for the missing jigsaw piece - the one that reveals the puppet master pulling our strings. Believe you me, whoever it is shall surely deserve all that is coming to them!"
He thumps the table for effect, eyes gleaming. Without hooking Joker up to a lie detector machine, which he might be able to beat, Batman has the feeling that Joker is indeed telling the truth.
ACTIONS
If you want to tell Joker the full details of the events so far, you don't have to summarize them as player, just let me know a simple yay or nay. He's been insistent on finding out what happened, and as serious as Batman has ever seen him.

"Not here." Batman pushes a button to call the Batmobile to his location and pulls out his Batarang w/rope to tie Joker's hands together. "I'm going to bind your hands. Then when I tell you to run with me for the exit...run."
Action 1 (Free): Calling the Batmobile to the pier docking bay 94.
Action 2 (Dice): Persuasion to get the Joker to allow himself to be bound by Batman's rope. PMgTRl_n2d10
Action 3 (Free): Wrapping the batarang with Rope around Joker's wrists, if he lets him.
On the next turn, if all goes well, I want to run with Joker out of the building and into the batmobile. Once in car, he'll call Gordon to have a team sent to Pier 94. He'll then go for a drive with Joker and only then tell him the whole story. 2d10

Batman
Joker shrugs, then brandishes his wrists to be bound - no persuasion required! Suspicious, Batman makes sure he's secure, then takes the Joker from the building, but Batman senses some resistance as Joker looks back. "Ah, Bats, this place needs careful examination, I'd say. Maybe then you... perhaps we... can tell who's behind this."
His eyes narrow, then the smile vanishes. "I already have an inkling of an idea, but I need to know what you know..."
After having called Gordon, Batman leads Joker to the Batmobile.
"This thing changes every time I see it. It seems every time it gets blown up you see the need to fit more toys." ponders Joker as he glances about. When Batman starts off, then starts talking, Joker clams up, and listens, rapt, as his attention is fixed on the side of Batmans' head. It's rather unnerving - Batman knows Joker, and he's as serious now as he's ever known the murderous psychopath.
When the car has been round the block, and Batman has told Joker the details, the Clown Prince of Crime speaks up "A right here, if you would, Bats." Batman knows where it will lead. Back to the pier.
The batmobile pulls up outside. Having alerted Gordon, he knows the commissioner will send squad cars to seal off the place, but in doing so they might contaminate what evidence there is to find in there. Before he can speak, Joker starts talking...
The Joker eyes you warily, trying to weigh your truthfulness.
Eventually, he says sombrely, "An interesting story, Batman, and I must say I admire the genius who has so cleverly played us both. Surely it's obvious to you that I can't possibly be the perpetrator. "For I live only to see your continual humiliation. Were I to construct such a plan-grand as it might be-should it lead to your destruction, I would have no means to weigh my own genius further. You and I live a mirrored life, my old friend; good cannot exist without evil, nor I suppose I must admit can evil without good. The day which leads to your destruction shall see my genius pass as well. Romantic, isn't it?" The Joker winks at you lovingly.
"No, these events suggest another hand. Who owns this warehouse, whose corporation has created these devices, who, besides my own self, of course, possesses the cunning and genius to perpetrate such a wide-ranging plan? Look not in our city, Batman, for the man behind these events sits high atop his Metropolitan throne-surely only Lex Luthor would be so bold."
The Joker sits back in his chair, reclining gracefully, smiling at you as if he had solved the riddle of Solomon.
An unusual look of seriousness suddenly crosses the Joker's face as he stares at you with intent. "Now, Batman," the Joker says, "you realize we must stop Luthor from completing his plan. I may be insane, but I'm not crazy. I don't care to dieĀ not just yet, anyway and certainly not by the hands of another. When our times come and by 'our' I mean mine, yours, Gotham's - it shall be by my own scheme."
"Any other way would be such a poop." he says with a sly grin and a cackle.
"It's obvious that Luthor's main fusion site is located off the mainland between Gotham and Metropolis. I think you should go there and examine the device. Find out how to stop this from happening. We may have been on opposite sides before, and I hope we will be again, but for now I offer you my sincere assistance in this. Will you go there and stop Luthor's plan?"

"I will check out the pier and Luthor, but only after you are safely under guard of the GCPD."
Batman waits for the Gotham City Police Department to arrive, so he can hand over the Joker, before going back inside the dockhouse...alone.

"You're making a mistake Bats! I *can* help you know! You see it takes a special kind of devious mind to understand another! You know... without even thinking hard about it, that Luthor will find some way of squirming out of this! Only I can see what he's doing, and head him off at the pass! You see great minds think alike! Tee heee!" cackles Joker even as the Police restrain him.
Gordon calls Batmans' internal private line "I've told my men to stay out of the place until you've had a look. Good work on catching the Joker. One less headache in this crazy city on this crazy night. Enough to give me an ulcer, if I didn't already have one."
OOC Take a look around in the warehouse, use Detective to analyse... the machines? Look for other clues?
