It's funny, I totally missed Justice League when it came out, but I had heard good things and looked it up after the fact. At first glance I thought it wasn't very good, and barely sat through it. Then I finally hit the Unlimited episodes, and I loved them; blew through the whole series in about two weeks tops.
I'd also give Spectacular around an 8.5/10, but Avengers closer to a 4. Ultimate feels like maybe a 2.5. T__T

I enjoyed both Justice League and JLU, but Spectacular is probably the king of super hero cartoons so far.

Batman TAS. It doesn't have the depth of shows like JLU or Spectacular (which have long metaplot arcs and character development), but it really got the ball rolling. Likewise with Spider-Man TAS (the 90's show), though I think I liked Batman better.
I agree that Spectacular seems to be the show to beat at the moment in the comic cartoon department.

I enjoyed everything they put out for the DCAU... Batman, Batman Beyond, Superman, and both Justice Leagues.

I couldn't really get into Beyond, though I did enjoy some parts of it. It was mostly the animation style that threw me off, but I also never really grew attached to Terry.

Maybe it's because I didn't consistently see a whole lot of the series but I don't see what was so amazing about the Spectacular Spidey series. And none of the other newer shows in the genre have impressed me much either. It's not like the days of shows I really enjoyed like the old Supes and Batman series. I enjoyed those as well as the Batman Beyond and the old Spiderman series. I really loved the Justice League and the old X-men series (that series is probably the premier reason why I'm such a big X-men fan today). I liked the X-men: Evolution series but in hindsight it probably wasn't as good as I originally thought. As far as the new Ultimate Spidey-guy series goes: If it's anything like what you guys are indicating than I won't even go out of my way to see an episode.

What I liked about Spectacular: - Great continuity. The episodes are serial, but they're all a part of a larger, driven storyline - Interesting secondary characters. Even Flash Thompson has character development - Excellent fight choreography. The animation in general was pretty minimalist, but they saved the good stuff for the fights. - Good voice acting. Josh Keaton in particular, but some of the guest stars were great, too (I particularly enjoyed Tricia Helfer as Black Cat). - Inclusive of both children and adults. Kids will pretty much always love a super hero cartoon, so it's just a matter of keeping the rating at a level where they'll be allowed to watch it; however, Spectacular had enough intrigue, character development, humour, and continuity to appeal to adults as well. This all seems to be the ideal formula for a popular show, and yet it's continuation hinged on DVD sales and apparently they weren't high enough. The producers just need to learn how to properly convert popularity into money these days. I think their current methods are a little old-fashioned: shows just don't sell action figures and even DVDs like they used to. Times have changed and are continuing to change. Spectacular wasn't godly, but it was a lot better than most of what has been out in recent years, particularly for Marvel. It was intelligent and fun in a simple, streamlined way. Compare that to Ultimate, which feels desperate and out of touch. Oh well. ~TWF

The fight scenes did it for me. The fight against Venom captured, for me, the essence of Spidermans fighting style. I'll watch a few more episodes, see if its rose tinted specs clouding my vision, but I'm pretty sure the rest of the battles lived up to that one. The 90s version had interesting stories but you couldn't really say the fight scenes were much good. I feel the same way about the Justice League series, but that's a favourite because of the art, the stories, and the feel of it. I'm a big fan of Bruce Timms work. He's proof that super types don't need to be impossibly muscled to look impressive. A Mr Universe contestant in Spandex wouldn't be as defined and muscled as some of the characters in Marvels comics. Less, in some cases, is more For the same reason I like the Avengers art, but the stories have been hit and miss for me.

So I watched the first two episodes last night.
Man, this is awful. We had to lose Spectacular for a poorly written, badly acted “Marvel Knights in High School” cartoon with Family Guy cutaways (“Spider-Man sits next to me in Spanish class” was the only one that was all that funny anyway)? Argh!
Given the pretty blatant product placement, I think they’re going to sell a buttload of toys though.

Just watched the 3rd episode, "Doomed". It was even worse than the first two. I give up. I hope this show had an ENORMOUS budget and fails miserably.

In the interest of fairness, I don't think they're AT ALL interested in any kind of audience over the age of 12 with this show. My kids enjoy it. It's incredibly stupid, and completely lacking in any real value. In other words... it's a Disney show

Yeah, I probably would have been bored to death watching TMNT now, though I enjoyed it as a kid. I just feel like the bar has been raised by shows like Avatar and Spectacular, which prove that you can make a show that's just as fun for kids, while still entertaining adults. Alas.
Plus it's just embarrassing watching how hard Ultimate tries to be cool - mostly by copying the likes of Family Guy, Saved by the Bell, and the Scott Pilgrim movie in the most blatant and uncreative ways. Even kids deserve better. They don't know it, but they do.

Ok so I changed my mind & decided to see it for myself. I didn't even finish the 1st episode because of issues with my wireless router but I'm not even upset about that because it wasn't good. Those cutaways are just dumb and make no sense for a show like that. It's just bad.
